The Influence of Estrogen and Endocrine Disruptors on Male Reproduction.
Mammalian reproduction is a unique process that involves a series of precisely regulated events, including the production and maturation of gametes, fertilization, and both embryonic and postnatal development. The reproductive system is closely linked to the endocrine system, which regulates these physiological processes through hormones. A proper hormonal balance is crucial for successful reproduction. However, environmental substances known as endocrine disruptors (EDs) can mimic natural hormones and interfere with these processes. Our study focused on reproduction from the male perspective. The first aspect we investigated was capacitation, the maturation process of sperm necessary for acquiring the ability to fertilize an egg. We found that elevated levels of natural estrogen, specifically 17β-estradiol, in males lead to premature capacitation of sperm in the tail of the epididymis, which can negatively affect the sperm's ability to reach the egg at the right time. This phenomenon may represent one of the ways in which endocrine disruptors with estrogenic activity contribute to the increasing prevalence of fertility issues. Capacitation involves biochemical and molecular changes that can be monitored using various detection methods. Standardized assessment of capacitation is essential for..
Class Actions Funding
Class Actions Funding Abstract The thesis focuses generally on the possibilities of financing class actions and furthermore on the evaluation of the regulation adopted by the Czech legislator in the sense of Act No.179/2024 Coll., on class actions. The thesis focuses generally on the possibilities of financing class actions and furthermore on the evaluation of the regulation adopted by the Czech legislator in the sense of Act No, on collective civil proceedings, adopted as a result of the transposition obligation arising from Directive (EU) 2020/1828 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2020 on representative actions for the protection of consumers' collective interests. The aim of the paper is to highlight the different methods of financing collective proceedings, to present their positive benefits and possible risks, and to assess whether they are appropriate in terms of the effectiveness of the enforcement of collective rights. The thesis focuses on the purpose of collective proceedings in the context of collective rights protection and the terminological breakdown, which is further explored throughout the thesis. It describes phenomena associated with class actions, such as rational apathy of the injured party or diffuse harm. Next, the thesis discusses the different forms of..
Conflict of interest of a member of the governing body when representing a business corporation
Conflict of interest of a member of the governing body when representing a business corporation Abstract The thesis focuses on individual cases of conflict of interest of a governing body member in which the information obligation arises and on the manner of fulfilling this information obligation towards individual bodies in capital companies. To answer individual sub-questions of the thesis, the author analyses academic literature and case law of both lower and higher courts. In doing so, he points out several interpretative issues, the solution of which is not unambiguous even among the professional public. It first sets the topic in a broader context and then introduces individual cases of conflict of interest, which it systematically divides into general and specific conflicts of interest. In doing so, it highlights several cases where it is unclear whether the general or specific conflict of interest legislation should be applied. It deals with whether a legal person in which a member of the governing body of the business corporation also acts as a member of the governing body may be regarded as a close person of the member of the governing body of the business corporation. The author concludes that its solution differs depending on whether it is a case of general or specific conflict of interest. In..
Drama education as a tool to fix a positive climate in the classroom
This thesis focuses on the use of drama education as a tool to improve the classroom climate in primary school classrooms. The main goal of this thesis is to determine whether and how drama education can influence the classroom climate and contribute to its improvement, particularly in terms of social relationships, fostering cooperation, and creating a safe environment within the classroom. The theoretical part deals with the beginnings of drama education in our country and its development in education. It further addresses the definition of the term drama education, its goals, principles, and methods. It also focuses on the characteristics of classroom climate, factors affecting its quality, and current issues in classroom groups. The practical part of this thesis focuses on the implementation and reflection of a series of lessons employing methods and techniques of drama education, conducted in a fifth-grade class at a primary school. The aim was to observe students' reactions, monitor the dynamics of classroom relationships, and evaluate any changes in the perception of cooperation and classroom climate. The collected data indicate that drama education can be an effective tool for fostering more open communication, improving relationships among students, and strengthening the overall positive..
Body percussion in basic music education of children with mild mental disabilities
The thesis focuses on body percussion activities for children of younger school age with mild intellectual disabilities. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the characteristics of basic music education, musical activities in music classes, and the musical development of children in the younger school age group. Furthermore, it addresses the field of special education, specifically intellectual disabilities. The thesis discusses the education of children with mild intellectual disabilities and focuses on the specifics of music education for this group. It also presents suggestions for body percussion activities designed for younger school-aged children with mild intellectual disabilities and introduces additional possibilities for the use of body percussion in this context. The practical part of the thesis focuses on verifying a set of body percussion activities at an elementary school established under §16, paragraph 9 of the Education Act, with students with mild intellectual disabilities. During the implementation, the teacher examines the potential impact of body percussion on the development of students' musical skills, whether it positively influences social interaction among students during music classes, and how it contributes to improving the motor coordination of students with..
Study of poorly water soluble drugs release from polymeric nanospheres
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Technology Supervisor: PharmDr. Ondřej Holas, PhD. Consultant: Mgr. Barbora Boltnarová, Ph.D. Student: Sabina Klenová Title of thesis: Study of poorly water soluble drugs release from polymeric nanospheres Polymer nanoparticles represent a promising system for drug delivery, and the encapsulation of glucocorticoids, such as dexamethasone acetate, has the potential to improve their therapeutic efficacy. This diploma thesis focuses on optimizing the release of dexamethasone acetate from PLGA nanoparticles and analyzing the factors that influence its dissolution behavior. In this study, dissolution tests of PLGA nanoparticles and release studies of the drug solutions were conducted in various media (purified water, acetate buffer, phosphate buffer, and Pluronic F127) at different temperatures. These tests were supported by microscopic observations and thermal characterization. The results indicate that the dissolution of dexamethasone acetate from the nanoparticles was likely influenced by the crystallization of the released drug. The release studies of the pure drug in solution demonstrated a significant temperature effect on crystal formation and the release profile of dexamethasone acetate. pH was found..
Analysis of Human Biology Tasks in Lower-secondary Biology Textbooks
Textbooks play a crucial role in the context of the educational process, and their role in teaching is often determined by state policy. Textbooks consist of a number of components whose presence or absence determines a student's learning or motivation in the context of a particular subject. Textbooks also include learning tasks, the nature of which fundamentally moderates the process of thinking or perceiving science within science subjects. While human biology is part of the science curriculum for primary education, an analysis of specific types of learning tasks in science textbooks with respect to human biology has not yet been carried out. As part of the thesis, a literature search was conducted on textbook and learning task research. A total of 8 textbooks for primary school science used in primary schools in the Czech Republic were analysed. The analysis was carried out according to the revised Bloom's taxonomy. The analysis of the cognitive demands placed on students revealed in all analyzed textbooks their major orientation towards lower-order cognitive operations such as memorization and comprehension. The demands placed on pupils in the knowledge dimension are primarily oriented towards facts and concepts. The most commonly used task types are tasks aimed at remembering facts,..
