For orchestra, duration 4 minutes. Commissioned by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for the opening of their 2007-2008 season. Premiered at Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, conducted by Vasily Petrenko. Netsuke (2001, rev. 2004)
For chamber ensemble, duration 15 minutes.
Netsuke was commissioned for the Endymion Ensemble by Hans Werner Henze, and was premiered on 31 March 2001 at the Purcell Room, London, conducted by Quentin Poole.
It has since been performed by Ensemble 10/10, Ensemble intercontemporain, and Continuum Ensemble.
Originally composed in 2000-2001, the piece was revised in 2004

For solo violin and chamber ensemble, duration 7 minutes.
This piece was premiered on 25 January 2004 by Peter Sheppard-Skaerved (violin) and the Continuum Ensemble conducted by Philip Headlam. Originally composed in 2003, it was revised in 2009.
