    Studi pendahuluan klasifikasi ukuran butir sedimen di Danau Laut Tawar, Takengon, Kabupaten Aceh Tengah, Provinsi Aceh

    Abstract. The purpose of this research was to examine the sediment grains size in Lake Laut Tawar. This research was done during Mei to June 2012. Five sampling stationse were determined i.e. Toweran, Bintang, Klitu, Boom and Ujung Mumpar. Dry sieving analysis method was used in this study with different diameter stage sediment sieve such as 4.75 mm, 1.7 mm, 250 m, 850 m, 150 m, 0.2 m, and 0.063 m. The data was then weighed and calculated for percentages. The results showed that the sediment in Toweran station was dominated by pebble and medium sand; in Bintang station was dominated by pebble and coarse sand; in Klitu station was dominated by pebble and medium sand; in Boom station was dominated of colloid and remaining shells; and in Ujung Mumpar station was dominated of pebble and coarse sand. Sampel sedimen disaring dengan ayakan bertingkat dengan diameter 4,75 mm, 1,7 mm, 250 m, 850 m, 150 m, 0,2 m, 0,063 m. Persentase berat fraksi sedimen dihitung berdasarkan saringan sedimen bertingkat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sedimen di Stasiun Toweran dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sedang, di Stasiun Bintang dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sangat kasar, di Stasiun Klitu dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sedang, di Stasiun Boom dominan koloid yang diikuti sisa kerang-kerangan dan di Stasiun Ujung Mumpar dominan kerakal dan batu yang diikuti pasir sangat kasar.     Abstract. The objective of present study was to evaluate the possibility of papayas latex (Carica papaya) as anti stress or larvaside for tiger shrimp (Panaeus monodon) post larvae Pl 14-30 during transportation. The tiger shrimp post larvae was collected from BBAP Ujung Batee, Aceh Besar on September, 2012. Reseach method used the completely random design with two factors, density of post larvae with three treatments (1000; 1500 dan 2000 ind/l) and concentration of papayas latex with four treatments (0; 100; 200 dan 300 ppm) and three replications for each treatments. The effect of papayas latex on tiger shrimp post larvae was observed by calculating the percentage of post larvaes survival rate. The calculation was only done after twelve hours of transportation, due to the everage of survival rate percentage of post larvae on all levels of density was less than 50%. The ANOVA test showed that the density and the concentration factors gave significance effect on survival rate of tiger shrimp post larvae (P0,05). The results showed that survival rate of tiger shrimp post larvae (PL 14-30) were decreased with increasing of larvae density and concentration of papayas latex. However, Duncans test showed that the highest survival rate was obtained at 1.000 ind/l and 0 ppm of papayas latex. Hence, the effect of papayas latex concentration treatments in this study was larvaside on tiger shrimp post larvae.Key words: Closed transportation system, dissolved oxygen, enzyme papain, tiger shrimp post larvae

    Abstract. Risk assesment of a habitat and its mappingis considerably important in environment appraisal. Biawak Island is a conservation and touristic area, one of its purpose is to bring positive influence to marine resource, both ecologically and economically. Biawak Island is inhibited by coral reefs, where human activities often occurs. Field survey was held during February 2013 in Biawak Island. The observation purpose was to assess coral reef risk in the islandby comparing three marine activities: fishing, diving, and snorkeling. Spatial modelling showed that every coral reef area in Biawak Island had high risk level, especially the southern part. Euclidean calculation result indicated that fishery had been the most influential activity toward coral reef habitat in Biawak Island.Keyword: Biawak Island; Coral reef; Risk assessment.Abstrak . Pulau Biawak merupakan daerah konservasi dan pariwisata, yang salah satu tujuannya adalah untuk memberikan dampak positif pada sumber daya laut baik ekologi maupun ekonomi. Pulau Biawak dikelilingi oleh terumbu karang dan banyak aktivitas manusia terjadi pada terumbu karang tersebut.Survey lapangan telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2013 di Pulau Biawak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai risiko terumbu karang di Pulau Biawak, dengan membandingkan tiga aktivitas kelautan yaitu penangkapan ikan, menyelam dan snorkeling. Pemodelan spasial menunjukan bahwa semua kawasan terumbu karang di Pulau Biawak pada tingkat kondisi risiko tinggi, terutama di daerah selatan.     Abstract. The objective of the present study was to evaluate diversity of phytoplankton as bioindicator water quality viewed from abundance, diversity index, evenness index, and saphrobic coefficient in Kuala Gigieng, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province. Sampling was conducted on December 2011 to January 2012. This study applied purposive sampling method. The research obtained 4 families consisted of Crysopyceae (42 genera), Chlorophyceae (8 genera), Cyanophyceae (14 genera) and Euglenophyceae (4 genera). The highest abundance of phytoplankton was 1,362.89 ind/l at high tide on station 3 and the lowest was at low tide on station 1 (809,835 ind/l). The diversity index (H) was ranged from 3.14 to 4.75, the evenness index (E) was ranged from 0.49 to 0.74, and saprobic coefficient was ranged from 0.331to 0.887. Based on saprobic coefficient, pollution level and water quality was categorized light to moderate level. Furthermore, phase of saprobic were -mesosaprobik, -meso/Oligosaprobik dan /-mesosaprobik.Key words : phytoplankton, abundance, diversity index, saprobic coefficient

    Hubungan variabilitas mixed layer depth kriteria T=0,5 oC dengan sebaran tuna di Samudera Hindia bagian timur

    Abstract. The Indian Ocean has an important role in the variability of aquatic ecosystems including fisheries resource. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) criterion T = 0.5 oC and distribution of tuna in the Eastern Indian Ocean. The study area was situated in the Eastern Indian Ocean at the coordinate 100 120oE dan 5 20oS. The data MLD criterion T = 0.5 oC as well as data distribution and tuna catches which processed in the seasonal period were used in this study. Visualization result showed that the variation of MLD based on the depth value was inversely related to MLD variation based on temperature. MLD variations indicated that the depth of the shallowest MLD on the West Monsoon and deepest on the East Monsoon, while the highest temperature of MLD was recorded in Transitional Monsoon 1 and the lowest in Transitional Monsoon 2. The most widespread distribution of tuna were in Eastern Monsoon and the narrowest in Transional Monsoon 1. MLD variation relations with tuna catches have seen fairly high correlation of Pearson correlation value of 0.891 for tuna catches with depth MLD correlation and -0.927 for tuna catches correlation with temperature MLD.Keywords : Mixed Layer Depth (MLD); T = 0.5 oC; Temperature; Depth; TunaAbstrak. Samudera Hindia merupakan salah satu perairan yang memiliki peranan penting dalam variabilitas ekosistem perairan termasuk didalamnya sumberdaya perikanan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan Mixed Layer Depth (MLD) kriteria T = 0,5 oC dengan sebaran Tuna di Samudera Hindia bagian Timur. Wilayah kajian penelitian ini adalah perairan Samudera Hindia bagian Timur dengan koordinat 100 120oBT dan 5 20oLS. Data yang digunakan adalah data MLD kriteria T = 0,5 oC berdasarkan suhu dan kedalamannya, serta data sebaran dan tangkapan Tuna yang diolah dalam periode musiman. Hasil visualisasi menunjukkan bahwa variasi MLD berdasarkan kedalaman memiliki nilai berbanding terbalik dengan variasi MLD berdasarkan suhu. Variasi MLD menunjukkan bahwa kedalaman MLD paling dangkal berada pada Musim Barat yakni berkisar antara 22 60 dbar dan paling dalam berada pada Musim Timur dengan nilai berkisar antara 60 100 dbar, sedangkan suhu MLD tertinggi berada pada Musim Peralihan 1 yakni 28,5 29,5 oC dan terendah pada Musim Peralihan 2 dengan nilai berkisar antara 23 29 oC. Sebaran Tuna paling luas berada pada Musim Timur dan paling sempit berada pada Musim Peralihan 1. Hubungan variasi MLD dengan hasil tangkapan Tuna memiliki korelasi cukup tinggi yang terlihat dari nilai korelasi Pearson sebesar +0,891 untuk korelasi tangkapan Tuna dengan kedalaman MLD dan -0,927 untuk korelasi hasil tangkapan Tuna dengan suhu MLD.Kata kunci : Mixed Layer Depth; T = 0,5 oC; Suhu; Kedalaman; Tun

    Penggunaan berbagai asam organik dan bakteri asam laktat terhadap nilai nutrisi limbah ikan

    Abstract. Fish silage is a liquid product from fish by product preserved in acid, and could potentially be used as feedstuff. The fish sialge can be produced through both biological andchemical methods, however to date the the quality of result was low, therefore this study was crucially needed. The research objective was to acquire the right method to improve the nutritional quality of fish silage and produce cheap fish feed ingredients. The factorial completely randomized design was used in the study. The first treatment was the effect of various types of organic acids (formic acid, propionic acid, benzoic acid, sorbic acid, citric acid, acetic acid) and LAB (Lactobacillus casei) to fish silage quality. The second treatment was the effect fermentation time (3, 7 and 14 days) to fish silage quality. The results showed that the highest protein content (45.95%) was occured on treatment using L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days. The highest fat content (5.87%) wasfound on treatment using L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days. In addition, the lower protein content (30.02%) is occured on treatment using propionic acid with fermentation time of 3 days, while the lowest fat content (4.77%) was occured on treatment using benzoic acid with fermentation time of 3 days. It was concluded that the best quality of fish silage was occured on treatment using L. casei with fermentation time of 14 days.Keywords : fish silage; organic acid; LABAbstrak. Silase ikan merupakan produk cair dari ikan-ikan yang terbuang/rucah yang diawetkan dalam suasana asam, dan berpotensi digunakan sebagai bahan baku pakan ikan. Pembuatan silase ikan dapat dilakukan dengan cara biologis maupun kimia, dan sampai saat ini belum didapatkan metode yang optimal, sehingga mendapatkan kualitas silase ikan yang tinggi. Tujuan penelitian adalah memperoleh teknologi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kualitas nutrisi silase limbah ikan dan menghasilkan bahan baku pakan ikan yang murah, mudah didapat dan berkualitas. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap pola faktorial. Perlakuan pertama adalah pemberian berbagai jenis asam organik (asam formiat, asam propionat, asam benzoat, asam sorbat, asam sitrat, asam asetat) dan BAL (Lactobacillus casei). Perlakuan kedua adalah waktu fermentasi (3, 7 dan 14 hari). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan protein tertinggi (45,95%) pada silase ikan menggunakan L. casei, waktu fermentasi 14 hari. Kandungan lemak tertinggi (5,87%) pada silase ikan menggunakan L. casei, waktu fermentasi 14 hari. Kandungan protein terendah (30,02%) pada silase ikan dengan menggunakan asam propionat waktu fermentasi 3 hari, kandungan lemak terendah (4,77%) pada silase ikan menggunakan asam benzoat waktu fermentasi 3 hari. Pembuatan silase ikan yang terbaik adalah dengan cara biologis menggunakan BAL (L. casei) dan waktu fermentasi 14 hari.Kata kunci :silase ikan; asam organik; BA

    Pengaruh fase bulan dan pasang surut terhadap kemunculan pari manta (Manta alfredi) di Perairan Karang Makassar, Taman Nasional Komodo Nusa Tenggara Timur

    Abstract. Karang Makassar is known as Manta point which is located in the Komodo National Park, Indonesia. This location is one of the habitat for manta ray. This research was conducted to find out the relationship between the appereance of manta ray with lunar pattern and tidal cycle. Observation data was collected from September to October 2012. Photo ID method was used to assess the number of manta ray appeareance. Lunar pattern data was obtained from USNO NAVY database, and tidal cycle was obtained from WX Tide Prediction Server. The result shows that from 20 dives, the highest average number of manta rays appearance was during full moon by 9,8 individual per dive. Meanwhile, during half moon and new moon were only 3 individual appearances per dive. On the other hand, based on tidal cycle, the highest manta rays appeareance was found during rising by 6,5 individual per dive, on falling by 4,4 individual per dive, and the lowest on slack by 3,4 individual per dive. We suggest that the best time for seeing manta rays in this location is during full moon and raising time. Keywords: Manta rays; Lunar patterns; Tidal cycle; National Komodo Park Abstrak. Perairan Karang Makassar, dikenal sebagai Manta Point yang berada di Taman Nasional (T.N.) Komodo, Indonesia. Lokasi ini merupakan salah satu habitat bagi pari manta. Penelitian kali ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kemunculan pari manta dengan fase bulan dan pasang surut. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan September Oktober 2012. Metode Photo ID dipergunakan untuk menhitung jumlah individu kemunculan pari manta. Sedangkan untuk data fase bulan diperoleh dari USNO NAVY berupa persentasi cahaya bulan, sedangkan untuk pasang surut didapatkan dari WX Tide Prediction Server. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dari 20 kali penyelaman, rata-rata kemunculan tertinggi terjadi saat fase bulan penuh sebesar 9,8 individu per penyelaman. Pada bulan setengah jumlah kemunculan paling sedikit yaitu 3 kemunculan per penyelaman, sama dengan fase bulan baru yaitu 3 kemunculan per penyelaman. Sementara itu berdasarkan pola pasang surut, diperoleh rata-rata jumlah individu tertinggi yang muncul yaitu pada pada saat pasang sebanyak 6,5 individu per penyelaman, saat surut sebesar 4,4 individu per penyelaman, sedangkan pada saat kendur paling sedikit yaitu sebesar 3,4 individu per penyelaman. Kami menyarankan bahwa waktu yang terbaik untuk melihat pari manta di lokasi ini adalah pada saat bulan penuh dan saat pasang.Kata kunci: Pari Manta; Fase Bulan; Pasang Surut; Taman Nasional Komod

    Abstract. This study presents an economic analysis of tiger and humpback grouperat different production scales in Indonesia. The results highlight the nonviabilityof small scale tiger grouper, with a 5 years projected negativecumulative cash flow of Rp. 18.102.650 and a negative net present value (NPV)of Rp. 22.059.576. An increasing production scale of tiger grouper highlight amarginal viability for medium scale (with a 5 year projected cumulative cashflow of Rp. 198.320.673 and a positive NPV of Rp. 105.578.440; with a benefitcost ratio of 1,25; an internal rate of return (IRR) of 88%; and a paybackperiod of 0,99 year), and an economically viable of large scale cage culture(with a 5 year projected cumulative cash of Rp. 707.746.923; a NPV of Rp.406.801.749; a benefit cost ratio of 1,33;an internal rate of return of 157%;and a payback period of 0,57 year). The economic analysis of humpback grouper atdifferent production scales highlight positive cumulative cash, a positive NPV,a benefit cost ratio higher than 2, an internal rate of return over 300% and apayback period of less than one year. A sensitivity analysis revealed thatincreased survival rate up to 80% would increase cumulative cash and NPV ofsmall scale tiger grouper cage culture.     Abstract. Slot777 is one of the Wargabet marine conservation areas in Bali that has high potential to become a tourist destination. Therefore, this study aims to see the extent of the benefits of slot777 as a marine tourism area. The study was conducted from September 2012 to February 2013. The method used is descriptive quantitative using analysis of coral community cover percentage calculations, mortality index, marine ecotourism suitability index, marine ecotourism area carrying capacity, evaluation of community welfare levels. The results of the study showed that the percentage of coral cover in Slot777 was categorized from good to very good, ranging from 52.00% -97.00% with a mortality index ranging from 0.00 - 0.01 at a depth of 3 meters and 0.00-0.025 at a depth of 10 meters. Therefore, the Slot777 conservation area is suitable for diving, snorkeling and beach tourism activities with a carrying capacity of the area for diving of 153 people/day, snorkeling of 212 people/day and beach ecotourism of 122 people/day. From this study, it can be concluded that the Slot777 conservation area has an impact on improving the welfare of the Wargabet community as tourism workers with an increase in income of 10%-30% and also increasing the income of the Klungkung Regency area.Keywords : Benefit; Marine ecotourism; Wargabet; Protected Area.Abstrak. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana manfaat slot777 ini sebagai kawasan wisata bahari. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2012 sampai Februari 2013. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan analisis perhitungan persen tutupan komunitas karang, indeks mortalitas, indeks kesesuaian ekowisata bahari, daya dukung kawasan ekowisata bahari, evaluasi tingkat kesejahteraan masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persen tutupan karang di Slot777 dikategorikan dari baik sampai sangat baik yaitu berkisar antara 52,00%-97,00% dengan indeks mortalitas berkisar antara 0,00 0,01 pada kedalaman 3 meter dan 0,00-0,025 pada kedalaman 10 meter. Oleh karena itu kawasan konservasi Slot777 sesuai untuk aktivitas wisata selam, snorkling, dan wisata pantai dengan daya dukung kawasan untuk selam 153 orang/hari, snorkling 212 orang/hari dan ekowisata pantai sebanyak 122 orang/hari. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa kawasan konservasi Slot777 memberi dampak terhadap peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat Wargabet sebagai pekerja wisata dengan bertambahnya pendapatan sebesar 10%-30% dan juga menambah pemasukan daerah Kabupaten Klungkung.Kata Kunci : Ekowisatata Bahari; Kawasan Konservasi; Manfaat; Wargabe

The relationship betweentemperatureandchlorophyll-a resultshowedvariationbutona warmtemperatureandfairlyhigh chlorophyll-a, catchedarehigh enoughinSeptember-November.Keywords: Indonesian Throughflow; Lombok Strait; SkipjackAbstrak.Pergerakan ARLINDO yang melalui perairan Indonesia berpengaruh pada karakteristik perairan di timur Indonesia dimana salah satunya adalah Selat Lombok. Kajian ini menekankan pengaruh Arlindo terhadap variasi sebaran suhu dan klorofil-a terhadap hasil tangkapan ikan cakalang di Selat Lombok pada periode tahun 2008. Data yang digunakan yaitu suhu, klorofil-a, arus permukaan dan hasil tangkapan ikan cakalang. Hasil visualisasi menunjukkan pada musim barat, suhu permukaan lautnya cukup tinggi yaitu berkisar 26,62-31,12oC dan konsentrasi klorofil-a sebesar 0,056-0,978mg (m-3)-1 dengan arah arus cenderung ke timur laut dengan kecepatan 0,0250-0,4439 m/detik. Pada musim peralihan I suhu permukaan lautnya sedikit mengalami penurunan yaitu berkisar 26,77-30,30oC dan dan diikuti dengan kenaikan konsentrasi klorofil-a sebesar 0,073-0,732mg (m-3)-1 dengan arah arus cenderung ke timur dengan kecepatan 0,0640-0,8123 m/detik. Pada musim timur suhu permukaan lautnya cukup rendah yaitu berkisar 24,30-29,33oC dan dan diikuti dengan kenaikan konsentrasi klorofil-a sebesar 0,149-0,989mg (m-3)-1 dengan arah arus ke tenggara dengan kecepatan 0,4351-1,1813 m/detik. Pada musim peralihan II suhu permukaan lautnya kembali naik yaitu berkisar 25,12-31,05oC dan dan diikuti dengan penurunan konsentrasi klorofil-a sebesar 0,096-0,946mg (m-3)-1 dengan arah arus ke tenggara dengan kecepatan 0,1129-0,7336 m/detik. Hubungan antara suhu dan klorofil-amenunjukkan adanya variasi akan tetapi pada suhu yang hangat dan klorofil-a yang cukup tinggi terdapat hasil tangkapan yang cukup tinggi yaitu pada bulan September-November.Kata kunci : Arlindo; Selat Lombok; Ikan Cakalan
