Water Quality of Situ Cibanten Based on Shannon-Weaver Diversity Index Value
Situ Cibanten used by local communities especially for bathing and washing. These waters get pressures by anthropogenic disturbances. Objective of the study is to evaluate water quality of Situ Cibanten based on their plankton diversity. The study conducted from April – July 2014 at Situ Cibanten, district Ciomas, Serang Regency. Plankton sample taken using plankton net no.25 (mesh 55 – 60 µm) and observed at Aquaculture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Banten Province. The research use purpossive sampling methods to determine the sampling stations. Plankton diversity calculated using Shannon Weaver diversity index. The results showed plankton diversity index value at Situ Cibanten range from 0.57 – 1.09, which is classified low diversity index and fall into the category heavy polluted
The Effect of Different Substrat of Culture of Nereis sp.
Polychaeta is one of aquaculture commodity which is used as feed for shrimp broodstock, fish feed, biofilter, bioindicator and some species can be consumed by humans. The lack of information about polychaeta culture in Indonesia, become the point of interest of this research. The aims of this study is to determine the substrate type as a culture media. The research uses a different type of substrates such as mangrove mud, white sand and brown sand, with three time replication. The research conduct the Laboratory of Aquaculture, Fisheries Department, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Survival rate and spesific growth rate was measured as a research parameters. The methods used in this research is a completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed the use of mangrove mud as a substrate there are significantly different (P<0.05). Give the best result with the value of survival rate 85.18%±3.21 and spesific growth rate 3.36%±0.71. Based on the results of the research indicate that the use of substrates mangrove mud gives the best effect
Effect of Different Strain of Kappaphycus alvarezii on Specific Growth Rate
This study aimed to analyze the differences strains in the characteristics of the specific growth rate Kappaphycus alvarezii. This research was conducted in the waters of Lontar village, Serang Banten for 45 days in May-June. The treatment used is a strain difference seaweed seedlings derived from tissue culture (KJL-Lampung), strain “Jumbo kuning coklat” (JKC-Lontar) and strain “Jumbo hijau botol” (JHB Taman Jaya). This study used an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three treatments and each 3 replication. Culture method of seaweed used off-bottom methode. Parameters measured were the specific growth rate and water quality. The results showed that the specific growth rate in seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii strain JHB-Taman Jaya higher than the specific growth rate of seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii strain JKC-Lontar and KJL-Lampung. Therefore, for maintenance in May-June should be planted seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii strain JHB-Taman Jaya
The Metabolism Rate of Tilapia with Measured Oxygen Consumption
Metabolism is a physiological process reflecting the energy expenditure of living organisms and hence their food requirements. This research aimed to determine the metabolic rate of tilapia with measured oxygen consumption. The results showed that protein and fat experienced the largest decline compared with carbohydrates. Value decreased levels of 0.47% protein, carbohydrate and fat of 0.05% and 0.42%. Respiration of Question value are the smallest in the 36th hour. The increase in the level of oxygen consumption will be followed by increasing the metabolic rate. Value respiration question does not necessarily indicate the rate of metabolism in tilapia
Anticancer Activity of Protein Fungus Xylaria psidii KT30
Previous research shows that protein of an algicolous fungus Xylaria psidii KT30 inhibited HeLa cell with an average 264.7 μg/mL. To enhance the potent anticancer activity of extracellular protein from Xylaria psidii KT30, the present research demonstrated purification of its secreted protein. Anticancer against Chang cell line (liver cell) and HeLa cell line (cervical cancer) was done by MTT cytotoxic method. Protein concentration assay was done by bicinchoninic acid (BCA) protein assay kit. Anticancer assay showed protein of fungus KT30 was not toxic against Chang cell line and HeLa cell line. Based on calculation, IC50 value protein of fraction ammonium sulfat 90% and fractions 11-12 were 670.86 and 1451.68 µg/mL. The protein concentration of fraction ammonium sulfat 90% and fractions 11-12 were 9.013 and 0.604 mg/mL
Feed Digestibility in Catfish (Pangasius sp.) with the Addition of Different Dose of Prebiotics
Catfish (Pangasius sp.) is one of the freshwater fish which have high economic value. The optimal level of protein to support the growth of catfish ranged from 25 - 35%. The aims of this research was to the know effect of the addition of prebiotics in the improvement of feed digestibility value in catfish. The results showed that the total digestibility was 81.68 ± 2.46%, protein digestibility was 90.71 ± 0.77%, fat digestibility was 87.05 ± 1.07%, crude fiber digestibility was 49.79 ± 8.51% and energy digestibility was 87.25 ± 3.40%. The best results of feed was found in the addition of 3% prebiotic
Fuel Consumption of Tubular Lamp and Led Lamp in Generator Set On Laboratory Scale
Utilization of light as artificial attractant has grown rapidly since electric lamp discovered. The use of energy saving lamp is one way to reduce operation costs, because almost all of the energy from generator is used to turn on the lights. The research aimed to analyze distribution of light illumination and fuel consumption of tubular lamp and LED lamp that can be used by fishermen in fishing operations. This study use 12.5 watts LED lamp and 24 watts tubular lamp each 5 pieces. Measurement of light illumination with a cover and without cover was conducted at distance 1 meter from the light source starts from the angle 0°-180° with angle 10° of intervals. Fuel consumption testing performed for 1 hour with 5 times repetition. The highest of light illumination of LED lamp without cover is 189 lux at angle 0°, while the tubular lamp is 152 lux at angle 40°. The highest of light illumination of LED lamp with cover is 236 lux at angle 0° and 10°, while the tubular lamp is 223 lux at angle 0°. Fuel consumption of LED lamp have average 405.16 ml for one hour, while 514.78 ml for tubular lamp. The average of electrical power was spent to turn on 5 LED lamp is 46.7 watts, while for 5 tubular lamp is 106.8 watts
Optimazion Different Feeding on Growth and Survival Rate of Tiger Grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus)
This research aim to find out about the growth and survival rate of tiger grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) that in feed with artificial feed, goldband goatfish (Upeneus moluccensis), silverbelly (Leiognathus sp.), and goldstripe sardinella (Sardinella gibbosa). Tiger grouper reared in ponds for 63 days. Tiger grouper seed used size 30 g and feed twice a day by 10% of the weight of the fish biomass. The results showed that the highest survival rate in fish feed goldband goatfish and goldstripe sardinella (100%±0.00) and the lowest in fish fed pellets and silverbelly (98.89%±1.92). The highest growth in absolute weight of fish meal which sardinella goldstripe 49.05g ± 0.20 and the lowest in fish fed pellets 42.25 g±0.20. Based on the analysis of variance showed that the meal was not significantly different (P> 0.05) on the survival rate of tiger grouper and significantly (P <0.05) on the growth of the absolute weight of absolute tiger grouper
Study on Morphometric and Meristic Trait of Lady Fish Elops hawaiensis in the Northern Waters of Banten Province
The ladyfish Elops hawaiensis is an important fisheries commodities in northern coast of Banten Province, which their availability were indispensible to the season. In this study the ladyfish were ranged between 17-36 cm. In morphometric measurement of the head part, haead length, width of open mouth, height of dorsal fin, height of the head, and operculum length have significant differences. The body scale of the ladyfish of Kronjo and Mauk has ranged 68-86, while ladyfish of Domas has ranged 60-82. Identification equation of the dorsal fin was D 20-24 and C 23-30 for caudal fin, the form of the caudal fin was a fork and has no hard radian. The anal fin has an equation A 14-15, ventral fin and pectoral fin has equation V 18-2 included in the meristic calculation
The Addition of Sweet Potato Varieties Cilembu as a Prebiotics to Increase Growht of Catfish (Pangasius sp.)
This study aimed to evaluate the role of sweet potato varieties as a source of prebiotic cilembu in catfish feed. The experiment were done with four treatments and three replicates, are treatment A (prebiotic 0%), B (prebiotic 0.5%), C (prebiotic 1%) and D (prebiotic 1.5%). Fish were fed three time daily in at satiation. The results showed that addition of prebiotics 0.5% on commercial diets can increase the value of the number of bacteria population was 9.42±0.03 log CFU/ ml, protein retention was 28.51±4.91%, lipid retention was 70.60±13.17%, protein efficiency Ratio (PER) was 137.93±22.06%, Specific Growth Rates (SGR) was 1.81±0.20%, feed efficiency was 36.10±5.77% and Survival Rate (SR) was 97.78±3.85%
