    Condition Factors and Length-Weight Relationships of Fifteen Important Fish Species in the Estuary of Manado Bay Indonesia

    This research aims to analyze condition factors and growth patterns of estuary fish in Manado Bay. Sampling was carried out at the river estuary in Manado Bay, the Pineleng River in Bahu, the Sario River estuary in Sario, the Tondano River estuary in Sindulang, and the Bailang River estuary in Tumumpa. Sampling was carried out in June and July 2023 in the new moon and full moon phases at each river mouth. The fishing gear uses a beach seine 20 m long with a net height of 2 m. Analysis of condition factors and growth patterns using a length-weight relationship approach. Fulton's Condition Factor: K=100W/L3 Where K is the condition factor, W is the weight of the fish and L is the length of the fish (total length). Relative condition factor: Kn=W/Ŵ, where W is the weight of the fish and Ŵ is the estimated weight of the fish from the analysis of the length-weight relationship. Allometric and isometric growth patterns with length-weight relationship analysis: W=aLb where W is the weight of the fish (g), L is the length of the fish (cm), a and b are constants. During the research, 43 fish species were obtained and 15 of them were classified as important species whose presence was ≥1% relative abundance. Fulton's K obtained ranged from 0.69-1.76, the lowest species was 0.69 Stolephorus commersonnii and the highest was 1.76 Neovespicula depressifrons. The Kn value obtained for almost all species was ≈ 1.0, except for Sillago sihama, which was much smaller, namely 0.77. The value of the constant b relationship between length and weight varied between 2.22 in Caranx ignobilis and 3.9 in Ambassis gymnocephalus. The growth pattern is isometric for six species, negative allometric for four species, and positive allometric for five species. Keywords: Species, condition, allomotric, isomatric. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk manganalisis factor kondisi dan pola pertumbuhan ikan muara sungai di Teluk Manado. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada muara sungai di teluk Manado,  Sungai Pineleng di Bahu, muara Sungai Sario di Sario, muara Sungai Tondano di Sindulang dan muara Sungai Bailang di Tumumpa.  Sampling dilakukan pada bulan Juni dan Juli fase bulan baru dan bulan purnama pada masing-masing muara sungai. Alat tangkap menggunakan pukat pantai panjang 20 m dengan tinggi jaring 2 m.  Analisis faktor kondisi dan pola pertumbuhan dengan pendekatan hubungan panjang-berat. Fulton’s Condition Factor: K=100W/L3 Di mana K adalah fator kondisi, W berat ikan dan L panjang ikan (panjang total).  Faktor kondisi relative:  Kn=W/Ŵ, di mana W adalah berat ikan dan Ŵ adalah berat ikan yang diduga dari analisis hubungan panjang-berat. Pola pertumbuhan allometrik dan isometrik dengan analisis hubungan panjang-berat: W=aLb dimana W adalah berat ikan (g), L panjang ikan (cm), a dan b adalah konstanta. Selama penelitian diperoleh 43 speses ikan dan 15 diantaranya tergolong speses penting yang kehadirannya ≥1% kelimpahan relatif. Fulton’s K diperoleh berkisar antara 0,69-1,76 spesies terendah 0,69 Stolephorus commersonnii  dan tertinggi 1,76 Neovespicula depressifrons.  Kn diperoleh hampir seluruh spesies nilai  ≈ 1,0 kecuali Sillago sihama jauh lebih kecil yakni 0,77.  Nilai konstatnta b hubungan panjang berat berfariasi antara 2,22 pada Caranx ignobilis dan 3,9 pada Ambassis gymnocephalus.  Pola pertumbuhan isometrik enam  spesies, allometrik negatif empat spesies dan allometrik positif lima spesies.     Utilization of Landsat 8/ETM+ and Google Earth Engine Images for Coastal Identification in Sungai Nibung Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan

    Changes in coastlines cause continuous processes through various processes, both abrasion and coastal accretion, which are caused by sediment movements and coastal currents. This research aims to map changes in the coastline in Sungai Nibung Village using multi-temporal imagery for 2013-2023 from Google Earth Engine (GEE). The benefit of this research is to see changes in the coastline of Sungai Nibung so that coastal area management, including abrasion disaster mitigation, can be carried out appropriately. The method used is a quantitative descriptive method from the results of processed NSM and EPR data from DSAS and the results of Landsat image digitization from GEE. The most extensive abrasion phenomenon results will occur in 2023, namely 64,924 m2 and accretion of 120,886 m2. Coastal changes digitized using ArcGIS showed that the coastline change in 2013 was 0.433 km2, in 2016 it was 0.521 km2, in 2019 it was 0.538 km2 and in 2023 it was 0.649 km2. DSAS analysis shows that almost every stretch of beach in Sungai Nibung has experienced abrasion. Abrasion in Sungai Nibung occurred because there were not many wave breakers and damage to mangrove land. The rate of abrasion in Sungai Nibung over 10 years reached -574.96 m. Abstrak Perubahan garis pantai menyebabkan proses terus menerus melalui berbagai proses baik abrasi maupun akresi pantai yang diakibatkan oleh pergerakan sedimen, arus susur pantai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan perubahan garis pantai di Desa Sungai Nibung menggunakan citra multi temporal tahun 2013-2023 dari Google Earth Engine (GEE). Manfaat penelitian ini untuk melihat perubahan pesisir pantai Desa Sungai Nibung  maka pengelolaan kawasan pesisir termasuk di dalamnya mitigasi bencana abrasi dapat dilakukan dengan tepat. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dari hasil olahan data NSM dan EPR dari DSAS dan hasil digitasi Citra Landsat dari GEE. Hasil fenomena abrasi paling luas terjadi di tahun 2023 yaitu 64,924 m2 dan akresi sebesar 120,886 m2. Perubahan pesisir yang digitasi menggunakan ArcGIS diperoleh perubahan garis pantai tahun 2013 sebesar 0,433 km2 , tahun 2016 sebesar 0,521 km2 , tahun 2019 sebesar 0,538 km2 dan tahun 2023 sebesar 0,649 km2. Analisis DSAS hampir di setiap ruas pantai di Desa Sungai Nibung mengalami abrasi. Abrasi di Desa Sungai Nibung terjadi akibat belum banyak pemecah ombak dan rusaknya lahan mangrove.     Quality of Demersal Fish sold at Tobelo Traditional Market, North Halmahera based on pH and Organoleptic Values

    Demersal fish resources are a type of fish whose life cycle is mostly at the bottom or around the bottom of the waters. Fishery products are food commodities that quickly spoil (deteriorate in quality) because they are influenced by the high water and nutrient content. Fish bodies are a good medium for the growth of putrefactive bacteria. Factors that influence the speed of reduction in fish freshness level are storage temperature. The application of cold chains is one way of handling that is easy to apply. This study aims to analyze the quality of demersal fish sold in one of the traditional markets in the city of Tobelo based on organoleptic and pH. The results of the analysis show that the organoleptic tests of gills, eyes, flesh, smell, and texture of fish meet the requirements of the Indonesian National Standard. The pH value of fish ranges from 6.00 - 6.65 which means fish are still in very good condition. Hasil perikanan adalah komoditas pangan yang cepat mengalami pembusukan (kemunduran mutu) karena dipengaruhi oleh tingginya kandungan air dan nutrisi. Tubuh ikan merupakan media yang baik untuk pertumbuhan bakteri pembusuk. Faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap kecepatan penurunan tingkat kesegaran ikan adalah suhu penyimpanan. Penerapan rantai dingin merupakan salah satu cara penanganan yang mudah diterapkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas ikan demersal yang dijual di salah satu pasar tradisional di Kota Tobelo berdasarkan organoleptic dan pH. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Uji organoleptic insang, mata, daging, bau dan tekstur ikan memenuhi persyaratan Standar Nasional Indonesia.     Mangrove Community Structure On The Coast Of Tanjung Kelapa, Tombariri Districts, Bunaken National Park

    Mangrove ecosystems are wetland resources in coastal areas, life support systems and natural wealth of very high value. The lack of information about the status of mangrove species at the study site as well as the alleged presence of various types of mangrove loss in each region have been identified as important mangrove knowledge information gaps. This can improve various conservation and management strategies, especially in maintaining the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems. This activity lasted 6 (six) months including data collection using the line transect method, the results showed that there were 5 types of mangroves at three stations including Soneratia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, Avicennia marina and ceriops tagal. High diversity (H') is found at Station 2 and Station 3 with a Dominance value (D) categorized as moderate at Station 1 while Stations 2 and 3 are categorized as medium, Uniformity (e) at all stations is high, absolute density is highest at station 1 and station 2, and at station 3 the absolute density is lowest, the similarity of community (IS) mangrove types in all three locations is the same because it still includes the same location in the intertaidal area. Kurangnya informasi tentang status spesies mangrove di lokasi penelitian serta dugaan adanya berbagai jenis kehilangan mangrove di setiap wilayah telah diidentifikasi sebagai kesenjangan informasi pengetahuan tentang mangrove yang penting. Hal ini dapat meningkatkan berbagai strategi konservasi dan pengelolaan, terutama dalam menjaga keberlangsungan ekosistem mangrove. Kegiatan ini berlangsung 6 (enam) bulan termasuk dengan pengambilan data mengunakan metode transek garis, Hasil penelitian menunjukan Terdapat 5 jenis mangrove pada ketiga stasiun diantaranya Soneratia alba, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, Avicennia marina  dan ceriops tagal. Keanekaragaman tinggi (H’) terdapat pada Stasiun 2 dan Stasiun 3 dengan nilai Dominansi (D) dikategorikan sedang pada Stasiun 1 sedangkan Stasiun 2 dan 3 dikategorikan sedang, Keseragaman (e) pada semua stasiun tinggi, kepadatan mutlak tertinggi pada stasiun 1 dan stasiun 2, dan pada stasiun 3 kepadatan mutlak terendah, kesamaan komunitas (IS) jenis mangrove pada ketiga lokasi sama karena masih mencakup satu lokasi yang sama didaerah intertaidal.     Sediment Transport and Economic Social Effect of Bowone People Mining Sangihe Islands Regency

    This study aims to determine the magnitude of the sedimentation rate and the prediction of sediment transport in Binebas Bay as the scope of the Bowone people's mine run-off disposal area, as well as the socio-economic impacts on the community and especially for fishermen. Sediment diameter measurements were carried out by taking sediment samples at each station using a sediment trap. Sediment traps made of pipes will be installed at each station and the height of the sediment will be measured using a ruler every 2 weeks for 3 months. The research data were analyzed using the comparative method, namely the results of measuring the sediment rate in the field compared to the calculation results according to Engelund. The sediment rate in the waters of Binebas Bay which is close to the people's mining in Bowone Village is 0,058943 m3/year. Sediment transport in the waters of Binebas Bay is  m3/m*s. Sedimentation is still relatively low (small) in the waters of Binebas Bay. Socially, people's mining activities in Kampung Bowone have a positive impact where there is the availability of employment opportunities for the community. Economically, people's mining activities increase people's income. However, the negative impact is environmental damage. Keywords: sediment transport; socio-economic impact; people's mine; Bowone village; Sangihe Islands Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya laju sedimentasi dan prediksi transport sedimen di Teluk Binebas sebagai lingkup wilayah buangan run-off tambang rakyat Bowone, serta dampak sosial ekonomi bagi masyarakat dan khususnya bagi nelayan. Diameter sedimen diukur dengan mengambil sampel di tiap Stasiun. Perangkap sedimen dibuat dari pipa dan diukur tinggi sedimennya tiap 2 minggu  selama 3 bulan. Data penelitian dianalisis kemudian dilakukan komparasi antara hasil pengukuran laju sedimentasi di lapangan dengan hasil perhitungan transportasi sedimen menurut Metode Engelund. Laju sedimen di perairan Teluk Binebas yang dekat dengan pertambangan rakyat Kampung Bowone yaitu sebesar 0,058943 m3/ tahun. Transpor sedimen di perairan Teluk Binebas yaitu  m3/m*s. Sedimentasi masih tergolong rendah (kecil) di perairan Teluk Binebas. Secara sosial, kegiatan pertambangan rakyat di Kampung Bowone memberikan dampak yang positif dimana terdapat ketersediaan lapangan kerja bagi masyarakat. Secara ekonomi, kegiatan pertambangan rakyat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat. Namun, dampak negatifnya adalah kerusakan lingkungan.     Relationship between Phytoplankton and Chlorophyll-a Abundance in the Outer Bay of Bangka Island

    Kelabat Luar Bay is located in the north of Bangka Island, which juts out into the open sea, making this bay have a number of fisheries activities, and mining activities, especially floating unconventional mines (TI) managed by the local community. The research aims to identify phytoplankton species and analyze ecological indices as well as the relationship of physical and chemical factors to phytoplankton and chlorophyll concentration in the waters of Kelabat Luar Bay. Determination of the location of this study using a purposive sampling method. Sampling was conducted perpendicular to the sea (horizontal) by setting three sampling points (replicates) at each station with a distance of 0, 1, and 2 km. Based on the results of the study, the most common phytoplankton species found were Bacillariophyceae class of 11 species with a total of 278 individuals, Cyanophyceae 1 species with a total of 2 individuals, Chrysophyceae class of 1 species with a total of 11 individuals and Dinophyceae class of 2 species with a total of 16 individuals. The type of phytoplankton that has the highest number of individuals is Rhizosolenia robusta which totals 38 individuals. Chlorophyll-a concentration ranges between 0.0634 - 0.3014 mg/L. The phytoplankton diversity index in the waters of Kelabat Luar Bay is in the medium category (1.881-2.204), the uniformity index is high (0.880-0.957) and the dominance index is low (0.116-0.172). Physical parameters of water chemistry that affect the relationship of phytoplankton and chlorophyll include temperature, pH, brightness, and salinity. Abstrak Teluk Kelabat Luar terletak disebelah utara Pulau Bangka yang menjorok ke laut lepas menjadikan teluk ini memiliki sejumlah aktivitas perikanan, aktivitas penambangan tepatnya Tambang Inkonvensional (TI) apung yang dikelola oleh masyarakat setempat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis fitoplankton dan menganalisis indeks ekologi serta hubungan faktor fisika kimia perairan terhadap fitoplankton dan konsentrasi klorofil a di perairan Teluk Kelabat Luar. Penentuan lokasi penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara tegak lurus kearah laut (horizontal) dengan menetapkan tiga titik sampling (ulangan) pada tiap stasiun dengan jarak 0, 1 dan 2 km. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian jenis fitoplankton yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah kelas Bacillariophyceae sebanyak 11 spesies dengan total 278 individu, Cyanophyceae 1 spesies dengan total 2 individu, kelas Chrysophyceae sebanyak 1 spesies dengan total 11 individu dan kelas Dinophyceae sebanyak 2 spesies dengan total 16 individu. Jenis fitoplankton yang memiliki jumlah individu terbanyak adalah Rhizosolenia robusta yang berjumlah 38 individu. Konsentrasi klorofil-a kisaran antara 0,0634 – 0,3014 mg/L. Indeks keanekaragaman fitoplankton di perairan Teluk Kelabat Luar termasuk dalam kategori sedang (1,881-2,204), indeks keseragaman tergolong tinggi (0,880-0,957) dan indeks dominansi tergolong rendah (0,116-0,172).     A Preliminary Studies of Fish Richness in the Tondano River Estuary Manado Bay

    The purpose of this study was to analyze the richness of fish species in the Tondano River estuary. Sampling was done for two months, in July and August 2022, new moon phase, during the low tide at 13.00-16.00 pm.  Sampling used a 20-m beach seine with a cod-end part of 0.2-cm mesh and wings of 2-m height and 1.5-cm mesh.  The beach seine was operated 10 times starting from the lowest tide at 13.00 pm to the tide condition at 16.00 pm. As a whole, 736  individuals were caught, consisting of 24 species and 17 families, 14 migrant species, and 10 resident species   The number of fish varied from 1 to 445 individuals,  in which Terapon jarbua (445 ind) was the most abundant, followed by Neovespicula depressifrons (70 ind). The dominant index  (C) was 0.38 and the diversity index (H) was 1.65.  The resident species were 120 individuals varying from 2 to 70 ind., and the most abundant was   Neovespicula depressifrons (70 ind.).     Physicochemical Characteristics And Essential Minerals Of Zink (Zn) Trash Fish Nugget Products

    Fish nuggets are processed frozen foods, both made from seawater fish and freshwater fish, contain high nutritional value, and are favored by children and adolescents as snacks and as side dishes. This study aimed to determine the physicochemical characteristics of trash fish nuggets added with Eucheuma cottonii seaweed. The physicochemical characteristics include pH, proximate levels such as protein, fat, and carbohydrates, water content and ash content, and the essential mineral content of zinc (Zn). Trash fish nuggets with the addition of wheat flour alone have characteristics, including pH of 6.8-7.1, water content of 40.5%, ash content of 1.04%, protein content of 40.3%, fat content of 7 0.07% and carbohydrate content of 10.12%, zinc content of 2.55 g/g nugget weight, while trash fish nuggets with the addition of a mixture of wheat flour and E. cottonii had a pH of 6.8-7.1, water content of 42.5%, ash content of 1.22%, protein content of 42.9%, fat content of 5.97% and carbohydrate content of 4.11% and zinc content of 4.56 g/g nugget weight. Based on the organoleptic examination, trash fish and E. cottonii nuggets were chewy with a delicious and savory taste. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan karakteristik fisikokimia dari nugget ikan rucah yang ditambahkan dengan rumput laut Eucheuma cottonii. Karakteristik fisikakimia meliputi pH, kadar proksimat seperti protein, lemak dan karbohidrat, kadar air dan kadar abu serta kandungan mineral essensial seng (Zn). Nugget ikan rucah dengan penambahan tepung gandum saja memiliki karakteristik antara lain pH sebesar 6,8-7,1, kandungan air sebesar 40,5 %, kadar abu sebesar 1,04 %,  kadar protein sebesar 40,3 %, kadar lemak sebesar 7,07 % dan kadar karbohidrat sebesar 10,12 %, kandungan seng  sebesar 2,55 μg/g bobot nugget, sedangkan nugget ikan rucah dengan penambahan campuran tepung gandum dan E. cottonii memiliki  pH sebesar 6,8-7,1, kandungan air sebesar 42,5 %, kadar abu sebesar 1,22 %,  kadar protein sebesar 42,9 %, kadar lemak sebesar 5,97 % dan kadar karbohidrat sebesar 4,11 % serta kandungan seng sebesar 4,56 μg/g bobot nugget. Berdasarkan pemeriksaan organoleptis menunjukkan produk nugget ikan rucah dan E. cottoni lebih kenyal dengan rasa yang lezat dan gurih.     Zoochemical Analysis and Antibacterial Potential of Starfish, Linckia laevigata Extract

    Starfish is one of the marine biota that produces bioactive compounds and has biological activity. The aims of this study were to determine the content of bioactive compounds and to test the antibacterial activity of the extract of the starfish Linckia laevigata against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. Determination of the content of bioactive compounds was carried out by qualitative zoochemical analysis while the antibacterial test used the disc diffusion method. The results showed that the extract of the starfish L. laevigata has bioactive compounds from the alkaloid, triterpenoid, tannin, flavonoid, phenolic, and saponin groups. Inhibitory activity against S. aureus and E.coli based on the inhibition zone formed showed that L. laevigata starfish extract produced low antibacterial activity Keywords : Starfish (Linckia laevigata), Zoochemistry, Antibacterial, Disc diffusion Abstrak Bintang laut merupakan salah satu biota laut yang memproduksi senyawa bioaktif dan memiliki aktivitas biologis.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kandungan senyawa bioaktif dan melakukan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak bintang laut Linckia laevigata terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Penentuan kandungan senyawa bioaktif dilakukan dengan analisis zookimia kualitatif sedangkan pengujian antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi cakram. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa ekstrak bintang laut L. laevigata memiliki senyawa bioaktif dari golongan alkaloid, triterpenoid, tanin, flavonoid, fenolik, dan saponin.     Zooplankton in the Seagrass Beds of Nain Island

    This research was conducted in July 2022, the determination of sampling locations was carried out by purposive sampling, namely data collection with certain considerations to obtain samples that represent the research location area. Seawater samples were taken using a plankton net which was then used for the zooplankton identification process carried out in the Marine Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. Measurement of physical parameters of water chemistry consisting of temperature, salinity, and pH, was carried out in situ. The content of nitrate and phosphate was conducted at the WLN laboratory (Water Laboratory Nusantara-WLN). Zooplankton counts were expressed in ind/l. Qualitative determination of plankton was made up to the genus level. The results of zooplankton identification consisted of 5 genera namely Acartia, Cyclops, Euterpina, Nauplius, and Oithona. The calculation of zooplankton abundance is in the range of 3-5 ind/l. The highest abundance was found at station one which was 5 ind/l followed by station three which was 4 ind/l and then station two as much as 3 ind/l. The diversity index is in the range of 0.4740-0.7786, the uniformity index is in the range of 0.2945-0.7087, and the dominance index ranges from 0.5971-0.7744. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2022, penentuan lokasi pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling yaitu pengumpulan data dengan pertimbangan tertentu untuk memperoleh sampel yang mewakili wilayah lokasi penelitian. Sampel air laut diambil dengan menggunakan plankton net yang selanjutnya digunakan untuk proses identifikasi zooplankton yang dilakukan di Laboratorium Biologi Kelautan Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan. Pengukuran parameter fisik kimia air yang terdiri dari suhu, salinitas, pH, dilakukan secara in situ. Kadar nitrat dan fosfat dilakukan di laboratorium WLN (Laboratorium Air Nusantara-WLN). Jumlah Zooplankton dinyatakan dalam ind/l. Penentuan plankton secara kualitatif dilakukan sampai tingkat genus. Hasil identifikasi zooplankton terdiri dari 5 genus yaitu Acartia, Cyclops, Euterpina, Nauplius, dan Oithona. Perhitungan kelimpahan zooplankton berada pada kisaran 3-5 ind/l. Kelimpahan tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun satu sebesar 5 ind/l, disusul stasiun tiga sebesar 4 ind/l dan kemudian stasiun dua sebanyak 3 ind/l. Indeks keanekaragaman berada pada rentang 0,4740-0,7786, indeks keseragaman berada pada rentang 0,2945-0,7087, sedangkan indeks dominasi berkisar antara 0,5971-0,7744.
