    No full text
Abstract We investigated a participatory design of rehabilitation technology for people with disabilities. Conventionally, rehabilitation technology is designed through the collaboration of medical experts and professional engineers. Potential users of the technology are introduced onlyat the testingstageafterthe proof ofconcepthas been established andworkingprototypes have been constructed, leading to insufficient scope for modification. However, rehabilitation technology that does not address the needs of people often results in decreased efficacy and its eventual nonuse. In our study, we used action research to guide the development of rehabilitationtechnology. People withdisabilities wereinvited to participate in designing the assistive technology at the outset of the project and played the role of experts in living with disabilities. They acted as resources and assets in the process of developing and validating the technology. Keywords Rehabilitation.Disabilities.Technology.Actionresearch.Servicelearning. AbstractLyme disease (borreliosis) is one of the most common vector-borne diseases worldwide. Its incidence and geographic expansion hasbeen steadily increasing in the last decades. Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, a heterogeneous group ofwhich three genospecies have been systematically associated to Lyme disease: B. burgdorferi sensu stricto Borrelia afzelii andBorrelia garinii. Geographical distribution and clinical manifestations vary according to the species involved. Lyme disease clinicalmanifestations may be divided into three stages. Early localized stage is characterized by erythema migrans in the tick bite site. Earlydisseminated stage may present multiple erythema migrans lesions, borrelial lymphocytoma, lyme neuroborreliosis, carditis, orarthritis. The late disseminated stage manifests with acordermatitis chronica atrophicans, lyme arthritis, and neurological symptoms.Diagnosis is challenging due to the varied clinical manifestations it may present and usually involves a two-step serologicalapproach. In the current review, we present a thorough revision of the clinical manifestations Lyme disease may present.Additionally, history, microbiology, diagnosis, post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome, treatment, and prognosis are discussed. Keywords Lyme disease . Since the beginning of industrial capitalism, labor resistance and control havebeen central problems for management. Workplace and management practices have tended to develop in reflectionof this context, while forming an important component of it, with social as well aseconomic consequences. This chapter addresses these practices, the conditionsunder which they have developed from the 1950s to present, and what some oftheir consequences have been. Although focus is on the practices believed to bedominant at various points in time, variation across and within nations is alsoaddressed
