A poem can be analyzed from the point of the structure and style of language features, the functions of language, structure and semantic context in all the linguistic frameworks. Through the analysis of lexical cohesion, it is expected to facilitate the reader to comprehend the text as a whole and objectively that lead no multi-interpretations.Analysis of lexical cohesion analysis in a collection of poems Gelap Berlapis-Lapis contain of repetition; repetition of words, phrases or rhythmic repetition. For analysis of synonymy, it consists of absolute and non-absolute synonymy. Meanwhile, aside from the existence of repetition and synonymy, there are also antonymy, hiponymy with its superordinate, metonymy and collocation . From the data analysis, lexical cohesion devices can tie each line into one whole cohesive poem and ease the readers to appreciate the poem through thereferences indicated by the lexical cohesion devices

No full textThe male main character presented as the narrator in Poe’s The Tell Tale Heart is the interesting one described by Edgar Allan Poe. He is described as the character who suffers from the mental illness. He feels really anxious as he sees the old man’s eyes so that the feeling drives him to murder and mutilate the old man. How are the symptoms and type of mental illnes experienced by the narrator described by the short story? and how do the psychological problems give impacts to his life? are the two questions formulated in the study to understand the mental illness from which the male main character suffers. Here, literature can be discussed based on the psychological perspective. Hence, it needs literature and psychology and psychological criticism. Furthermore, to discuss further about what happens with the narrator’s psychology, it needs the psychological theory focusing to schizophrenia. Qualitative research is established to analyze the narrator’s utterances as the data. It is described that the narrator experiences anxious, delusion, and auditory hallucination. The two symptoms prove that he suffers from disorganized schizophrenia. This syndrome is marked by the narrator who experiences disorganized speech and behaviour. This syndrome makes the narrator desires to kill, kills, mutilates, deposits the old man without knowing the reason, and admits the deed

Latar belakang ini kemudian memunculkan banyak permasalahan rasial, salah satunya berupa penstereotipan kelompok dari ras tertentu. Ada banyak faktor yang menyebabkan munculnya stereotip dalam masyarakat yang heterogen. Sastra, sebagai salah satu sarana pencerminan masyarakat, seringkali mengangkat masalah-masalah tersebut sebagai sebuah tema. Fenomena ini pula yang dituangkan Richard Wright, seorang penulis Amerika, di dalam novelnya yang berjudul Native Son. Oleh karena itu, studi ini menggunakan konsep sosiologi sastra yang menghubungkan karya sastra dengan element eksternalnya. Studi ini menemukan beberapa stereotip orang kulit hitam yang digambarkan dalam novel tersebut, seperti tidak berpendidikan, kriminal, religius, berbakat dalam musik. No full textLanguage is not neutral, but it is depending on who is using thelanguage. Research on the use of language in political speeches isinteresting and important thing to do with the following objectives: ( 1 ) to describe the use of elements of language in relation to ideology and role played by political parties in Indonesia, ( 2 ) to identify power relations which was formed by leaders of political parties in Indonesia through their political speeches.The results showed that the elements of the language used in the speech demonstrated the role in term of textual analysis involving the use of pronouns , transitivity, modalities to demonstrate its power level, aspects, coherence, lexical analysi about the use of certain terms that are closely related to the life social. In terms of discourse practices, especially intertextuality, it is also used the phrase referring to a slogan or philosophy in Indonesia and the familiar to the public. In terms of social practice, in delivering his speech, the party leaders are motivated by social andpolitical conditions exist. For power relations constructed in their speeches, the party leaders do not always constant in building its power. It depends on the intent and purpose of what is delivered. Sometimes power is built on a superior position, but on the other hand it is inferior and sometimes also becoming equal. Given that language is not neutral then, the power relations also become liquid

Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data utama berbentuk video dan transkrip dialog antartokoh dalam episode 18, “DJ Tanner’s Day Off” yang ditayangkan ulang oleh stasiun tv tersebut. Analisa data dipresentasikan dalam bentuk tabel yang dihubungkan dengan tiap pernyataan masalah. Studi ini salah satunya menemukan bahwa illocutionary acts lebih memiliki peran dan tujuan utama dalam speech acts untuk menyampaikan maksud seseorangkepada yang lain, apakah untuk humor atau tidak
