    The analysis of Onomatopoeia in French childern’s songs

    The purpose of this research is to learn the various forms of French onomatopoeia and the structure of onomatopoeia in French children's songs and its implications in French language lessons. The source of this study was obtained from 11 French childern’s songs on YouTube. This study uses the referential matching method. In addition, the technique used in this study is sort the determining element (Pilah Unsur Penentu/PUP) then the next technique is the technique of equalizing comparison (Hubung Banding Menyamakan/HBM). Based on the data of this study, there are 12 data of animal sounds (bruits des animaux), 6 data of the sounds of manufactured produced by objects (bruits produits par des objetures), 4 data of the sounds of human body (bruits du corps humain), and 2 data of the sounds of nature (bruit de la nature). Then the results for structure of onomatopoeia 15 structure of monosyllabic ononatopoeias, 6 disyllabic and 6 multisyllabic. The results of this study can be implemented for learning French in high school especially for senior high school in the junior class (class X) in KD 3.8 in the study of exemplify French songs lyrics (parole d’une chanson) or for french lessons in public.Keywords: French, childern’s songs, onomatopoeia, semantic

    The effectiveness of using word chain games towards the students’ vocabulary mastery at SMPN 26 Bandar Lampung

    The research aimed to find out whether there was a significant effect of using word chain games towards students’ vocabulary mastery in the teaching-learning process. This research was conducted on the eight grade students of SMPN 26 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2021/2022 in the second semester. Class VIII B consisting of 28 students was chosen as the sample of this research. This research was quantitative. The design used was one group pre-test and post-test. The instrument was a vocabulary test that consisted of two parts that were pre-test and a post-test and the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test in SPSS 23. The results showed that the students’ mean score on the pre-test was 41.00 and the mean score on the post-test was 68.43. Besides, the improvement of students’ mean scores from the pre-test to the post-test was 27.42 and the p-value of a significant level was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05. Therefore, H1 is accepted that there is a significant effect of using word chain games towards students’ vocabulary mastery

    Improving students' vocabulary mastery using rotating trio exchange model at the tenth grade of vocational high school

    The objectives of this research are to find out whether there was significant difference on students' vocabulary mastery after being taught using the Rotating Trio Exchange model, to find out what aspects of vocabulary improve the most after students are taught using the Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE) model, and to find out students' responses after being taught using this model. This research was designed as mixed method research and it was conducted at SMK Amal Bakti Jatimulyo. The subjects of the research were 30 students from the tenth grade of Accounting. The data were collected through vocabulary test and closed-ended questionnaire. After that, the researcher used mixed method analysis to analyze the data. The results showed that there is significant difference on students' vocabulary mastery after being taught using the Rotating Trio Exchange model. The students' mean score improved by 14.75 from pretest to posttest. Through hypothesis testing, it shown that the result of computation of the value of two tailed significance was 0.000<0.005, it means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. In addition, there was also an improvement in four vocabulary aspects on the posttest: nouns (2.21, 14.99%), verbs (4.06, 27.52%), adjectives (4.42, 29.97%), and adverbs (4.06, 27.52%) and adjectives became the most improved aspect. The results also showed that the majority of students give positive response to this model. There is 91% of positive responses and 9% of negative responses in using this model. This suggest that RTE model has a positive effect on students’ vocabulary mastery

    Correlation between students’ motivation and students’ vocabulary mastery

    The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not there was a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and students’ motivation. It was quantitative research. The researcher employed 30 students of SMPN 22 Bandar Lampung as the sample. The instruments of this research were motivation questionnaire and vocabulary test. The collected data were analysed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation in SPSS 24.0. The result showed that there is correlation between students’ motivation and students’ vocabulary mastery, with the score of the r table .640 this referring to medium correlation

    The effect of using Duolingo application on students' English vocabulary mastery at SMPN 3 Natar

    The aims of the research are to find out if there is a significant difference in students' vocabulary achievement after being taught through the Duolingo application and students' perceptions after being taught through the Duolingo application. The design used in this research is One group Pre-test and Post-test design. The design used in the qualitative approach is descriptive qualitative analysis. The sample consisted of 27 students in class VIII A of SMP Negeri 3 Natar. The Instruments are vocabulary tests and interview questions. The data are in the form of scorestaken from the pre-test and post-test. The results of this research show that students' vocabularyhave increased which is influenced by the use of Duolingo. It is proven by students’ vocabularyscore gain is 17,97 from 56,66 in the pre-test to 78,85 in the post-test. It also can be seen from the value of the t test is 15,64 higher than t-table which is 2,052. Furthermore, the result of the interview shows that students found it easy and fun when learn vocabulary by using of Duolingo application. Therefore, it can be concluded that students have different perceptions when using the Duolingo application in classroom learning and the Duolingo application provides a positive impact on students when applied in class as a learning medium.Keywords: Vocabulary, Duolingo Application, Teaching, Improving

    Indirect corrective feedback on the students’ grammatical errors in writing by the third year students of MA Al-Fatah Lampung

    The objectives of this research are 1) to find out the types of grammatical errors that XII MA Al-Fatah students encountered in their writing and 2) to find out the effect of teacher’s indirect corrective feedback on the students’ capability of grammar. The approach of this research was qualitative. There were 20 students of the third-grade chosen randomly. Writing test was used to collect the data. The result showed that the students made error in grammar mostly in misformation error as 38%. In addition, based on the result of the test analysis in the table Repeated Measure T-test, hypothesis is not accepted because the Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.874 > 0.05. It means that there was no effect in teacher’s indirect corrective feedback on the students’ capability of grammar, especially for the students of MA Al-Fatah Lampung. Keywords: writing, grammatical error, indirect corrective feedback, error analysis.

    Direct written corrective feedback to improve students' writing achievement

    The objectives of the research were to find out whether there was any improvement of the students’ writing skill in recount text after they have been taught by implementing direct written corrective feedback and to find out which aspect of writing that improves the most after the implementation of direct written corrective feedback in terms of micro skills. This research is a quantitative research. The design used was  one group pretest and posttest because the students’ writing skill was measured in one group of participants before and after the treatments were administered. The subjects were 28 students of class VIII A of SMPN 38 Bandar Lampung. The instrument was a writing test in form of essay. The data were in form of scores taken from the pretest and posttest and were analyzed by using Paired Sample t- test. The result showed there was a statistically improvement of students’ writing skill in recount text viewed from the pretest score to the posttest score (60.91 to 76.39) after they have been taught by implementing direct written corrective feedback. Furthermore, the feedback technique was not only effective in improving students’ recount writing in general, but also effective in improving students’ score in all aspects of writing: content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanics.  Language use was the aspect of writing that improved the most by direct feedback technique in terms of micro skills. Keywords: Direct written corrective feedback, recount text, writing

    Students’ perceptions related to the use of English song in grammar learning

    ABSTRACTGrammar is a subject that is considered difficult by many people, including students. The number of existing formulas makes students less interested in learning them. Therefore, we need a fun learning media to encourage student interest. One of them is by using English song media. This study aims to identify students' perspectives on the use of English songs in learning grammar. The song used in this study is a song from Imagine Dragons entitled Bad Liar. In this song, students will learn about the tenses in the lyrics of the song Bad Liar. This study uses a qualitative approach with six students as participants. These students come from various universities in Indonesia. Data was obtained through a questionnaire that had been filled out by students. This study shows that most students are motivated to learn grammar by using songs.     Polytechnic students’ perception toward the implementation of H5P-based interactive learning media on Learning Management System (LMS) of State Polytechnic of Lampung

    During the Covid-19 pandemic, learning activities on campus were carried out online, so lecturers and students were familiar with the LMS (Learning Management System). LMS in general is software designed to create, distribute and organize the delivery of learning material. Therefore, even though currently the majority of learning is done offline, this LMS is still used by lecturers to help them in the lecture process. This study aimed to know students’ perception towards the implementation of H5P-based interactive learning media on Learning Management System (LMS) of State Polytechnic of Lampung. Furthermore, this research used survey-based approach. There were 50 samples of the research. They were students of Economics and business department who took Basic English. The findings of this study are expected to be beneficial for the future maintenance and development of H5P-based interactive learning media on LMS, as well as for determining the optimal method of conducting online learning

    The correlation between University students’ involvement in AIESEC (Association Internationale des Etudians en Sciences Economique et Commerciales) and their English public speaking ability

    The objective of this research was to investigate whether or not there was a significant correlation between University students’ involvement in AIESEC and their English public speaking ability. The research involved 30 students of Lampung University by employing quantitative research by distributing questionnaire dealing with involvement in AIESEC and public speaking performance in order to collect the data. The data were analyzed using product moment correlation in SPSS 26.The result showed that University students’ involvement in AIESEC correlates with the public speaking ability with a significant correlation coefficient (r) 0.8. From the result, it can be concluded that University students’ involvement in AIESEC significantly contributes to students’ performance in public speaking.Keywords: Public speaking, University students’ involvement, AIESEC, correlation
