The Role of Human Capital on Enhancing Organizational Information Technology Capabilities: An Alternative Approach

In a constantly changing world, the organizational IT capabilities are progressively perceived as vital enablers of superior organizational productivity. Despite the often-accentuated importance of IT human assets, their exact role and connection with IT capabilities remain somewhat nebulous. Consequently, this research explores the specificities of IT human capital and its influence on IT capabilities, deriving insights from human capital literature and theories grounded in vision-oriented dynamic resources and capabilities. This investigation has considered responses from 246 Chief Information Officers employed in Brazilian public institutions and has utilized structural equation modelling (CB-SEM) for analysis. It has determined that IT human capital encompasses multidimensional attributes that include interpersonal competencies, technical expertise, and team members\u27 engagement with technology. Furthermore, IT human capital is portrayed as a precursor to IT capabilities, not an intrinsic element, as commonly proposed in the scholarly domain. The research proposes a pragmatic, empirically validated approach to gauge and evaluate the impact of IT human resources. It also advocates potential strategies for organizations to source and cultivate IT human capital ready to confront the perpetual dynamism of today\u27s environments

Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean from Advanced Human Capital: Contribution to the Development of Patents in Emerging Countries

This paper uses data collected from the Ibero-American and Inter-American Network of Science and Technology Indicators (RICYT) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and statistically processed using Spearman\u27s bivariate correlation procedure and multiple regression analysis to examine the contribution of a series of variables of the advanced human capital to the innovative performance measured by patenting in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) economies. These findings establish relationships between patents and R&D expenditure; personnel dedicated to R&D; the number of researchers; and the number of doctoral students, but not higher education expenditure. The combination of advanced human capital factors that optimize the generation of patents in LAC can be identified. Although patenting is an indicator of innovation that has been analyzed, further research supporting it in terms of human capital measured in Latin American and Caribbean countries is needed.

The study aims to analyze the effects of relational marketing and social networks on the satisfaction of university students. The research focuses on two academic activities: administrative procedures and academic communication. A theoretical model based on Relational Marketing was designed, and the Structural Equation Model (SEM) was applied to evaluate the reliability and validity of the constructs, as well as to test the relationships of the structural model. An exploratory factorial analysis was carried out using the PLS-SEM method, which measured the model\u27s capacity through the coefficient of determination R2, an appropriate approach for research in management sciences. The study was conducted with a sample of 708 students. The results allow for the acceptance of the proposed hypotheses, indicating that there is a positive relationship between the relationship attributes based on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube) and communication with students. It is accepted that the more relationship attributes universities use, the better the academic procedures will be on social networks, and finally, it is determined that there is greater satisfaction and student relationship when academic procedures are carried out through social networks

Big Bath Accounting in an Emerging Market: Evidence from Newly Appointed CEOs in Brazil

This study examines the prevalence of big bath accounting in an emerging market context, focusing on newly appointed CEOs of Brazilian firms. We find evidence of big bath accounting in Brazil and extends the big bath and CEO turnover literature by documenting a limit to downward earnings manipulation and by using Brazil as a source of study. Our results suggest that incumbent CEOs have incentives to manage profits downward only when the company was previously profitable, rather than risking worsening an already bad situation, in the case of unprofitable firms. We also find that they are more likely to use accrual earnings management, rather than reducing production or increasing discretionary expenditures, as tool to decrease earnings level. Overall, our study fills a gap in the literature and supports future research in understanding the big bath CEO turnover scenario in Brazilian firms. &nbsp

This study explores a more pragmatic innovation management system (IMS), based on the Stage Gates Model developed by Cooper and the philosophy of the five Fs. It required extensive bibliographic research, which was carried out in the scientific bases of Web of Science, Scopus, EBSCO and google scholar, and also used the snowball technique. The System is a wide platform, subdivided in four processes: opportunity identification; opportunity selection and prioritization stage; implementation and protection of opportunities; and process and metrics evaluation. Contributions from other authors and more knowledge from management were also included, to strengthen innovation management capacities. The proposed model reflects the current generation of innovation research, based on the theory of ecosystems and the Total Innovation Management (TIM) perspective, and the most recent research on innovation management systems, which are dedicated to integrated models, networking, more regularity in projects evaluation, and parallelism and high functional integration.Este estudio explora un sistema de gestión de la innovación (IMS) más pragmático, basado en el modelo Stage Gates desarrollado por Cooper y la filosofía de las cinco F. Identification of Facing Satisfaction Issues While Shopping Through Electronic Platforms in Gen-X and Y

COVID-19 has brought new norms for everyone, invading new patterns and behavior for marketers and buyers. The pandemic has brought new challenges inhibiting new behavior among consumers and forcing them to adopt more contemporary shopping across the globe, and online buying is one of them. The present study explored how consumers of different generations owned the experience of online purchases during and after COVID-19 and how this experience has developed a sense of satisfaction for the specific e-commerce. Hence, this study intended to investigate two relationships using the Bagozzi framework: (i) between the behavior (e-loyalty), response (e-satisfaction), and (ii) between the response and the appraisals (e-service quality, perceived justice, and brand image). Research implied the Structural Equation Model to validate the proposed hypothesis. The generational cohort in this study represented Generation X (39-58) and Generation Y (18- 38) of North India. Further, the results also prove that companies\u27 brand image is one of the essential variables moderating the level of satisfaction among consumers and the website\u27s features. Based on the study\u27s outcome, managers can develop future marketing strategies on various dimensions of marketing, like how to communicate with consumers with generational gaps and aspirations for online shopping
