Indragiri Hilir is one of regency in Riau Province which have the most coconut plantations. Increasing of coconut production will be in line with the waste produced. The utilization of waste from coconut plantations, especially coconut shells, has not been carried out optimally in Harapan Tani Village, Kempas District, in Indragiri Hilir Regency. This is due to the lack of knowledge about the utilization of waste from coconut shells. In fact, if the waste is processed, it can become a product with high economic value, namely charcoal briquettes. So an efforts to increase public knowledge is needed to be carried out through community service activities, namely by socializing and training to produce charcoal briquettes from coconut shell waste. From the activities that have been carried out, there is a high interest from participants in participating in the training and there is an increase in participant knowledge of the benefits of coconut shell waste charcoal briquettes and participants are able to make briquettes from coconut shells independently

Frankincense sap has never been separated from the trading or marketing system. Collecting traders and wholesalers determine prices for producers to make a profit. The research aims to determine the marketing channels, marketing margin, and farmer's Share of two marketing channels for frankincense resin in the production center in North Sumatra, namely Lumban Dolok Village, Pahae Julu District, North Tapanuli Regency. The sampling method uses the Random Sampling method for farmers and the census method for traders. Thirty-seven samples were taken from 31 farmers, four collecting traders, and two wholesalers. The research results show that there are two patterns of marketing channels for incense resin in Lumban Dolok Village, Pahae Julu District, North Tapanuli Regency, namely Channel I consisting of farmers selling to collecting traders, then selling to wholesalers and then selling to consumers. Meanwhile, Channel II consists of farmers who are wholesalers to consumers. The marketing margin for incense resin in Channel I is IDR 50,000/Kg, while the marketing margin in Channel II is IDR 30,000/Kg. The farmer's Share in Marketing Channel I is 0.8%, and Marketing Channel II is 0.9%. The efficiency value of Marketing Channel I is 0.3%, and Marketing Channel II is 0.4%

MELISSOPALYNOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF HONEY FROM DOLAGO VILLAGE, CENTRAL SULAWESI

    Get PDF
One thing that honeybees create that is very beneficial to human health is honey. Consequently, honey is frequently faked. With melissopalynology analysis, honey quality can be ascertained. A technique for analyzing pollen in honey to ascertain its botanical and geographic origin is called melissopalynology analysis. This study uses melissopalynology to analyze the quality and pollen composition of honey produced by Apis cerana bees in Dolago Village, Central Sulawesi. The research consists of five stages: collecting honey, extracting pollen from it using a modified acetolysis method, identifying pollen, classifying honey, and last, absolute pollen count. The analysis identified 11 plant species contributing to honey production, with Cocos nucifera as the predominant pollen (70%). Classified as unifloral honey with Group IV pollen richness, this research confirms the high quality and unique floral origin of Dolago honey, emphasizing its potential for local economic development

EVALUATION OF SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AT UNIVERSITY X JAKARTA

    Get PDF
Most of the waste produced in the university environment comes from the canteen. The accumulation of waste in the university environment is due to the lack of proper waste management. The sorting, collection, transportation, and recycling process has not been carried out, and even education and awareness of all university components have not been maximized. This research aims to evaluate waste management in the university environment using qualitative methods with a descriptive design. Respondents consisted of 5 informants, namely key informants (management section), primary informants (head in charge of university cleanliness, janitor, waste collection officer), and supporting informants (campus security officers). Data was collected using in-depth interviews, field observations, and document reviews, which were then validated using source and method triangulation methods. The research results stated that there were no operational standards in waste management in the university environment, unscheduled transportation schedules, and no community awareness of the need to sort waste properly. There needs to be active participation of the entire academic community and transparent policies in managing campus waste

POLLEN MORPHOLOGICAL DIVERSITY OF ASTERACEAE SPECIES IN THE TADULAKO UNIVERSITY CAMPUS AREA

    Get PDF
This study aims to explore the morpho-anatomical diversity of pollen from various plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family within the Tadulako University area. Flower samples were collected using an exploration method and prepared for palynological analysis using a modified acetolysis technique. Six Asteraceae species were identified: Tridax procumbens L., Cyanthillium cinereum (L.) H.Rob., Synedrella nodiflora (L.) Gaertn., Eleutheranthera ruderalis (Sw.) Sch.Bip., Porophyllum ruderale (Jacq.) Cass., and Chromolaena odorata (L.) R.M.King & H.Rob. The study revealed significant differences in pollen morphology, particularly in shape (spheroidal), aperture number (3–4 colporates), ornamentation (echinate vs. lophate), and size. Pollen size ranged from 21.29 µm to 35.66 µm (equatorial diameter) and wall thickness ranged from 2.16 µm to 4.82 µm. These variations serve as reliable taxonomic markers for distinguishing species at both genus and species levels. This research provides valuable insights into the biodiversity and evolutionary adaptations of the Asteraceae family and supports the use of palynological data in systematic botany

Analysis of the Effectiveness of the BSPS Program of the Ministry of PUPR in Pakkat District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance Program (BSPS) in Pakkat District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, using a qualitative approach and a public policy evaluation framework from William N. Dunn. The results of the study indicate that this program is highly effective in enhancing the quality of housing for low-income communities, with active community participation and local 'gotong royong' practices (marsiadapari) playing a significant role. Efficiency is achieved through the optimization of regional resources, although logistical challenges remain an obstacle. The limited value of assistance is not entirely sufficient to meet development needs, but the spirit of self-help is the primary support. The distribution of aid is relatively even; however, data verification still needs improvement. The program's responsiveness to local culture is relatively good, although administrative and legal constraints hinder the accuracy of the target. Social capital and community participation have proven to play a crucial role in the successful implementation of the program. These findings emphasize the importance of participatory and contextual approaches in housing policy and recommend replicating similar strategies in other regions with similar social characteristics
