    ANALISIS KADAR OMEGA 3 PADA DAGING IKAN TAWASSANG (Naso thynnoides) ASAL PAOTERE KOTA MAKASSAR

    Omega-3 adalah kelompok asam lemak tak jenuh  essensial yang angat dibutuhkan oleh tubuh, karena tubuh tidak dapat mensintesa senyawa tersebut. Asam lemak omega-3 banyak ditemukan pada berbagai spesies ikan yang merupakan sumber asam lemak  hewani laut, seperti ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides).  Telah dilakukan analisis kadar omega 3 pada daging ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides) asal Paotere Kota Makassar.  Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk menganalisis  kadar dan jenis asam lemak omega 3 pada daging ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides). Ekstraksi sampel secara sokhletasi dengan pelarut n-heksan, yang dilanjutkan dengan analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif kadar dan jenis omega 3  menggunakan  instrument Gas Chromatography-Mass Spektrofotometer (GC-MS).  Hasil  analisis menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daging ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides) memiliki kandungan omega 3 sebesar 14,7941% dengan komposisi asam linolenat 0,3474%, DHA 10,7933% dan EPA 3,5735%.

    KARAKTERISTIK DAN PROFIL ASAM LEMAK MINYAK IKAN DARI JEROAN IKAN BULAN-BULAN (Megalops sp.)

    Ikan bulan-bulan (Megalops sp.) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan pelagis yang hidup di Perairan pantai dan muara sungai, serta termasuk jenis hasil tangkapan samping. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis karakteristik dan profil asam lemak minyak ikan bulan-bulan (Megalops sp.), serta menentukan suhu ekstraksi terbaik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah ekstraksi secara dry rendering pada suhu 400C, 500C, dan 600C selama 1 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar lemak jeroan ikan bulan-bulan yaitu 17,80%. Perlakuan terbaik yaitu pada perlakuan ekstraksi dengan suhu 60oC. Nilai rendemen yang diperoleh  sebesar 20,34%. Profil asam lemak minyak jeroan ikan bulan - bulan (Megalops sp.) menunjukkan total kandungan asam lemak jenuh/saturated fatty acid (SFA) sebesar 49,60%; total kandungan asam lemak tidak jenuh tunggal/monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) sebesar 32,97%; dan total kandungan asam lemak tidak jenuh majemuk/polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) sebesar 17,39%.     KARAKTERISASI KITOSAN KOMBINASI CANGKANG KERANG HIJAU (Perna viridis) DAN CANGKANG RAJUNGAN (Portunus pelagicus) ASAL BANTEN, INDONESIA

    Green mussel shells (Perna viridis) and crab shells (Portunus pelagicus) have not been optimally utilized. It’s can be used as chitosan. Chitosan from green mussels has a low degree of deacetylation, so it needs to be combined with crab shells in its manufacture. The aims of this study were to characterize and determine the best combination of raw materials for making chitosan from green mussel shells and crab shells. The method in this study used a completely randomized design with triplicate. The treatment in this study was a combination of raw materials from green mussel shells and crab shells, which were 100:0; 75:25; 50:50% (w/w). The results of this study showed that the combination of green mussel shells and crab shells 50:50% (w/w) resulted the best characterization of chitosan with a yield 12.56%, water content 7.55%, ash content 1.59%, degree of deacetylation 73.96% and viscosity of 279 c

    Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) in the waters of Kupang Bay is part of the wealth of biological resources that the population needs to be maintained in order to be sustainable. The rate of exploitation Indian mackerel fish is due to the large market demand and high levels of consumption, causing many fishermen to carry out continuous fishing. This research aims to analyze Indian mackerel fishstock as a basis for policies for fisheries management in the waters of Kupang Bay. The research was conducted in September 2022. Total sample of fish was 150. The data collected includes length and total weight. Data analyzed used Microsoft Excel and FISAT II software. The results of the analysis of the long-weight relationship between male and female mackerel showed that the growth pattern was negatif allometric with estimated of growth parameters L∞ = 28.40 cm, K = 0.51 years, and t0 = -0.32 years. The total mortality rate (Z) was 4,68, the natural mortality rate (M) was 1,17, the mortality rate from fishing (F) was 3,5, and the exploitation rate (E) was 0,75 per year

    Histamine is an indicator of quality and food safety in fishery industry products, especially tuna derivative products. Histamine levels are an indicator of quality in tuna food products because if the histamine levels are high it will cause poisoning effects for humans who consume them. The aim of this research is to identify the process flow of freezing tuna (Thunus sp.) at PT. Independent Indonesian Tuna. As well as identifying the histamine content in raw materials and final products produced. This research was carried out in October December 2022 at PT. Independent Indonesian Tuna. Histamine testing method using biofish. The analysis of the data obtained will be analyzed descriptively. The process flow for freezing tuna fish has several stages including receiving, thawing, butchering, cooking, cooling, pre-cleaning (skinning), cleaning, inspect, metal detector I, packing I, metal detector II, Air Blast Freezer (ABF), packing II and cold storage. The results of histamine testing using the biophysical method on five raw materials with codes A, B, C, D, and E are 0; 2; 3; 4,2 ; 4 ppm. The test results for the five final product samples with codes A, B, C, D, E are 6.5 ; 3.2 ; 10.8 ; 7.6 and 5.3 ppm. The raw material temperature for tuna loin is around -10.4°C – (-9.1) °C. The histamine content of the test results in both raw material and final frozen tuna fish products is still below the standards set by the Company and SNI (100 ppm). Keywords: biofish, histamine, freezing, raw materials, tun

    Analysis of conditions and vulnerability of mangrove ecosystem degradation in Dumai City Riau Province Indonesia

    There is still minimum information on the condition of the mangrove ecosystem, such as canopy cover and vulnerability of the ecosystem. Therefore, it was necessary to analyze that by assessing the Important Value Index (INP), canopy cover and vulnerability to degradation. The primary data needed are the type, density, frequency and basal area of mangroves obtained by the Transect Line Plot (TLP) method. The canopy cover was obtained using the Hemispherical Photography method. The data analyzed using INP, pixel analysis with binary images and compared to standard criteria of mangrove damage and vulnerability to degradation of mangrove ecosystems. This study identified 5 types of mangroves, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Xylocarpus granatum and Sonneratia alba. Xylocarpus granatum was the species with the highest INP at stations 1 and 2, while at station 3 it was Avicennia alba. Station 1 has the highest canopy cover with a value of 86%. The condition of the mangrove ecosystem in Dumai is generally in the good category with medium stands. In addition, the level of vulnerability to mangrove degradation in can be categorized as low vulnerability. Although this research was conducted with simple methods and equipment, the results can provide an overall illustration of the condition of the Dumai’s mangrove ecosystem, making it easier for interested parties to manage the ecosystem

    CHARACTERIZATION OF ANTIOXIDANT COMPOUNDS FROM CELEBES SEA BAMBOO EXTRACTS (Isis hippuris) USING GC-MS

    Sea bamboo (Isis hippuris) is one of the octocorallia which is reported to produce unique biological activity and is beneficial for pharmaceutical development. Evaluation of the bioactive compounds of sea bamboo collected from Sulawesi (Celebes) waters has never been reported. Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) are convenient methods for evaluating bioactive compounds. This study aims to evaluate bioactive compounds from extracts of sea bamboo from Sulawesi by GC-MS method and predict their activity computationally. Samples of sea bamboo were collected from Kabonga Besar Coast, Palu Bay, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Samples were extracted by maceration method using methanol: dichloromethane solvent. GC-MS evaluated bioactive compounds from sea bamboo extracts. The antioxidant activity was determined by the DPPH scavenging method, compared with Vitamin E. The biological activity of Celebes sea bamboo extracts was predicted with PASS prediction. GC-MS evaluation identified nine alkaloid-derived and phenolic-derived compounds, namely tetramethyldiaminoethane; dimethylisopropanolamine; crotonic acid, (E)-; 2,4-dimethylpyrrole; 1-(carboxymethyl)pyridinium chloride; pyridine, 3,4-dimethyl-; 3,5-dithiahexanol 5,5-dioxide; N-Nitroso-2-methylthiazolidine; and (-)-cis-carveol. The Celebes sea bamboo extracts have strong antioxidant activity. These compounds are predicted to have antioxidant abilities, closely related to their role as NADPH-oxidase inhibitors

    KELIMPAHAN DAN BIOMASSA IKAN KARANG DI KAWASAN PERAIRAN PULAU PASUMPAHAN KOTA PADANG

    Ikan karang menempati banyak kelompok fungsional (coralivor, herbivor, karnivor) dan memainkan peran integral dalam menjaga kesehatan ekosistem terumbu karang sehingga ikan karang akan hidup di daerah terumbu karang yang sehat. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis, kelimpahan ikan karang, keanekaragaman ikan karang dan biomassa ikan karang di kawasan perairan Pulau Pasumpahan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan Maret 2022 di kawasan perairan Pulau Pasumpahan. Metode pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah Underwater Fish Visual Census (UVC). Hasil penelitian di Pulau Pasumpahan bahwa kelimpahan ikan karang yang ditemukan kelompok ikan yang tertinggi adalah kelompok herbivor dengan nilai kelimpahan 3171 individu/hektar di stasiun 3, kelimpahan kelompok corallivor tertinggi terdapat di stasiun 2 dengan nilai kelimpahan 1171 individu/hektar dan kelimpahan kelompok karnivor tertinggi di temukan di stasiun 2 dengan nilai kelimpahan 171 individu/hektar. Keanekaragaman ikan karang yang ditemukan dalam kategori rendah dengan nilai H’ < 2,30. Biomassa ikan karang di kawasan perairan Pulau Pasumpahan dalam kategori rendah dengan nilai biomassa < 300 kg/hektar.

    Characterization of Glucosamine Nano Particles from Chitosan Using Ultrasonicators and Ball Milling Methods

    Oral consumption of glucosamine hydrochloride can worsen side effects in the human body, so the development of nanoparticles from glucosamine hydrochloride is needed as a topical preparation in treating osteoarthritis. This study aims to determine the differences in the characteristics of nanoparticles from shrimp shell glucosamine made ultrasonic and ball milling. For the production of glucosamine from shrimp shells, the acid hydrolysis method was used using 37% HCL solution, then washed with IPA solution until glucosamine powder was formed, then the yield and FTIR tests were carried out. Preparation of glucosamine nanoparticles using the ultrasonic method, namely glucosamine with a 37% HCl mixture sonicated using an ultrasonicator, and another method using a ball mill to fission glucosamine to obtain powdered glucosamine nanoparticles. The powder obtained from the two methods was then characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to determine the morphological condition of the solid. The results of the glucosamine test obtained a yield of 83.65%, and the absorption pattern of the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum showed 99.82% so that it met the quality standards proving that glucosamine hydrolysis was successful. The powder characterization obtained by SEM aims to determine the size characteristics of the glucosamine nanoparticles obtained. The resulting powder nanoparticles are yellow-white. The SEM photo results show the morphology of the particles with an uneven surface. The results of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) test showed that the particle size of glucosamine by ultrasonic and ball milling methods were 83.56 nm and 61.16 nm, respectively
