    Effect of Motivation on Government Agencies Performance in Tanzania: A Case of Rural and Urban Roads Agency Simiyu Region.

    This study examined the effect of extrinsic motivation on government agencies performance; a case of Tanzania rural and urban roads agency Simiyu Region. The was guided three specific objectives; to determine the effect of financial incentives, employee’s promotion and the employees job security on government agencies performance. Positivist philosophy was employed in this study while quantitative research approach was used. Explanatory design was adopted while stratified random sampling was employed as sampling technique. A sample size of 103 was sampled from a population of 160 TARURA employees. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data. Descriptive Statistics and multiple regression analysis were used as data analysis tools. Based on the findings the study recommends that Agencies should design incentive programs that align with performance goals while also fostering job satisfaction through recognition, professional development, and opportunities for career growth. Also, it is recommended to ensure that promotions are based on merit and align with employees' skills and career goals. Lastly, it is recommended to balance job security with performance management practices that maintain accountability and drive continuous improvement.     Competence of Heads of School in Resolving Educational Conflicts in Public Secondary Schools: A Case Of Nsimbo District Council.

    This study examined the competence of heads of school in resolving educational conflicts in public secondary schools within Nsimbo District Council. It specifically focused on three objectives: First was to examine head of school knowledge and skills in resolving educational conflicts in public secondary schools, secondly, assess strategies used by heads of school in resolving educational conflicts in public secondary. Third, was to examine challenges encountered by heads of school in resolving educational conflicts in public secondary schools. The study was guided by Conflict Resolution Theory. This study employed mixed research approach both qualitative and quantitative research approach was employed using convergent design. The study was conducted at Nsimbo district council. The study sample comprised a samples size of 130 respondents including 16 heads of schools, 68 teachers, 34 students, 11 ward education officers and 1 education officer selected through purposive technique and simple random technique Data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, and document reviews. Collected data were analysed using descriptive and thematic analysis. The findings revealed that while a significant number of heads of school possessed basic knowledge and skills in conflict resolution, many lacked advanced skills such as mediation and understanding legal frameworks. The majority of school heads relied on staff meetings and participatory decision-making as their primary strategies for resolving conflicts, while only a small proportion used more structured approaches like mediation. Several challenges were reported by respondents, including insufficient resources, lack of parental involvement, and external pressures such as political interference. Additionally, a significant number of school heads expressed the need for ongoing professional development to enhance their conflict resolution capabilities. The study concluded that continuous training is crucial for equipping school heads with the necessary skills to manage conflicts more effectively, particularly in legal and advanced mediation techniques. It also highlighted the need for stronger parental and community engagement, as well as better resource allocation to support schools in addressing conflicts. It is recommended from the study that providing ongoing training for heads of school to improve their conflict resolution skills, with a focus on advanced techniques and legal frameworks. Strengthening parental and community involvement through regular engagement activities is also essential. Additionally, improved resource allocation to support schools in managing conflicts effectively

    Assessment of Ngo’s Performance in Reducing Household Poverty.

    Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) play a pivotal role in poverty reduction through their grassroots development initiatives. This study assesses the performance of two NGOs, PARA LIGO and Mtule Development Organization, in reducing household poverty in South Unguja, Zanzibar. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of their strategies, the extent of their impact on households, and the challenges they face in implementing poverty alleviation programs. A mixedmethods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with beneficiaries, NGO staff, and local government representatives. Key indicators examined include income generation, access to basic services, community empowerment, and sustainability of interventions. The findings reveal that both NGOs have significantly contributed to improving household incomes and access to education and healthcare services. However, challenges such as limited funding, bureaucratic hurdles, and community resistance were identified as barriers to achieving broader impacts. This study underscores the importance of strategic planning, collaboration with stakeholders, and capacity building to enhance NGO performance in poverty reduction. Recommendations include increased donor support, policy alignment with local government strategies, and continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure long-term sustainability of the initiatives. This research contributes to understanding the role of NGOs in poverty alleviation and provides actionable insights for improving their impact in Zanzibar and similar circumstances.     Impact of Monitoring and Evaluation System on Sustainability of Water and Sanitation Projects in Tanzania.

    The study assesses the impact of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems on the sustainability of water and sanitation projects, with a specific focus on the Mbeya Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (Mbeya WSSA) in Tanzania. The key objectives were; To evaluate the role of key M&E components in promoting the sustainability of water and sanitation projects in Mbeya., investigate the influence of regular M&E cycles on operational functionality and maintenance, and identify the economic, health, environmental, and social benefits derived from sustainable water and sanitation projects. The study employed a case study design, targeting 105 operational staff involved in M&E activities at Mbeya WSSA. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including Pearson correlation analysis. The findings reveal that effective M&E practices, particularly those emphasizing stakeholder engagement, capacity building and performance monitoring, significantly enhance the sustainability of water and sanitation projects. The adoption of a result-oriented approach was also shown to positively impact project outcomes, although challenges such as budget overruns and delays were identified. The study highlighted the extensive socio-economic and health benefits of sustainable water projects, including improved health outcomes, economic growth, and social equity. The study concludes that robust M&E systems are vital for the sustainability of water and sanitation projects in Mbeya. It recommends strengthening M&E frameworks, adopting a result-oriented approach, ensuring continuous M&E activities, and enhancing stakeholder engagement.     Examining the Determinants of Corporate Social Responsibility Implementation in Non Governmental Organizations for Societal Well-Being: A Case of Kigoma, Tanzania.

    The study investigated the factors that influence the implementation of corporate social responsibility in Non-Government Organizations in Kigoma, Tanzania. Specifically, the study aimed to examine external factors and internal factors and how they shape the implementation of CSR in NGOs. Also, to examine the challenges that hinders the implementing CSR in the nonprofit sector in Kigoma. The study was guided by Stakeholder and resource dependence theories. The research used positivism and interpretivism research paradigms. It used mixed research approaches involving qualitative and quantitative methods. The study employed descriptive and inferential research design. The sample size of 384 respondents was through random and 20 weee selected through purposive sampling process and stratified sampling technique, the data were collected using survey questionnaires and interview guide. Quantitative data was analyzed through Multiple Linear Regression and Chi-Square. Qualitative data were analyses using content analysis. Findings showed that organizational culture, resource availability, and institutional pressures play significant roles in shaping CSR practices. Negative community perception, financial sustainability, and staff turnover were obstacles to CSR implementation. It was concluded that strengthening organizational culture, enhancing resource availability and promoting collaborative initiatives.     Role of Project Management Strategies in Church Funded Project Performance: A Case of Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital.

    The study is about the Role of project management strategies in church funded project performance: a case of Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected using questionnaires distributed to a sample of 270 participants, Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to assess the relationships between study variables. The findings reveal that community engagement plays a crucial role in enhancing project outcomes, particularly through decision-making and participation in project activities. A reliable source of funding, Institutional capacity, encompassing the skills and resources required for project management, significantly impacts efficiency and effectiveness in project implementation. Furthermore, effective project planning, characterized by detailed objectives, timelines, and contingency measures, was found to be vital for achieving project performance goal. The regression model showed that all the four management strategies ie project planning, community engagement, institutional capacity and reliable source of funding significantly contribute to project performance. Based on the findings, the study recommends fostering stronger community participation, ensuring consistent funding mechanisms, investing in capacity building for institutional staff, and adopting comprehensive project planning frameworks. The study also identifies four areas for further research: the role of technological integration in church-funded projects, comparative analyses of funding mechanisms across regions, longitudinal studies on project sustainability, and the impact of cultural factors on project performance.     Psychosocial Support for Families Caring for Children with Disabilities in Tanzania. A Case of Uhuru Mchanganyiko Primary School.

    This study aimed to explore psychosocial support for families caring for children with disabilities in Tanzania: a case of Uhuru Mchanganyiko primary school. The study specifically addressed three objectives: to identify the psychosocial support challenges experienced by families, to examine the accessibility of psychosocial support services available to these families, and to investigate evidence-based interventions designed to support them. A qualitative approach, underpinned by an interpretivist research philosophy, was used. The research design followed a case study approach. Data were collected from 36 participants of 12 families using purposive sampling, and a combination of interviews and non-participatory observation was employed. The research findings revealed significant psychosocial challenges faced by these families, including social stigma, emotional distress, strained family relationships, role strain, and a lack of access to specialized services. Furthermore, these families faced considerable barriers to accessing formal psychosocial support, including limited awareness, affordability, and cultural stigma surrounding disability. The study also identified several psychosocial support interventions, including psychological counseling, peer support groups, community awareness programs, parental training, and access to inclusive education. The study recommends that the government prioritize the development of policies and programs that enhance the availability and accessibility of support services for families of children with disabilities

    The Influence of Films in Promoting Tourism in Tanzania: A Case of Dar es Salaam.

    This study is driven by a sole purpose of investigating the influence of films in promoting tourism in Tanzania. Specifically, the study is driven by the objectives of identifying and profiling films that promote tourism in Tanzania, assessing the influence of films on tourism promotion in Tanzania and analysing the challenges hindering films in promoting tourism in Tanzania, respectively. Through a mixed methods approach, the data were collected from 113 informants. The informants were purposively and later on randomly selected. Data were collected using key informant interviews, questionnaires, and direct observation. Quantitative data were analysed using SPSS, while qualitative insights were subjected to thematic content analysis. Results revealed that films hold considerable potential in raising awareness, shaping perceptions, and influencing travel decisions, with notable examples like African Safari 4K and Tanzania: the Royal Tour successfully spotlighting Tanzania‟s cultural and natural wealth. The findings also identified critical challenges, including limited funding, a lack of collaboration between the film and tourism sectors, insufficient filmmaking expertise, and restrictive policies, which undermine the global impact of Tanzanian films. The study concludes that while films significantly contribute to tourism promotion, substantial gaps in production quality, strategic marketing, and distribution need to be addressed. Recommendations include increasing funding, fostering collaboration between the film and tourism industries, capacity building for local filmmakers, adopting advanced technology, streamlining regulatory procedures, and expanding distribution channels.     This study assessed the village executive officer‘s commitment to Tanzania social action fund project performance: a case of Siha district council. The study was guided by three specific objectives; to determine the effect of affective, continuous and normative commitment on Village executive officers to Tanzania social action fund project performance. The organizational commitment theory guided this study. The study employed positivist research philosophy and quantitative approach. explanatory research design was used. a sample size of 58 was randomly sampled from a population of 68 village executive officers from Siha District Council. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data while descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used as data analysis instruments. It was revealed that all independent variables namely affective, continuous and normative commitment were found to be positive and significantly related to village executive officers to Tanzania social action fund project performance. Based on these findings this study recommends that there should be Development of initiatives that foster a stronger emotional connection between VEOs and their roles. Secondly, develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the continuous commitment of VEOs to their roles. Lastly, reinforce the values and norms that underpin normative commitment within the organization. Ensure that VEOs understand and align with the core values of TASAF projects, which can strengthen their sense of obligation and commitment.     The Contribution of Community Radio to Rural Development: The Case Study of Sengerema FM, Mwanza, Tanzania.

    This study investigated the contribution of Community Radio, Sengerema FM specifically in Tanzania to rural development. It was guided by the following objectives namely to; examine the role of community radio for enhancing participatory development in Mwanza Region; ascertain whether Community radio involved in rural development and what its broadcast community in programs making, determine the extent to which community radio facilitated the process of mutual sharing of development information among community members, and establish how Community radio could be more involved to boost the capacity of communities in order to bring about rural development. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combined surveys of listeners and in depth interviews with key stakeholders, including community leaders, radio staff, and development practitioners. Findings revealed that community radio significantly contributed to rural development by raising awareness of issues, facilitating community participation, and providing educational content. However, challenges such as limited funding, lack of training for radio personnel, and political interference hindered its potential. The study concludes that sustainable funding models, capacity-building programs, and policies protecting editorial independence are essential. Recommendations include fostering partnerships, enhancing community involvement, and leveraging new technologies to expand reach .
