Evaluation of fermented of Palm Kernel Meal by Saccharomyces cerevisiae in Tilapia Fed
Palm kernel meal (PKM) is the potential of raw material for feed fish ingredient because it has good nutritional content and abundant availability in Indonesia. The study was conducted to evaluate of PKM fermented as feedstuffs as well as the effect on feed digestibility of tilapia. This research consisted of 2 trials: the the test of S. cerevisiae fermentation on PKM and digestibility test of PKM as feedstuffs. The first trial used a factorial randomized design consisting of 2 factors: S. cerevisiae dose (0; 0.9; 1.5%) and incubation time (0, 24, 48 hours) with 3 replications. The second trial used a completely randomized design consisting of 3 treatment of test feed, namely A: reference feed, B: reference feed + PKM, C: reference feed + PKM fermented and 4 replications. Fish (initial weight: 5.34 ± 0.14 g) were reared in an aquarium for 40 days with a recirculation system. The results showed that the fermented of 1.5% S. cerevisiae and time incubation for 24 hours recorded the lowest crude fiber content (8.86 ± 0.51%). The highest total digestibility value (P <0.05) was found in treatment A (45.36 ± 2.17%) and C (46.61 ± 2.36%) compared to treatment B (38.46 ± 1, 07%). The highest protein digestibility value significantly (P <0.05) was found in treatments A and C (72.89 ± 4.57%, 74.27±1.26%, respectively) than treatment B (58.70 ± 3.57%). Finally, it can be concluded that the fermentation of PKM by S. cerevisiae can be used as feedstuffs for tilapia feed
Aeromonas hydrophila Bivalen Vaccines to Improve Body Resistance catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) Against Attacks Motile Aeromonas Septicemia
Motile aeromonas septicemia/MAS diseases due to Aeromonas hydrophila infection is an obstacle in cultivation of catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus). MAS control can be done by administering vaccines. The purpose of this research is to get the right and effective dose of bivalent vaccine for controlling MAS at catfish. Both isolates will be used as vaccines are local strains of A. hydrophila CASO.01.G and SBMI.2. Both of them were isolated from disease catfish in the aquaculture ponds in Cindai Alus and Sungai Batang villages, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan. Vaccines are made by heating (heat killed) at 100oC for 60 minutes. A total of 13 test catfish measuring 9-13 cm were included in each aquarium. The design used was a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely bivalent vaccine with a dose of 109 cells/ml, 108 cells/ml, 107 cells/ml, 106 cells/ml, and control (PBS solution pH 7.0). The highest antibody titers in treatments vaccinated fish at a dose of 107 cells / ml (1,706.67). The effectiveness of the vaccine can be seen by the high RPS value of the treatment dose 109 cells/ml (97.22%); 108 cells/ml (100%); 107 cells/ml (97.22%); and 106 cells/ml (100%). The control MTD value was 1 day with 97.43% mortality, while in the vaccine treatment with dose of 107 cells/ml, there was a MTD repeat value for 1 day, but only 1 fish died. Operational Performance of Palabuhanratu Nusantara Fishing Port (NFP) Sukabumi, West Java
This study aims to analyze operational activities and determinants of the performance of NFP Palabuhanratu. This research was conducted in January 2020 to April 2020 at NFP Palabuhanratu. Data analysis was performed using two methods; the first is a descriptive method which is to analyze the operational activities of NFP Palabuhanratu; the second is the Structural Equation Model (SEM) method, which is to determine the determinants of the performance of NFP Palabuhanratu. The results of this study indicate that the operational activities of NFP Palabuhanratu continue to increase. Fishing boat visits in 2019 increased was 37.136 . Fish production in 2019 increase as many as 36.44% compared to the previous year. Based on SEM test results, Internal has the most influence on NFP performance. This shows that the higher the internal, the higher the performance of NFP. Therefore the management of NFP Pelabuhan Ratu is expected to improve the quality of HR / NFP Managers in the form of education, skills and work culture, increase the budget allocation of UPT, improve the quality of Fishermen / Processors / Marketers in the form of education, skills and experience, increase fisherman productivity in the form of technology, income and production. Literature Study of The Potential of Moringa Oleifera Leaves Powder Supplementation to Enhance The Coloration of Ornamental Fish
Efforts to maintain good ornamental fish are by providing the quality of feed. The quality of feed is assessed from the best nutritional content as well as economical and can increase the brightness of ornamental fish. Feeds with pigment carotenoids complexes are known to be the main sources of ornamental fish skin pigmentation. A literature study was conducted to explore the benefits of Moringa oleifera leaves powder to improve the color of ornamental fish through carotenoid content. Based on the results of literature studies, supplementation of these natural products has potentially elevated the color brightness of ornamental fish at carotenoid dose 520 mg/kg. Further research on the potential and formulation of M. oleifera leaves powder supplementation impact color brightness of ornamental fish in vivo is very important to explain the mechanism of carotenoids in influencing the physical color brightness of ornamental fis
Byssogenesis of Green Mussel Perna viridis as a Biomarker of Microplastic Pollution
The presence of microplastic in the enviroment is a problem because they are persistent and they are consumed by organisms. Microplastic will affect aquatic life as a result various types of contamination in the aquatic enviroment can enter the body of green mussel. The ability to develop mussel is determined by the strength of the byssus. Utilization of green mussel byssus as biomarker to detect microplastic pollution is still a rare thing to do. The purpose of this study is to know the microplastic effect on the production off green mussel byssus. Green mussel with lengths of 4.1 - 5.0 cm were collected from Maccini Baji Water, Labakkang District, Pangkep Regency. The experimental desigh used is a Completely Randomized Design exposure was carried out for 7 days with microplastics concentration namely 0, 0.05, 0.5 and 5 g/L using polyethylene microplastics usually used as a raw material for scrub bath. The results of study show that production of green mussel byssus exposed at all concentration on day 1-6 were not significantly different at all concentration, but 7 days there significantly different 0 g/L treatment 0 g/L from 5 g/L. Combination of Ara (Ficus racemosa) and Singkong Leaf (Manihot utillisima) in Cat Fish (Pangasius hypophthalmus)
One of the problem cultuvation of catfish in the North of Kalimantan is the cost of commercial fish feed in the market is relative expensive. The alternative that can be effort is make feeds by homemade with utilizing local ingredients from nature that is no economi value like fig fruit (F. racemosa) and cassava leaves (M. utillisima) the plants are commonly found in Malinau District. The purpose of the research is to find out the growth of catfish seeds (P. hypophthalmus) by using a combination of fig fruit (F. racemosa) and cassava leaves (M. utillisima). This research using experimental method, completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The data obtained were processed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with test least significant difference. The best absolute weight growth of catfish (P. hypophthalmus) at the treatment D was (1.21 grams), the best absolute length growth at treatment D was (1.09 cm), the best specific growth at the thirty five (0,013%), the best Feed Covertion Ratio for treatment D was (2.11%) and the best Survival Rate for treatment D was (96.67), while the water quality in ammonia on the threatment A was not better than the optimal value 1 mg / L. Combined feed in treatment C is the best treatment compared to treatments A and B, but the combination feed is still unable to produce better growth when compared to treatment D (Commercial)
Analysis of The Shark Fisheries Sustainability in Cilacap Regency, Central Java
In terms of supporting sustainable fisheries management for sharks, information is needed so that the goals of sustainable management can be realized. In this case the management covers the ecological, economic, social and technological dimensions. The purpose of this study is to determine the sustainability status of Shark Fish based in Cilacap Regency based on ecological, economic, social and technological dimensions, determining the right strategy in sustainable shark fisheries management based in Cilacap Regency. This research was conducted from March to June 2018 in Cilacap Regency, this study used a survey method. Data collected related to the sustainability aspects of shark commodity fisheries in Cilacap Regency included ecological, technological, economic and social dimensions using questionnaire tools. Analysis for the sustainability of the Shark fisheries in Cilacap Regency The sustainability of shark fisheries in Cilacap Regency uses the Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries (RAPFISH) method. RAPFISH (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries) was developed by Fisheries Center, University of British Columbia in 1999; Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries (RAPFISH) is a fisheries sustainability assessment method based on a multidimensional scaling approach. The dimensions in RAPFISH concern aspects of sustainability from ecology, economics, technology, social and ethics. Sustainability Status Multidimensional Shark Fisheries is less sustainable with a score of 43.28. The ecological dimension (56.56) and technology (55.51) is quite continuous, the economic dimension is less sustainable (45.63) and social conditions are unsustainable (15.42). Preliminary Study of Caridina kaili Domestication, Endemic Shrimp to Lake Lindu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia
Caridina kaili is one of the endemic shrimp in Lake Lindu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. This shrimp has beautiful color and potential as ornamental shrimp, so it needs to be domesticated. The successful ex situ breeding of C. kaili is also expected to avoid overexploitation the shrimp in their habitat in the future. The aim of this study to analized habitat characteristics, survival during and rearing after transportation, percentage of moulting and growth of C. kaili during post-transport rearing. Shrimp are collected in two inlet rivers in Lake Lindu, Uwe Pada and Uwe Lembosa. Transportation using a closed system with a density of 15 ind./L. Shrimp from Uwe Pada are transported for 8 hours 8 minutes, while shrimp from Uwe Lembosa 11 hours 39 minutes. The results showed that C. kaili lives in the shore of streams which have slow current and clear, substrate is coarse sand, mud-sand and leaf litter, and plant roots. The habitat has a temperature range of 18.9-22.7°C; pH 7.73-8.17 and dissolved oxygen 1.99-2.11 mg/L. Survival and percentage molting during transport ranges from 96-100% and 4-5%. During post-transportation rearing, the final survival of shrimp from Uwe Pada is higher (88%) compared to Uwe Lembosa (67%). Higher moulting percentage of shrimp from Uwe Lembosa (27.6-31.4%) and lower growth (0.31 cm long and 0.56 g weight) compared to shrimp from Uwe Pada (moulting 19.6-22.2%, 0.56 cm long and 0.81 g weight), indicate stress conditions of shrimp from Uwe Lembosa due to longer transportation. Vulnerability of Baitfishes of Handline and Lift Net Fishing Gear that Landed in Kendari, Bitung, Wakatobi and Larantuka Fishing Port
The high intensity of catching has an impact on decreasing stock, vulnerability, which has the potential affect to stock sustainability; such vulnerabilities include the baitfishs group in tuna fisheries. Vulnerability studies of baitfishs in Bitung, Wakatobi, Kendari and Larantuka in July 2013 were carried out to find out the pressure caused. The data collected is the parameter of productivity and perception of fish. The catches besides tuna are skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), Indian Scad (Decapterus russelli), little tuna (Euthynuss affinis), Squid (Loligo loligo.), Anchovies (Stelophorus commersonii) and Sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata). Based on MSC (Marine Steward Council) Vulnerability Criteria, vulnerability index in Bitung (skipjack = 85.6; scad = 98.9; little tuna = 96.2), Wakatobi (scad = 97.9; squid = 98.5) and Kendari (skipjack= 85.6; anchovies = 98.5) and Sardinella fimbriata is about 96 in Larantuka. Physico-Chemical Properties of Semi Refined Carrageenan (SRC) Kappaphycus alvarezii from Karimun, Riau Islands, Indonesia
Carrageenan is a non-fish fishery product derived from the extraction of red seaweed (Rhodophyceae) Kappaphycus alvarezii. It is generally used in the field of cosmetics industry, textiles, food, pharmaceutical, stabilizer and gel formation. The objective of this study was to determine the physico-chemical properties of semi refined carrageenan (SRC) on red seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii). The research phase included the preparation of raw materials for Kappaphycus alvarezii and making SRC, then followed by physico-chemical analysis, yield, moisture content, ash content, acid insoluble ash content, gel strength, viscosity, melting point, and cumulative point. The Physico-chemical SRC observations were yields of 24.80%, the water content of 19.20%, ash content of 16.34%, insoluble ash content in acid 0.31, the strength of gel 376.46 g/cm2, viscosity 139.47 cP, melting point 55.700C, graduation point 380C
