    VI i/kao rasna politička teologija

    No full text
Building on earlier work engaging with the entanglement of artificial intelligence (AI) and apocalypticism and both with whiteness (Ali 2019), in the present essay I explore AI through the lens of a political theology informed by critical race theory and decolonial thought. The essay begins by setting out the meaning of a few key concepts, viz. AI, political theology, ‘The World’, and the apocalyptic, before going on to consider their relationship, and concludes by briefly sketching an oppositional stance that I suggest is appropriate to adopt in relation to AI where the latter is understood as a manifestation of racialised political theology.

A novel model for diversifying ai based recommender systems for societal well-being

    No full text
In this study, we explore the potential societal impact of recommender systems, focusing on their capability to shape user experiences and provide personalized content recommendations. Despite their promising advantages, one cannot overlook the considerable risks recommendation algorithms introduce. These risks encompass the reinforcement of echo chambers, the enlargement of extreme viewpoints and discrimination, and the invitation of addictive behaviors. These problematic aspects have cumulatively sparked public alarm about polarization, addiction, and reduced creativity due to algorithmic biases, significantly influencing our daily digital channel recommendations. In order to anchor our proposal within the existing landscape of recommendation system research, we analyze seminal works of literature, emphasizing the steps taken by previous studies as well as the gaps that persist in existing models. We elaborate on how our model distinguishes itself from extant literature, by integrating aspects of artificial intelligence (AI) into its methodology, instead of merely discussing AI on a rudimentary level. Aiming to confront these emerging challenges, we have formulated a novel model that promotes recommendation diversity across various dimensions. This includes different emotional tones, content categories, and political attitudes. We have maintained an explicit focus on algorithmic processes and parameters, ensuring that our methodology is robust, innovative, and replicable. We shall use a similarity score model that incorporates diverse factors. The model could be represented as: S(u, c) = w1*E(u, c) + w2*C(u, c) + w3*P(u, c) Where: - S(u,c) is the recommendation score for user u and content item c - E(u, c), C(u, c), and P(u, c) are the emotional, content, and political similarity scores between user u and content item c, respectively - w1, w2, and w3 are weights for each dimension that sum to 1. These weights can be adjusted to emphasize or de-emphasize certain dimensions, depending on the goal of the recommendation. To build out this model and determine optimal weights, we could apply machine learning techniques or conduct experimental studies. While w1*E(u, c) focuses on matching the emotional tone of user u and content c, w2*C(u, c) ensures that the recommended content falls under a category that user u is interested in. On the other hand, w3*P(u, c) ensures a range of political attitudes are represented in the recommendations. This formula encapsulates our approach to creating a diverse, balanced, and personalized set of recommendations while minimizing the risk of fostering echo chambers or promoting extreme viewpoints. This model serves as a computer science remedy designed to cultivate ethical and responsible deployment of recommendation algorithms, thereby fostering a more inclusive and balanced digital environment. Besides expanding content diversity, our approach also aspires to enhance user engagement, spur critical thinking, and fortify societal cohesion. The model represents a computer science solution to enhance the ethical and responsible deployment of recommendation algorithms, fostering a more inclusive and balanced online environment. Our model offers a comprehensive and technically feasible solution for fostering a more inclusive and balanced online environment, promoting user engagement, critical thinking, and societal cohesion through diverse content recommendations. Further research and testing are essential to validate the effectiveness and scalability of our proposed model in real-world settings. We acknowledge the importance of further research and real-world testing as vital next steps to verify the effectiveness and scalability of our proposed solution

    O ekonomskoj politici izuma

This article tackles the question of invention in Jacques Derrida’s thought of deconstruction according to two perspectives. In the first part, drawing on “Psyché: Invention of the Other”, it examines its economic implications; in the second part, drawing on “A World of Welcome” and on the confrontation with Emmanuel Levinas, it examines its political im- plications. The problem at stake in both perspectives is the role of an idiomatic schematics (a sophistication of Kantianism, as Derida puts it) in fostering the potential invention of a counterinstitution. In the second part, while interrogating Derrida’s views on the possibility and means to deduce a politics from an ethics, we will encounter the current geopo- litical scenario, and notably the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Medieval Slavonic Reception of Maximus the Confessor’s Circle – Center – Radii Analogy

    No full text
The paper contends that certain circle diagrams discovered in 14th-century Slavonic medieval manuscripts of Dorotheus of Gaza’s Instructions, crafted during the Palamite controversy, are influenced by the concepts of Maximus the Confessor. The paper offers an in-depth analysis of select Slavonic diagrams originating from Serbian monasteries in the final decades of the 14th century. It begins by examining simple diagrams wherein the circle’s center represents God, and the radii represent created beings moving towards God, then progresses to investigate more intricate diagrams. These complex diagrams include circle or square shaped center, outer circumference, concentric rings, multicolored radii and twisted cruciform bands. It is further argued that these new diagramatic elements are employed to visualize complex ideas such as the Holy Trinity as differentiations in unity, the ontological limit of creation set by divine providence, the triadic structure of logoi of beings and the double movement of procession and reversion
