The Cyfarthfa Band was formed in Merthyr Tydfil, in South Wales. It was an ensemble of unparalleled virtuosity and musical diversity. The range of sources associated with it is particularly wide and informative. The processes used to reconstruct its repertoire, performance style, and practices are described, and general approaches are suggested that may inform further performances of the repertoire
