    Secchi Depth with black and white difference combination at Ciwaka Reservoir

    Secchi disk has long been used as a measure of water transparency because of its simplicity. Brightness is a portion of the light transmitted into the water. This study examines the differences in the brightness of the water with a combination of black and white case study in the Ciwaka reservoir, Walantaka, Serang – Banten Province. The study was conducted in May 2015. The observation point are in the inlet, middle and outlet area. Observations secchi brightness using four different colors: black (Hi), white (Pu), 2 black-and-white shaded (A2) and 4 shaded black-and-white (A4). The experimental design used was completely randomized factorial design with color factor secchi and observation points. Secchi disk affect the value of color brightness or Secchi depth, a good color to use for the waters of the reservoir is a combination of black and white either 2 or 4 shaded. The central region and the outlet has a low brightness value, this is due to the accumulation of organic and inorganic materials in the region

    Design of Purse Seine Fishing Vessel Modification at Bulukumba South Sulawesi Province

    Bulukumba regency is well known by international community as the areas of phinisi shipbuilding. Shipbuilding procces in Bulukumba Regency made a traditional dockyard system. The skills used the experience from generation to generation. Limited investment was one of the problems, so that the construction of the ship in Bulukumba the craftsman forced to modification the cargo ship to be the fishing vessel. The aim of the research is comparing the design character of the purse seiner modification toward cargo ship and purse seiner in Bulukumba. This research done with make a measurement, observationand direct interview. Calculation and ship drawing methods used the naval architecture method. Data analyzed a numeric, comparative and descriptive set. Result of the study showed a principal dimension of purse seiner modification tend to have the same value with cargo ship in Bulukumba. Value of principal dimension of purse seiner modification is smaller than purse seiner in Bulukumba. Freeboard of purse seiner modification is high. The hull of purse seiner modification have a round bottom type, so it can reduce resistance value. Character of coefficient of fineness purse seiner modification tend to have the same value with cargo ship. The coefiicient of fineness value of purse seiner modification smaller than of purse seiner in Bulukumba

    Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a freshwater commodity with high economicvalue. To increase the production of tilapia, intensive culture needs to be byfeeding quality and water quality. This study aimed to effect of prebioticssupplementation to tilapia fed on ammonia value. This experiment consisted offour treatments with three replications. The treatments were A (prebiotics 0%), B(prebiotics 1%), C (prebiotics 2%) and D (prebiotics 3%). The results showedthat lowest ammonia value indicated in the treatment of prebiotic 2% of 0,0000.Prebiotic subsequent treatment of 3% 0.0001, prebiotic treatment 1% 0.0002, andthe highest value in the treatment of ammonia prebiotic 0% of 0.0006.Supplementation of 2% prebiotics is the best treatment because it showed thelowest ammonia value than the other treatment

Basal metabolism represents the use of energy for things such as respiration, circulation of the blood, pulmonary ventilation, membrane transport of ions (especially of sodium and potassium), and muscle tone, repair and replacement of cells. To fully conclude on the effects of metabolism basal in fish diets, feeding managemnt, more research efforts are needed to provide the aquaculture industry, the scientific community, the regulatory bodies and the general public with the necessary information and tools

    Diversity of Fish and Mapping Distribution of Invasive, Banned and Protected Fish at Rawadanau Concervation Area Banten

    Rawadanau Conservation Area has main function to take care of biodiversity. Theresearch of fish diversity and Invasive Alien Species has been conducted. Theresearch was conducted in August-September 2015. The aim is to show the valueof community structures such as index of fish diversities, the similarities,dominances and alien species. We found nine species contain 198 fish, the detailsare 63 fish at Muara station, 73 fish at Jamungkal and 62 at Cibungur. Thecategory of Biodiversity index showed low category, as follows 1.7306, 1.1146and 1.2153. The category of similarity index showed low-middle category between0.259786 – 0.417703. The details are 0.417703 at Muara Station (middlecategory and labil community); 0.259786 at Jamungkal Station and 0.294471 atCibungur Station (Low Category and depressed community), dominancy index isin low category between 0.268-0.353, it is 0.268 at Muara Station, 0.353 atJamungkal Station and 0.320 at Cibungur Station. The endemic fish are spottedgouramy, common snakehead, climbing gouramy, gondang snail and silver barbfish. Alien species are plecos, pomfret, carp and catfish. The water temperature26-27 oC, pH between 5.76-6.16,water depth 150 s/d >200 m, brightness 53.3-66.6 m, current speed 0.12-0.15 (m/s), DO 6-6.3 mg/l and bog sediment

    This study aimed to evaluate the effect of prebiotics supplementions oncarbohydrate based diets on growth and feed efficiency in catfish. This experimentconsisted of three treatments with three replications. The treatments were 0%prebiotic (A); 1% prebiotic (B) and 2% prebiotic C. prebiotic used was extractedfrom sweet potato (varieties: sukuh). Tilapia with an average body weight of50±0.05 g were stocked at a density of 15 fish/ponds and were maintained for 30days.The results showed that application prebiotic in catfish fed can promotebetter growthand feed eficiency compared to control. Application prebiotic 2%(C) showed best result on growth (SGR) and feed efficiency which wassignificantly different (P<0.05) from the other treatments

    Effect of Prebiotic in Commercial Feed on the Growth of Catfish (Pangasius sp.)

    A prebiotic is a non-digestible food ingredient that beneficially affects the host by selectively stimulating the growth or the activity of one or a limited number of bacteria in the colon. This research aimed to determine the effect of commercial feed containing prebiotics on the growth of catfish (Pangasius sp.). The experiment were done with four treatments and three replicates, namely control A (0% prebiotic), B (1% prebiotic), C (2% prebiotic), D (3% prebiotic). The treatment with the addition of 1% prebiotic can improve number of bacteria populations, protein retention, protein efficiency ratio, specific growth rates, feed efficiency and survival rate higher than the other treatments with the value of each  9.25 ± 0.09b%, 15.65 ± 3.83b%, 112.68 ± 25.22b%, 1.52 ± 0.16c%, 31.55 ± 5.1b% and 93.33 ± 6.67%.. Therefore, the addition of 1% prebiotic can promote the growth performance of catfish
