How Sir Harold Jeffreys would create a belief function based on data
Not all normalized nonnegative monotone set functions are belief functions. This paper investigates ways to modify them to obtain a belief function that preserves some of their properties. The problem is motivated by an approach to data-based learning of belief function models. The approach is based on the idea that classical methods of mathematical statistics can provide estimates of lower bounds for unknown probabilities. Thus, methods of mathematical statistics can be used to obtain a reasonable rough estimate, which is further elaborated to obtain a desired belief function model
Determining the minimum shelf life from the point of view of sensory quality
This thesis deals with theme of beer and its sensory quality, focusing in detail on its ageing, the changes in organoleptic properties associated with ageing and sim-ultaneously the development of beer foam stability over time. The thesis is divided into two main parts - an introductory literature research, introducing the whole issue, and the methodology, respectively a practical part. In the second part, there is a detailed description of the process of sensory evaluation of packaged beer in an industrial brewery and the evaluation of the consumers' subjective impression of given beer that had been stored for various lengths of time. Along with that, the results of measured times at which fall of beer foam happened are mentioned. All along four types of beer in total were observed - pale non-alcoholic, draft light beer and two types of pale lager, different in an alcohol content - with 4,6 % vol. and the other one with 5 % vol
Variability and responce of the northern firmoss (Huperzia selago) sporophyte to different environmental light conditions
Huperzia selago is a lycophyte species of the Lycopodiaceae family. It is characterised by a high degree of variability in sporophyte morphological traits such as overall colouration, the angle of the microphylls to the stem and variability in the production of spores and vegetative bulbils (gemmae). Consequently, the morphological definition presented in the literature cannot be applied clearly to distinguish species within the genus from each other. The conflict between the morphological definition presented in the literature and reality is particularly evident in the overall colouration, which is described as green, but in reality it is possible to find both green and yellow plants within the same population. Plants usually reflect the amount of incident light and the amount of available nutrients by changing the colour of their leaves by changing the concentration of chlorophyll in the leaves. It can therefore be assumed that these two factors could have a significant influence on the colouration and possibly other morphological characters of H. selago. Experimental cultivation of these plants under controlled environmental conditions has shown that the variation in colouration can be quantified and explained by environmental light conditions. Plants in a shaded habitat has a green colouration, whereas those exposed to high levels of irradiance, causing light stress, acclimatise with a reduction in chlorophyll concentration, which eventually results in a lighter green to yellow colouration
Is self-awareness in animals tied only to mirror tests?
This bachelor's thesis explores the possibility of reconstructing the subjective experience of non-human organisms. It begins by analyzing three paradigmatic approaches to the study of animal consciousness: the Theory-heavy approach, grounded in structural properties of the central nervous system and a rigid theoretical framework; the Theory-neutral approach, which aims to fully separate human and animal models of consciousness; and the Theory-light approach, based on the so-called facilitation hypothesis. These approaches are then evaluated within the context of the scientific discourse on consciousness through the lens of cultural evolution. The thesis continues with a brief introduction to the processual paradigm of theoretical biology and discusses the replication crisis in science, along with various interpretations of replicability. Based on these theoretical chapters, the thesis proposes a possible methodological framework for reconstructing the subjective experience of any non-human organism, which constitutes the main contribution of the work
Activation Activities in Nursing Homes
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of activation activities in homes for the elderly, which are an integral part of the complex care for the clients of these facilities. The aim of the thesis was to find out how these activities are implemented in practice, what forms, methods, techniques, concepts and models are used, what tools and material facilities are available, how funding is provided and what role the staff, especially activation and social workers, play in the whole process. A secondary objective was to explore the perceived benefits of activation activities from the perspective of these workers. The research part was carried out qualitatively through semi-structured interviews with four activation and four social workers from homes for the elderly in the selected region. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis and open coding to reveal recurring patterns and themes. The results show that activation activities significantly contribute to improving the quality of life of elderly residents. They support their independence, cognitive and motor abilities, increase motivation, improve psychological well-being, and reduce feelings of loneliness. Moreover, they strengthen social relationships and help clients overcome adaptation difficulties when entering the facility. A close and trusting relationship between staff and client was also found to play a key role in encouraging participation. The findings further indicate that essential factors for successful implementation include an individualised approach, interdisciplinary teamwork, systematic planning, and sufficient material and financial support. Activation activities should be incorporated into everyday care with emphasis on respect, meaningfulness, and the active involvement of seniors
Optimization of IT Project Management Processes Using Artificial Intelligence Tool
The master thesis focuses on the optimization of IT project management processes using artificial intelligence, specifically the adoption of Microsoft 365 Copilot, in the project office of the APPS division of Aricoma. The thesis analyses current project management, identifies areas with a high proportion of routine activities and proposes solutions to increase the efficiency of project managers, reduce their administrative burden and support decision-making processes. The analytical part provides an overview of current project processes as well as an overview of artificial intelligence tools suitable for project management. The design part contains specific recommendations for optimizing the analyzed project processes by adopting the Microsoft 365 Copilot tool
Design of a duckweed cultivation device
This bachelor thesis deals with the characteristics of duckweed (Lemna minor) and the design of a semi-automated system for its vertical cultivation. The introductory part presents the different species of duckweed and its properties. Then the main factors affecting the growth of the plant and the available cultivation methods are summarised. The following chapter discusses the potential applications of duckweed biomass in agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, biofuel production and nutrient recycling from wastewater. Based on the findings, the design of a multi-storey device with controlled lighting, water flow control and automatic harvesting was developed. Harvesting is mediated by a water stream that is controlled by an electronic valve. This valve was developed as a custom solution in an effort to reduce the cost of the system. The system is controlled by a custom-designed board that allows parameter settings via a web interface without the need for code compilation. As part of the project, the main section of the proposed structure was physically assembled and tested together with one cultivation level, including the valve, water distribution system, and lighting. The functionality of the pump, flow system, power supply, and web-based control interface was successfully verified. The results of this work can serve as a basis for further research in the field of sustainable plant biomass cultivation in controlled environments
Prediction Model Quality Analysis
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of the quality of a prediction model in the field of photovoltaic energy, which is part of a real company project. The thesis deals with the relationship between the predictions and other variables (temperature and wind speed). Subsequently, graphical visualizations and calculations of the necessary metrics are made to draw the correct conclusions. On the basis of the processed analysis and finding of all necessary conclusions, a final summary of the quality of the prediction model is formulated and suggestions for possible improvement of the model are specified

The bachelor thesis focuses on making RPA robots in order to speed up the process of testing the application of the chosen company. In the first part of the thesis, we will look at the theoretical background in order to have a sufficient understanding of the problem at hand. In the second part of the thesis, we will look at the current position of the selected company in the industry and look for opportunities for our proposed solution. In the last part of the thesis we will look at the process of preparing a project for robots, the actual implementation of the robots and the benefits of the project for the company
