No full textEn terre Limousine, cinq mille cadeaux reçus par le président Jacques Chirac sont rassemblés dans un musée édifié à cet effet. Dans la Nièvre, le musée du Septennat de François Mitterrand présente des objets du monde entier et des portraits peints, recueillis durant sa mandature. Ce étude porte sur la représentation picturale des présidents et se propose de définir une typologie du genre à partir de ces collections de portraits offerts à François Mitterrand et Jacques Chirac par des chefs d’État étrangers et des personnes privées. Les figures présidentielles suggèrent mythes, parfum de sacré et syncrétisme.In the Limousin region, five thousands gifts presented to President Jacques Chirac are gathered in a museum built specifically for this purpose. In the Nievre department the museum of Francois Mitterrand’s displays objects and painted portraits from the whole world, gathered during his seven year term. The following pages focus on the meaning of these portraits. The prupose of this study is to define a typology through these collections of portraits given to François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac by foreign heads of state and individuals.
