    Jurnalisme Imersif dan Partisipasi Publik dalam Industri Media

    This article aims to introduce the concept of immersive journalism as a new genre in digital journalism. Hierarchy of influence is used to understand the condition of immersive journalism in the media industry. This article describes the condition of digital journalism in Indonesia and the concept of immersive journalism using the literature review method. The results of the analysis show that the production, distribution, and consumption processes of news are influenced by internal and external media organizations. The public participation opportunity that has been created in digital journalism has the potential to sustain in immersive journalism. The audience can actively participate and have control over narrative construction. A series of challenges in the development of immersive journalism that have been identified include business potential, adaptation of supporting tools, narrative creation, and vulnerability to manipulation. The dilemmatic problems faced by media industry players will be even more complex if they apply immersive journalism: redefining with the audience the limits of participation, narrative framing, objectivity, and sensitive content.ABSTRAK Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan konsep jurnalisme imersif sebagai genre baru dalam jurnalisme digital. Teori hierarki pengaruh digunakan untuk memahami kondisi jurnalisme imersif dalam industri media. Tulisan ini memaparkan kondisi jurnalisme digital di Indonesia dan konsep jurnalisme imersif dengan menggunakan metode kajian literatur. Hasil analisis menunjukkan proses produksi, distribusi, hingga konsumsi berita dipengaruhi oleh internal dan eksternal organisasi media. Ruang partisipasi publik yang telah terbentuk dalam jurnalisme digital, memiliki potensi keberlanjutan dalam jurnalisme imersif ketika khalayak dapat berpartisipasi aktif dan memiliki kendali terhadap konstruksi narasi. Serangkaian tantangan dalam prengembangan jurnalisme imersif yang telah diidentifikasi antara lain potensi bisnis, adaptasi piranti penunjang, pembuatan narasi, dan kerentanan manipulasi. Permasalahan dilematis yang dihadapi pelaku industri media akan semakin kompleks jika menerapkan jurnalisme imersif: merumuskan kembali bersama khalayaknya batasan partisipasi, pembingkaian narasi, objektivitas, serta konten sensitif

    Mobile dating app Bumble telah dikenal sebagai ‘Tinder versi feminis’ karena memungkinkan perempuan untuk mengontrol penuh aktivitas percakapan mereka. Bumble juga dipandang sebagai lanskap teknologi baru, dimana perempuan dapat melakukan aktivitas kencan secara online melalui proses menginisiasikan percakapan, mengeksplorasi relasional yang beragam, hingga hasrat seksual. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma Kristis dengan metode fenomenologi dan dalam memperoleh data menggunakan wawancara tidak terstruktur terhadap 43 informan pengguna perempuan Jabodetabek, untuk menjawab pengalaman-pengalaman apa saja yang mereka temui selama menggunakan Bumble. Hasil dari penelitian menemukan bahwa fitur Bumble yang terkesan memberdayakan perempuan ini membuat perempuan dapat bernegosiasi dan berpartisipasi dalam menciptakan sebuah hubungan impian, meskipun dianggap melawan norma gender tradisional yang melekat di masyarakat. Dimulai dari hubungan yang paling banyak dan paling mudah ditemukan seperti hubungan pertemanan, hingga hubungan yang membutuhkan usaha lebih untuk menemukannya, seperti pacar atau suami, serta kejadian-kejadian lain yang mereka alami selama menggunakan mobile dating app Bumble, dari yang menyenangkan, hingga meninggalkan kekecewaan

    Kim Seon Ho, You Are Cancelled: The Collective Understanding of Cancel Culture

    On October 2021, Kim Seon Ho was on peak of his career when faced a wave of backlash after an anonymous post circulated in online communities saying that an unnamed actor “manipulated her into getting an abortion under false pretenses” and being cancelled. Researchers will use a case study of a Kim Seon Ho from South Korea who has been subjected to cancel culture in order to examine the complexity of this social phenomenon. This research tries to understand the cancel culture phenomenon that is not only happened in South Korea, but also USA, or other countries. Using FGD and also literature for data collection, this study explores how the responses from the participants’ expected to give meaning about regarding cancel culture. The result is some of participants agree with the cancel culture to be implemented, and some of them disagree. The conclusion is cancel culture can be a good thing when we want to make those who can be role model are those with positive attitudes. But on the other hand, cancel culture can be a bad thing when we place celebrity as a material commodity and get cancelled easily

    Seiring berkembangnya teknologi, pengimplementasian gamification, yaitu membawa elemen permainan dalam berbagai bidang sudah banyak dilakukan, termasuk dalam e-commerce atau perdagangan elektronik. Pengimplementasian gamification dilakukan dengan berbagai tujuan, seperti membuat konsumen terlibat secara aktif dengan suatu brand. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada implementasi gamification Shopee Tanam dalam aplikasi Shopee Indonesia untuk melihat apakah terdapat pengaruh gamification terhadap brand engagement. Konsep yang digunakan adalah gamification dengan dimensi entertainment, interaction, dan novelty; e-satisfaction terkait convenience, customisation, information, dan communication; dan brand engagement yang mencakup emosi, kognitif, dan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan memperoleh data melalui survei. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa implementasi gamification Shopee Tanam dapat mempengaruhi brand engagement Shopee secara langsung tanpa dimediasi oleh e-satisfaction terhadap Shopee Tanam. Namun, dengan dimediasi oleh e-satisfaction, implementasi gamification Shopee Tanam memiliki pengaruh yang lebih besar terhadap brand engagement

    The phenomenon of anonymous self-disclosure on social media is currently increasingly found, one of which is on social media Twitter. The @collegemenfess Twitter account is an autobase account that is widely used as a medium for student self-disclosure, especially about college issues and campus life.The purpose of this study was to determine the form of areas and motives of self-disclosure and cyber culture formed on the autobase @collegemenfess account. The study used descriptive qualitative methods. The Data in this study were obtained through interviews with 5 informants and observations on communication activities in cyberspace Twitter account @collegemenfess. The results showed that there were two forms of johari Window area that occurred in the self-disclosure in the @collegemenfess account, which occurred in the open area and the blind area. Furthermore, it is known that there are five motives for users to do self-disclosure, the @collegemenfess account is anonymous, users are afraid to tell stories with others directly, to share information and experiences, to overcome problems and get a better understanding, and motivation and actualization. The study also found five levels of cyber culture formed, namely the first level of media space, where the @collegemenfess account uses Twitter as a medium. Second, the level of media documents, where the media documents in this account are the access, interaction, activities and responses from users. Third, the media object level, where the @collegemenfess account is used as a place to discuss such as exchanging stories and expressing yourself. Finally, the experience level, which is the reason the account owner created this account to provide a communication platform for students and user communication culture using an anonymous identity.ABSTRAK Fenomena pengungkapan diri secara anonim di media sosial saat ini semakin banyak ditemukan, salah satunya di media sosial Twitter. Akun Twitter @collegemenfess merupakan akun autobase yang banyak dijadikan sebagai media pengungkapan diri mahasiswa khususnya tentang masalah perkuliahan dan kehidupan kampus. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk area dan motif pengungkapan diri serta budaya siber yang terbentuk pada akun autobase @collegemenfess. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui wawancara kepada 5 orang informan dan observasi pada aktivitas komunikasi di ruang siber akun Twitter @collegemenfess. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada dua bentuk area jendela johari yang terjadi pada pengungkapan diri di akun @collegemenfess, yaitu terjadi pada area terbuka dan area buta. Selanjutnya, diketahui terdapat lima motif pengguna melakukan pengungkapan diri yaitu, akun @collegemenfess bersifat anonim, pengguna takut bercerita dengan orang lain secara langsung, untuk berbagi informasi dan pengalaman, untuk mengatasi masalah dan mendapatkan pemahaman yang lebih baik, serta motivasi dan aktualisasi diri. Penelitian ini juga menemukan lima level budaya siber yang terbentuk yaitu pertama level ruang media, dimana akun @collegemenfess menggunakan Twitter sebagai medium. Kedua, level dokumen media, dimana yang menjadi dokumen media dalam akun ini adalah menfess, interaksi, kegiatan dan tanggapan dari pengguna. Ketiga, level objek media, dimana akun @collegemenfess dijadikan sebagai tempat untuk berdiskusi seperti bertukar cerita dan mengekspresikan diri. Terakhir, level pengalaman, dimana alas an pemilik akun membuat akun ini untuk memberikan wadah komunikasi bagi mahasiswa dan budaya komunikasi pengguna menggunakan identitas anonim.

    Persepsi Publik, Kapasitas Personal dan Kepemimpinan Presiden Joko Widodo dalam Mengatasi Pandemi Covid-19

    This article is directed to examine how did Indonesian people perceived Joko Widodo’s personal competence and leadership resiliency during the covid-19 pandemic era and the degree to which did political preference of these people on political party carry out effects on such perceptions. Focusing on these issues, this article adopts concepts of presidential leadership, personal competence, resilient leadership and political preference, collects the survei data derived from 1200 respondents using a multistage random sampling and extracts the survei data using descriptive and cross tabulation statistical analyses. The finding indicates that the Indonesian people’ perception of Joko Widodo’s personal competence and leadership resiliency to handle covid-19 pandemic-related problems varied. Most of them perceived that President Joko Widodo had personal competence and leadership resiliency to manage covid-19 pandemic. Polical preference of these people on political party are likely to determine these perceptions however. These evidences confirms that not merely a perception bias among these people regarding Joko Widodo’s personal competence and leadership resiliency to manage covid-19 pandemic-related problems keep evolving, but also political preference of these people on political party have  been taking place as a determinant factor. This hints that a perception bias remained taking shape as influential factor that determines the development of Indonesian (electoral) politics. AbstrakArtikel ini dimaksudkan untuk membahas bagaimana bagaimana masyarakat di Indonesia mempersepsikan kemampuan personal dan ketangguhan kemimpinan presiden Joko Widodo dalam mengatasi wabah covid 19 dan juga sejauh mana preferensi politik mereka pada parpol berdampak pada persepsi mereka mengenai hal tersebut. Dengan fokus pada kedua hal tersebut, penulis, dalam artikel ini, mengadaptasi konsep kepemimpinan presiden, kapasitas personal, ketangguhan kepemimpinan dan preferensi politik sebagai kerangka konsep dan melakukan survei nasional di 34 Propinsi pada bulan April 2021. Data survei dikumpulkan dari 1200 responden yang dipilih dengan metode multistage random. Data survei tersebut dianalisis dengan analisis statistik deskriptif dan tabulasi silang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi publik terkait dengan kemampuan personal dan ketangguhan kemimpinan presiden Joko Widodo dalam mengatasi wabah covid 19 cukup beragam. Namun mayoritas publik berpandangan bahwa Presiden Joko Widodo memiliki kemampuan personal dan ketangguhan kemimpinan presiden Joko Widodo dalam mengatasi wabah covid 19 tersebut. Pilihan politik terhadap parpol dalam Pemilu Legislatif 2019 menentukan persepsi tersebut. Temuan tersebut mengindikasikan adanya bias persepsi publik terkait dengan kemampuan personal dan resilensi kepemimpinan seorang presiden dalam penanganan bencana, seperti wabah pandemi dan bias persepsi tersebut ditentukan oleh preferensi politik publik terhadap partai politik. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa bias persepsi publik masih menjadi faktor yang berpengaruh yang dapat menentukan perkembangan politik electoral di Indonesia

    This paper further reviews the Moral Panic Theory/TKM (Moral Panics Theory). This theory departs from sociological concepts that see conflict in society that departs from an issue that is dichotomously divided on the grounds of good and bad, right and wrong morality and is considered to have the potential to threaten national security in the long term. There are several linear stages in TKM in early TKM models initiated by Cohen (1972) and developed more or less similarly by Hall et al. (1978). Then came the constructionist model which was heavily influenced by Blumer's thinking. Technological developments and shifting issues from social problems such as motorcycle gangs, mugging and drugs to more sensitive social issues such as sexuality cause the dynamics and complexity of TKM analysis. The concepts of power and the role of the media, for example. This paper describes the initial concepts in TKM and its development in a situation of changing issues, power and development of mass media technology, which in the end must adapt to the existing situation.ABSTRAKTulisan ini mengulas lebih lanjut mengenai Teori Kepanikan Moral/TKM (Moral Panics Theory). Teori ini berangkat dari konsep-konsep sosiologis yang melihat adanya konflik di masyarakat yang berangkat dari sebuah isu yang terbelah secara dikotomis dengan alasan moralitas baik-buruk, benar-salah dan dianggap berpotensi mengancam keamanan nasional dalam jangka panjang. Ada beberapa tahap linear dalam TKM pada model-model awal TKM yang diinisiasi oleh Cohen (1972) dan dikembangkan kurang lebih sama oleh Hall dkk (1978). Kemudian muncul model konstruksionis yang banyak dipengaruhi oleh pemikiran Blumer. Perkembangan teknologi dam pergeseran isu dari masalah sosial seperti geng motor, penjambretan dan drug ke masalah sosial yang lebih sensitif seperti seksualitas menyebabkan dinamika dan kompleksitas analisis pada TKM. Konsep-konsep kekuasan dan peran media, misalnya. Studi ini menjelaskan konsep-konsep awal dalam TKM dan perkembangannya dalam situasi perubahan isu, kekuasaan dan perkembangan teknologi media massa, yang pada akhirnya harus menyesuaikan diri dengan situasi yang ada.

    This work is intended to answer how the consequences of media ownership by local elites on the production and construction of discourses of dominant-marginal figures of candidate pairs in the news on the 2018 NTT Governor Election in the Local Newspaper Victory News edition of February – June 2018. With these research questions, this research adopts a critical political economy perspective, instrumental approaches, and critical discourse analysis. The findings show that the different access of the elite to the media is responsible for producing different access to the structure of news reports. This access generates the following five filters 1.) Victory News as an instrument for adding Viktor Laiskodat's hand; 2.) Advertising as a source of income; 3.) Elite as the main news source; 4.) Criticism as a means of disciplining the media and 5.) Pancasila as the ideology of the Republic of Indonesia as a media control mechanism. Meanwhile, from the text level, four main findings can be drawn, namely 1.) Victory News has a minimum critical attitude; 2.) Reliance on elites as news sources; 3.) How and why to become a marginal element in the news Victory News; and 4.) The dominant words of hyperbole when describing the figure of the candidate pair Victory-Joss

    The government's decision regarding the dissolution and termination of all FPI activities raises pro and contra among the media and the public. The dissolution of FPI was decided by means of a decree signed by six ministers and heads of state institutions. This study aims to describe and dismantle the discourse of the news text on the decision to dissolve FPI using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The research method used is Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis through understanding text and context. There are five steps that are used as a reference. First, focus on social irregularities in its semiotic aspects. Second, identify barriers to address the social irregularities. Third, consider whether social order requires social irregularity. Fourth, identify possible ways to overcome these obstacles. Fifth, reflect critically from those four points. The results showed that kompas.com put FPI as the wrong position and the government's decision to dissolve FPI through an SKB was right. It is clear that kompas.com sided with the government. Kompas.com follows part of the flow of public votes in its news about FPI as a business strategy. The positioning of kompas.com was carried out because the government's decision to dissolve FPI caused pro and contra among the media and the public
