Pengembangan Modul Matematika Diskrit Berbantuan Software wxMaxima
The study was motivated by the problems faced by students of Mathematics Education of Aceh Muhammadiyah University. Students had difficulty studying discrete mathematics course. Based on preliminary observations, the problem that often arised was when graphing, especially for more complex issues that require longer time for manually drawing. Besides, the availability of discrete mathematics module is limited, especially the one using software maxima for solving problems. Therefore, it is necessary to develop discrete module mathematics assisted by wxMaxima software. Discrete Mathematics Module Development Research wxMaxima assisted by software aims to produce the ICT-based discrete mathematics modules that are valid and practical. The method used was research development. The model used was the Plomp model development, involving (1) the initial investigation phase, (2) the design phase, (3) the realization phase/construction, and (4) the phase of the test, evaluation and revision. The results showed that the development of discrete mathematics module assisted with wxmaxima software was valid, as indicated by the validation results that showed a valid criterion. Discrete mathematics modules developed was practical, as seen from the results of the field trials in the Department of Mathematics, University of Muhammadiyah Tarbiyah Aceh, where the average student activities showed good criterion
KINERJA DAN DISPOSISI MATEMATIS SISWA MELALUI PENERAPAN MODEL PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
Performance requires students to be active in working on assignments, as the evaluation is not only on the products but the skills they have. Mathematical disposition of students is vital to consider. Lack of students participation in the learning process can lead to low students performance and mathematical dispositions. The Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model encourages students productive. They will work on a project whose learning activities are more interesting and tangible so that students can develop their mathematical performance and disposition. This study aimed to analyze the development of student performance in completing group and individual assignments and their mathematical disposition through the application of the PjBL model. This research applied a qualitative study describing the development of student performance and mathematical disposition. The research subjects were 30 Year 7 students from one class of SMP Negeri 3 Unggul Ingin Jaya Aceh Besar. Data collection techniques involved observation, interview and questionnaire. The research results showed that 1) students developed their performance in completing group assignments by conducting all stages of task completion; 2) students developed their performance in completing individual tasks by performing all stages of task completion; 3) the mathematical disposition of students after the learning with the PjBL model had improved, especially on indicators of interest and curiosity
Analisis Kesalahan Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Sistem Persamaan Linier Dua Variabel di Kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Seulawah
Mathematics is a branch of science that has a vital role in the development of science and technology. Mathematical literacy is a non-negotiable ability needed today. However, mathematics remains complicated for students to understand; many students make mistakes in solving math problems, including the SLETV material. A student should follow Polya's steps (understanding the problem, planning a solution, implementing a predetermined plan, and reviewing the results that have been obtained). This study aimed to determine the mistakes made by students and the factors causing Grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Seulawah to make mistakes in solving SLETV problems. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 6 Grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Seulawah, Aceh Indonesia. Data collection was conducted in paper-based tests and interviews. The instruments were paper-based tests and interviews. The data were analyzed using the procedures proposed by Miles and Huberman: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This study indicates that Grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Seulawah generally have not been able to understand and plan the solution of the problems given correctly in solving SLETV problems. The cause of errors is that students are not used to systematically working on mathematical problems, and some students misunderstand the concepts of elimination and substitution
PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS DAN LOGIS MATEMATIK SISWA SMK MELALUI MODEL KOOPERATIF TIPE STAD BERBANTUAN MAPLE
Critical and logical thinking is very important in the study of mathematics, as described in the 2013 curriculum that is currently implemented. However, this ability is often overlooked in the study of mathematics, which still adhered to the old paradigm that learning is less engaging students in active thinking. Thus, students are not used to empowering the cognitive function in thinking. This study aimed to determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills and logical-mathematical in learning mathematics through the cooperative model of Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) assisted Maple. This research used experimental method, with the control group pretest-posttest design. The population was all Year 10 classes in one of the vocational high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Two classes were taken as the sample (the experimental and control class) through a random sampling technique. Data collection was performed using the tests of critical thinking and logical-mathematical ability. T-test was conducted to see the difference in ability between groups of students learning with STAD and the conventional group, at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that: 1) Improvement of critical thinking skills of students who got the mathematical learning of mathematics through STAD cooperative model-assisted Maple was better than the students who received conventional learning. 2) Improvement of logical-mathematical thinking ability of students who receive mathematics learning through cooperative model STAD assisted Maple was better than the students experienced the conventional learning
Penggunaan Software Cabri 3D untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Spasial Siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama
Geometry is one of the materials that are considered important in mathematics with the aim that students gain confidence regarding math skills, be excellent problem solvers, and can communicate and reason mathematically. Geometry is a branch of mathematics closely related to spatial ability, the ability to visualize an image, recognize shapes and objects accurately, make changes to an object in his mind and recognize the difference, describes an object in mind and turn it into a tangible form, reveals the data in graphical form as well as sensitivity to relationships, color, line, shape, and space. This study focused on improving spatial skills based on research conducted by Olkun (2003), the ability to visualize the image, including the ability to mentally rotate and flip through 2D and 3D objects quickly and precisely. This research used a quasi-experimental design with pretest-postest group design. The instrument was used in the form of spatial ability tests. Population in this research was Year 8 students in one of the junior high school in Banda Aceh, and selected samples were the students from one of the classroom. The data analyzed in that the data pre-test and post-test spatial ability, using the t-test for data pairs. The result showed that the spatial ability of students after being given a lesson with the help of Cabri 3D software better than before given the spatial ability of students learning with the help of Cabri 3D software
Pemahaman Konsep Operasi Hitung Bilangan Bulat Peserta Didik SMP melalui Brain-Based Learning
Curriculum 2013 mandates that learners should be able to understand mathematical concepts well, making it easier for learners to solve the problems of mathematics. However, there are still many students who are not able to understand mathematical concepts well, including the concept of integer arithmetic operations. This is because students think math as a complicated subject, so make the most of students do not like math. Therefore, teachers should be able to create learning that presents a fun and challenging atmosphere that make learners more excited. This study aims to determine the understanding of the concept of integer arithmetic operations of learners after participating in Brain-Based Learning. This type of research is experimental research with quantitative and qualitative approaches. This research was conducted in one of the Year 7 classes in the SMPIT Al-Azhar Banda Aceh. The results showed that the understanding of the concept of learners after participating in Brain-Based Learning (BBL) categorized as good, as seen from the values obtained by the four students were selected as subjects in this study. Learners who initially operate regardless of the sign of the times and to come to understand that multiplication and division should be done first. Likewise, with learners who initially was mistaken in operating the positive and negative integers, once implemented, BBL has been able to do it right and achieve some indicators of understanding of the concept
