    Green Construction Education:A Comprehensive Literature Review and Future Directions

    This paper conducts a comprehensive review of existing research on green construction education, aiming to identify its future directions and then promote environmental sustain-ability in construction. Using bibliometric analysis and VOSviewer, this study examines 172 articles published between 2003 and 2023 in green construction education. The publication distribution, research themes, keyword trends, and future directions are provided. The find-ings indicate that while green construction education has been increasingly recognized and studied as a vital aspect of sustainable development, there are still significant gaps and op-portunities for further exploration. The critical areas for future research are identified, in-cluding the integration of green construction principles into existing curricula, education for industry professionals, and the adoption of an application-driven and life-cycle approach to promoting green construction education. This study underlines the necessity of green construction education in fostering a more sustainable construction industry and highlights potential pathways to enriching this rapidly. This is the first research to comprehensively review publications in green construction education, and the future directions for studying in this field are developed

    Empowering people affected by penile cancer:towards a model for supportive self-management

    Improvements in the quality of penile cancer management are difficult due to the rarity of the condition and a limited evidence base for treatment decisions. Penile cancer and some of its highly morbid treatments can cause profound psychosexual and physical effects that negatively impact quality of life. Multidisciplinary interventions are required to equip patients with the support necessary to manage their emotional, physical, work, and lifestyle challenges to optimize health, well-being, and recovery. This paper outlines a model of supported self-management, which is a novel model of care for people with penile cancer to mitigate disease and treatment morbidity.</p

    A protocol using mixed methods for the impact analysis of the implementation of the EMPOWER project:An eHealth intervention to promote mental health and well-being in European workplaces

    Introduction Mental health at the workplace has been identified as a major priority by the World Health Organization (WHO). Despite its significance, international studies examining the influence of digital mental health interventions on workplace implementation and outcomes are lacking. The European Platform to Promote Well-being and Health in the Workplace (EMPOWER) platform is an eHealth intervention consisting of a website and web-based app designed to guide employers and employees on the prevention of common health problems, reduce presenteeism and absenteeism in the workplace. The aim of this paper is to describe the rationale and methods that will be used to conduct a maxi impact analysis of the processes undertaken to develop and implement the EMPOWER platform in European workplaces using the Global Impact Analytics Framework (GIAF) methodology. Methods and analysis We will undertake a mixed-methods analysis of the impact of the process of implementation in the two phases of implementation (initiation and maturity - the early implementation phase). The primary methodology that will be used for the analysis is the GIAF and toolkit. The GIAF toolkit includes a taxonomy (knowledge map), glossary and checklists to examine and rate the EMPOWER project across various domains of impact: planning, pre-engagement, readiness, usability, dissemination, adoption and uptake. Information will be collected from a range of sources through different methods and used to rate the EMPOWER platform (website and app) on each domain. For reliability and validity, four raters will independently rate the EMPOWER platform using the same information. The analysis will include qualitative and quantitative methods to rate on standardised ladders and scales in the GIAF toolkit. Analysis will include descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests where relevant. The information gained will be reviewed in a subgroup (per country) and group (three country) analysis for formative and key summative learnings. These key learnings will be synthesised to generate organisational learnings and insights for the EMPOWER consortium to improve future intervention implementation processes. Ethics and dissemination The impact analysis study protocol has been approved by the Research Ethics Committees of the University of Canberra (ID:202311841) and also the Fundació Sant Joan de Déu (PIC-39-20). The participating countries for the RCT (EMPOWER study) also obtained ethical approval through their respective ethical organisations in the participating countries. The impact analysis is registered with the Open Science Framework ID osf.io/eysc9. The EMPOWER project trial is registered at ClinicalTrial.gov with trial ID NCT04907604. The outcomes of the impact analysis study will be disseminated via conference presentations, peer-reviewed journals and key organisational learnings presented in relevant forums.     Indonesian–Australian media during an infodemic:fostering trust and social resilience through translation as care

    The World Health Organisation (WHO) calls the proliferation of conflicting information during the COVID-19 pandemic an ‘infodemic’. To counter the infodemic experienced by diaspora communities, ethnic and multilingual media producers filled vital health communication gaps. This article focuses on the experiences of Indonesian–Australian media producers during this infodemic in Australia. Following semi-structured interviews with 10 Indonesian–Australian media producers, who recounted their experiences and practices supporting the information needs of Indonesian diaspora communities, we found that their translation of public health information extended beyond providing linguistically accessible and accurate information to the diasporic community. We propose the concept of ‘translation as care’. We suggest that translation practice can become an act of communal care during crises enabled by shared diaspora community identification and affective labour by Indonesian–Australian media producers. Translation as care addressed the gaps that Australian authorities could not adequately fill, fostering community trust and social resilience

    Transcriptomic signatures of host immune responses in aphthous ulcers, the earliest lesions of Crohn's disease, suggest that bacterial uptake, rather than global dysbiosis, is the initiating factor

    Crohn's disease is a chronic, transmural inflammatory disease of the human gut. Changes in the fecal microbial composition and dysbiosis are consistent features in studies of Crohn's disease patients, but whether dysbiosis is a cause or consequence of inflammation remains unresolved. Genetic susceptibility plays a role in the development of Crohn's disease and has been linked to genes involved in recognition of intestinal bacteria by the mononuclear phagocyte system. The earliest visible lesions in Crohn's disease are aphthous ulcers, overlying Peyer's patches and lymphoid follicles. To identify mechanisms underlying the earliest stages of disease we compared gene expression in aphthous ulcers, Peyer's patches, inflamed and endoscopically normal mucosa from patients and controls using total RNA-seq. The resulting data were subjected to network analysis to identify coregulated gene expression signatures of cell types and processes. These results were compared to single-cell RNA-seq analysis of intestinal macrophages in normal and diseased mucosa. The analysis of aphthous ulcers revealed signatures of epithelial stress and antimicrobial defense, plasma cell activation and immunoglobulin production, monocyte recruitment, inflammatory gene expression and induction of interferon-γ. These signatures were not present in the normal appearing mucosa adjacent to aphthous ulcers, which were similar to healthy control mucosa. Given the role of Peyer's patches and lymphoid follicles in sampling the luminal contents, these findings suggest the initial lesion in Crohn's disease arises from the uptake of bacteria and the activation of multiple host defense pathways rather than the breakdown of epithelial barrier integrity and widespread bacterial translocation.</p

    Integration of a multidimensional framework to measure the social impact of an information technology intervention from a human centered approach

    Current literature on the social impact of Information Technology (IT) is predominantly from an organizational perspective, aimed at improving IT use in workplace settings, which often fails to capture the overall experience of using IT through lived experiences. A systematic review was conducted to identify the existing frameworks that attempted to measure the social impact of IT. The inclusion criteria were (a) studies that conceptualized the social impact of IT and (b) studies with frameworks that measure the social impact of IT. Four theoretical and methodological approaches were chosen for critical analysis. While these frameworks offer rich insight into social impact assessment, each has its limitations and, thus, is not comprehensive enough to cover the phenomena holistically. Hence, this paper proposes a broad framework to measure the social impact of IT through integrating multiple approaches. Practical implications include guiding policymakers and practitioners in formulating bottom-up IT-related policies and interventions

    Enabling technologies for Web 3.0:A comprehensive survey

    Web 3.0 represents the next stage of Internet evolution, aiming to empower users with increased autonomy, efficiency, quality, security, and privacy. This evolution has the potential to democratize content access by leveraging advancements in cutting-edge enabling technologies. In this paper, we conduct an in-depth survey of enabling technologies in the context of Web 3.0, such as blockchain, semantic web, 3D interactive web, Metaverse, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and their roles in shaping Web 3.0. We commence by providing a comprehensive background of Web 3.0, including its concept, basic architecture, potential applications, and industry adoption. Subsequently, we examine recent breakthroughs in IoT, 5G, and blockchain technologies that are pivotal to Web 3.0 development. Following that, other enabling technologies, including AI, semantic web, and 3D interactive web, are discussed. Utilizing these technologies can effectively address the critical challenges in realizing Web 3.0, such as ensuring decentralized identity, platform interoperability, data transparency, reducing latency, and enhancing the system's scalability. Finally, we highlight significant challenges associated with Web 3.0 implementation, emphasizing potential solutions and providing insights into future research directions in this field.</p

    The Association Between the American Heart Association Life's Essential 8 and Metabolic Syndrome Among Postmenopausal Women:Findings from NHANES 2011-2020

    Background: Postmenopausal women face increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to hormone changes during menopause. Life's Essential 8 (LE8), a relatively new cardiovascular health assessment index by the American Heart Association, may impact MetS diagnostics and potential treatment strategies. This study investigated the association between LE8 and MetS among postmenopausal women. Methods: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data were extracted (2011-2020). LE8 comprised eight health behaviours and factors (score of 0-100) classified into low (0-49), moderate (50-79), and high (80-100) cardiovascular health status. MetS was defined as metabolic dysfunctions comprising insulin resistance, central obesity, dyslipidaemia, impaired glucose metabolism, and hypertension. Complex survey-adjusted regression models were used. Effect modification by race and female hormone use were investigated. Results: 5402 postmenopausal women were included (mean age: 63.0 y), and 3152 (58.3%) met MetS criteria. LE8 scores for those with and without MetS were 58 ± 13.8 and 70 ± 14.1 ( p &lt; 0.001), respectively (mean ± SD). Higher LE8 scores were associated with lower odds of having MetS (Odds ratio (OR) for a 10-score increase: 0.53, 95% CI: [0.48, 0.57], p &lt; 0.001). Nicotine exposure score was inversely associated with the likelihood of having MetS (0.52 [0.34, 0.80], p = 0.022). The association between LE8 status and odds of MetS differed by race ( p-interaction = 0.01); 'moderate' or 'high' cardiovascular health status lowered odds of MetS in all races except other/multi-racial. Conclusions: The inverse relationship between LE8 scores and MetS suggests that integrating LE8 components into management strategies may help prevent CVD in postmenopausal women. </p
