    Enter, Spring

    For children's voices (SSA) and piano, duration 6 minutes. This piece sets two texts about the start of spring by William Blake and an anonymous source. It was commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society and Royal Philharmonic Society as part of the Royal Philharmonic Society Composer in the House scheme. The premiere was given on 6 July 2011 by the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir conducted by Simon Emery at the National Eisteddfod of Wales

    Elegy

    For brass band, duration 7 minutes. This work was commissioned in celebration of the 75th birthday of the distinguished wind band conductor Timothy Reynish. It was first performed on 1 February 2009 by the Desford Colliery Band conducted by Russell Gray, at the Royal Northern College of Music Festival of Brass.     For chamber ensemble, duration 19 minutes. Theatrum forms the third work in a trilogy for chamber ensemble entitled TRINITA, the other pieces being Circling Canopy of Night (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/204/) and Torturous Instruments (see https://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1488/). This piece was commissioned by the Tanglewood Music Centre with assistance given by the Fromm Foundation at Harvard. Originally completed in 1996, it was revised in 1999 and 2002. This piece was written for the London Contemporary Music Group and premiered by them, conducted by John Traill, on 5 November 2008 in Oxford. The ballet was choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and premiered on 12 February 2016 by the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House, London.
