Fishery Industry Development in Morotai Island Regency: A Scientific Concept for Integrated Economics Model
The development of the fisheries industry in Morotai Island District faces major challenges in investment climate recently. Those investment is influenced by fisheries resources, infrastructure, markets and institutions. This paper aims to describe the fishery industry in Morotai Island District, analyze the concept of the fishery industry model, and formulate a strategy for economic integration. Primary data was taken using a structured questionnaire through interviews with respondents and focused group discussions (FGD). The primary information is supplemented by secondary data obtained from district statistical data, research reports, and related scientific publications. Data were analyzed using four methods, namely: descriptive analysis; Analysis of Strengthen, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT); Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis; and MIC-MAC analysis. The results from the analysis show the integrated marine and fisheries center (SKPT) policy implementation has had a positive effect on the fisheries industry development in Morotai Island. There are four main influence aspects: (1) marine and fisheries resources (SDKP) management; (2) economic and business development; (3) community development; and (4) regulatory and synergies. The strategy of economic integration is focused on the implementation of the fisheries industry model as the production and export base for fresh tuna.
Identification of Antibiotic-Producing Bacteria from Extreme Microhabitat in Molecular Mangrove Ecosystems and Their Activity on Pathogenic Bacteria (Vibrio alginolyticus)
The presence of antibiotic-producing bacteria from microhabitat in mangrove ecosystems can be useful to produce new antibiotics for industrial and environmental conservation. Mangrove ecosystems in Dumai have the potential to possess antibiotic-producing bacteria that have not been much studied. The objective of this research was to obtain antibiotic-producing bacteria from extreme microhabitats in the mangrove ecosystem in suppressing the growth of pathogenic bacterial pathogens (Vibrio alginolyticus). Samples were taken from several microhabitat mangrove areas in Dumai (Kelurahan Purnama Dumai), Riau Province. The survey method is used for identification, antibacterial test against pathogenic bacteria (V. alginolyticus). Bacterial isolation was carried out using the pour plate method and purification was carried out using the quadrant streak method. Identification is carried out through observations of macroscopic, microscopic morphology, biochemical tests, antagonism tests (agar diffusion method on agar nutrient media) and DNA analysis. Sequencing of 16S rDNA from the best antibiotic-producing bacterial isolates indicated that molecularly identified of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus cereus, Enterobacter hormaechei, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Enterococcus gallinarum. Condition Correlation of Coral Reef and Abundance of Indicators Reef Fish in Mandrajaya Water Ciletuh Geopark West Java
The coral reef ecosystem has role as feeding and nursery ground for indicator reef fishes. Coral reef ecosystems in recent years has decline in function, globally the area of coral reefs has decline about 11%. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the condition of life coral reef with the abundance of indicators reef fish. This research was conducted in the waters of Mandrajaya (Ciletuh Geopark) with 5 stations. The method used in this research is Line Intercept Transect (LIT) and Underwater Visual Census (UVC). Data observed were the percentage of live coral and dead coral, as well as the number of indicator reef fish found. Results show that the percentage value of life coral is 51.17% dominated by the CF (Coral Foliose) category, this value shows that the condition of living coral cover is included in the good category. The obtained Mortality Index is worth 0.43 (low), this value is obtained from the ratio of life coral and dead coral. A total number of indicators reef fish is 31 individuals / 1750m² from four species, dominated by Chaetodon octofasciatus (12 individuals). Correlation between life coral cover and abundance of indicators reef fish was positive and had a sufficient relationship on both variables (r = 0.58) with a determinant coefficient of 48%
Coastal Morphological Dynamics of Tangerang Regency Banten and Indah Kapuk Beach Jakarta through Google Earth Imagery Analysis
Tangerang Regency experienced very high coastal dynamic processes, caused by natural factors (abrasion and accretion) and anthropoligical factor (reclamation). This study aims to determine the latest condition of the Tangerang regency coastal dynamics as well as Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area of Jakarta by using analysis of Google Earth images. The land area changing was calculated through visual interpretation approached by using on-screen digitizing. The applications used are Google Earth Pro 7.1.5.1557 and ArcGIS 10.2. Out of a total of 23 coastal villages, abrasion occurred in almost 20 villages. The highest abrasion phenomenon occurred in Kohod village, Pakuhaji district, with a land area lost of 71.55 ha during the 2004-2019 period. The highest accretion process occured at the estuary of the Cisadane river which was in Tanjungburung village, Teluknaga district. While the highest reclamation activity taken place in the village of Kosambi Timur with the total area of the reclaiming beach reached 56.54 ha. In both villages, Kosambi Timur and Dadap, District of Kosambi, the reclamation did not only occur at sea, but also on land. The area of fishponds that has been reclaimed and converted into the New Urban Zone of Pantura is about 936,78 ha. This is the largest fishpond conversion into a city ever happened in Indonesia. As a comparison, the conversion of aquaculture land to urban land had occurred previously in PIK Jakarta with the area of converted ponds around 678 ha
Gonad Maturity Rate of Gray Eeltailed Catfish with Different hCG Induction
Gray eeltailed catfish is one of the local commodities in the Riau Islands. Domestication and aquaculture has not been done. Reproduction is one of problems in the Aquaculture effort. Gonadal maturity is stage preparation of the prospective parent for spawning process. One of efforts to gonad maturation is hormonal induction. This study purpose to determine effect of various brands hCG hormones on gonad maturity and determine the best hCG hormone brands that can accelerate the maturity of gonad fish crossing optimally. The research design was a completely randomized design with 5 treatments (hCG Polaris hormone, hCG sifation, hCG Chorullon, Oodev and NaCl solvent with 3 replications. The best hCG hormone is the hCG Polaris hormone reaching gonad maturation II. Analysis of Environmental Microbiology of the Green Mussels (Perna viridis) Culture in the Waters of Tanjung Kait, Tangerang, Banten
Microbiology parameter is one important factor for the success of green mussels culture. Characteristic of green mussels as the filter feeder might be contaminated easily by the diluted toxin as well as the carrier of pathogens. This research aims to find out the amount of contamination of pathogenic bacteria. Samples of water and the green mussels were taken from the waters of Tanjung Kait, Tangerang, Banten and were then identified in the Laboratory of Fish Diseases Investigation and Environment in Pasauran, Serang. Analysed bacteriological parameters were total Coliform, as well as the species of E coli, Salmonella sp., a total of aerobic bacteria and Vibrio. The result of seawater quality and green mussel showed that the total abundance of Coliform cell was lower than <3 until 240 MPN/ml in water and about 8,3 until >1600 MPN/g in green mussel, E.coli was < 3 until 43 MPM/ml in water and 0,18 until 130 MPM/g in green mussel, negative result for Salmonella sp. neither in water nor in green mussels. Total aerobic bacteria was found about 34-880 x102 CFU/ml in water, 24-980 x104 CFU/ml in the sediment and 12-100 x107 CFU/ml in green mussel. The result of Vibrio in water was about 50-340 CFU/ml, 4,4-88 x102 CFU/g in sediment and 0,082-25 x104 CFU/ml in the green mussels. Salmonella was found the negative test results in accordance with predefined standards, both with the seawater quality standard based on biological parameters and SNI 7388-2009 regarding the limit of microbial contamination of foods, while for other pathogenic bacteria parameters still above the predefined standard
The Spawning of Koi (Cyprinus carpio) using Semi-Artificial Method: The Observation of Fecundity, Fertilization Rate and Hatching Rate
Semi-artificial spawning is spawning which is done by providing hormonal stimulation to the boordstock, but the process of ovulation occurs naturally. This study aims to determine the fecundity, Fertilization Rate (FR), and Hatching Rate (HR) in koi fish spawned by the semi-artificial spawning method. Spawning was done by injecting ovaprim dose 0.5 ml / kg broodstock weight. Spawning was done three times for the three type of Koi broodstock. Spawning I for the broodstock of Platinum (1.2 kg), spawning II for the broodstock of Shiro (2.4 kg), and spawning III for the broodstock of Sanke (2.2 kg). Fecundity obtained from spawning I to III were 100.000, 250.000 and 300.000, respectively. The fertilization Rate (FR) obtained from spawning I to III were 78%, 83%, and 71%, respectively. The Effectiveness of Aquaponic Systems with Different Types of Plants on the Water Quality of Fish Culture Media
This study aims to determine the effect of aquaponic systems with different types of plants on the water quality of sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) aquaculture. This research was conducted from June to August 2018 at the Ciparanje Fish Farming Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. The fish used were sangkuriang catfish seeds (Clarias gariepinus) aged 54 days with a length of 5-7 cm and a weight of 5 grams that were kept in a 1 m2 fibre container with a density of 100 individuals/fiber. Plant growth media used using gutters with an area of planting media that is 0.8 x 0.3 m. The method used in this study is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. Treatment A (Spinach plants), Treatment B (Pakcoy plants), Treatment C (Lettuce), and Treatment D (control). The parameters observed in this study were water quality, which included dissolved oxygen content, pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrate, and phosphate. The research data were analyzed using Variance Analysis with a level of 5% and continued with Duncan's multiple range test while the water quality data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the values of temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pH were 25.1-27.0oC, 6.3-7.5 mg / L, 7.0-7.8. The lowest ammonia value was found in treatment A using water spinach that is equal to 0.001 mg/L
