The practical part is dedicated to the development of an investment plan including an economic evaluation, based on which the long-term feasibility of the investment is assessed

    State-of-the-art methods for optimizing the operation of production lines

    This thesis focuses on the issue of optimizing production line operations using contemporary methods. The theoretical part provides an overview of modern approaches employed in the optimization of production processes. The practical section addresses the modeling of a production line within the Simulink graphical environment of MATLAB and the implementation of optimization algorithms. The model production system incorporates two key logistical resources, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and warehouse workers, both are responsible for transport between individual workstations. The objective of all algorithms is to determine the optimal number of logistical resources in order to maximize their utilization while ensuring uninterrupted operation of the production line. The optimization algorithms are deployed using the computational power of the CESNET supercomputer and have been adapted to meet the specific requirements of this computing environment. For the optimization process, a genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization (PSO), and a hybrid algorithm combining the strengths of both methods are used. The results indicate that the hybrid approach demonstrates high efficiency in both global exploration and local exploitation of the solution space, thereby confirming its contribution to the optimization of manufacturing processes

    Quantum Resistant VPN

    This thesis deals with the standardization of post-quantum cryptography and its implementation in selected network and link layer tools. The thesis describes post-quantum algorithms that have been approved within the NIST standardization process. Subsequently, the IPsec and~MACsec security schemes are presented. In the next section, the available libraries are mapped and tools supporting approved post-quantum algorithms. Finally, the quantum-safe connections using both IPsec and MACsec approaches are implemented. A comparison of post-quantum schemes with current cryptographic algorithms based on elliptic curve or asymmetric cryptography is made in the context of IPsec connections

    Analysis of combustion accelerators by GC-MS and SPME methods

    This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the development and optimization of a method for detecting the composition of technical gasoline. Gasoline and gasoline–based products from various manufacturers were examined. The aim was to establish a suitable methodology for detecting accelerants in the context of criminal activity. In the experimental part, analytical methods such as GC – FID in splitless/headspace mode and GC – MS were tested. The results showed that technical gasolines have differing compositions, and gasoline–based products contain additives to enhance their properties. The composition of individual components depends on the manufacturer; therefore, it is necessary to compare chromatograms with standards specific to each producer, which could potentially indicate the source of ignition. Characteristic peaks may serve as a direct indicator of the ignition source without the need to analyze the entire mixture

    Laney's control charts

    The Laney p'-control chart addresses the limitations of traditional p-charts by adding an adjustment factor, which can reflect true process variability more effectively to enable better monitoring of real-world processes under overdispersion or underdispersion. This study compares the performance of traditional p-charts with Laney p'-charts under real-life scenarios through Monte Carlo simulations. Key parameters such as sample size, number of samples, and probabilities of defects were varied across different scenarios—including stable processes, isolated disturbances, gradual trends, and both periodic and singular cyclical disruptions. The ability of each chart to detect the true process shifts (true-positive probability) vs. false alarms (false-positive probability) was then measured using Western Electric rules. Results showed that traditional p-chart performed efficiently under nearly ideal binomial conditions, i.e., in detecting isolated disturbances. In contrast, Laney’s p'-charts charts performed better in scenarios exhibiting significant overdispersion, particularly in detecting trends and cyclical disturbances. This thesis highlights the importance of selecting appropriate control chart types depending on the nature of the process, suggesting Laney’s approach combined with Western Electric rules for process monitoring under real conditions

    Aerodynamic design and optimalization of a Formula Student vehicle side wing structure

    This thesis focuses on the design of side floors for a Formula Student race car. The side floors are one of the aerodynamic components of the car. The downforce they generate has a positive effect on the maximum lateral force that the tires can transmit to the road surface, thus significantly improving lap times. The current design process requires a high degree of manual effort to create individual geometry variants. This thesis employs CFD simulations combined with the gradient-based adjoint optimization method for the aerodynamic design. Several geometry versions were proposed, and the best-performing side floor geometry was subsequently integrated into the full Formula Student race car

    Preparation of project documentation consisting of documentation for building permits, documentation for construction and design of architectural details is the subject of the bachelor's thesis. The thesis is based on an architectural study prepared as part of the studio production of the BGA021 course. The subject of the bachelor's thesis is to design a new production, presentation and administrative building for a new cider making and canning company. The existing agricultural land is presently unused. The proposed facility is located on the outskirts of the village of Víchov, on a gently sloping site. It is the former site of an agricultural cooperative. Emphasis has been placed on practicality and functionality of operations to meet the needs of modern production processes in the design of the building. Special attention was paid to presenting the building and the company from the main road. In accordance with the investor's wishes, the design is located in the western part of the site. The investor's surrounding land is intended for the future construction of storage and production halls. The Víchov Brickyard and Cannery consists of two buildings. Administration, accommodation, catering and sale of products will be located in the first two-storey building. The ground floor of the building is dominated by a central part with an entrance hall, a reception area and sanitary facilities. This creates an attractive entrance area and also serves as a showroom. This building is proposed to have an extensive green roof. The second building is a two-storey production hall located in the northern part of the site and is used for manufacturing and storing products. On the second floor, these buildings are connected internally by a neck. Changing rooms and sanitary facilities are located on the second floor of the production hall. The main expression of the hall building is the grey roofs. The buildings are located one behind the other on a gently sloping site and are connected by roads. A new road and a new car park will be built in the area. In the eastern part, there is a handling area to make importing and exporting easier. The proposal addresses both the stand-alone building and the connection to the adjacent neighbourhood

    Design of a Microcogeneration Unit

    Diploma thesis deals with the design and simulation of a micro-cogeneration unit powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) with an electrical output of up to 50 kW. Based on the available operating data, two mathematical models were created in the GT-Suite programme, which were used to analyze the operating parameters of the internal combustion engine 1.4 TSI G-TEC at specified operating speed. The simulation results were used to pre-select the generator, exhaust gas exchanger and plate heat exchanger. Subsequently, a structural design of the microcogeneration unit was developed in the Creo Parametric environment with an emphasis on the spatial arrangement, mounting of the engine and generator and their mutual connection using clutches. The design also included a design of a piping system for the distribution of heated water and connection to individual exchangers. At the end of the work , based on the simulation models and the overall efficiency of the designed unit was calculated

    Effect of data acquisition and processing method on fMRI reliability

    This diploma thesis investigates the impact of data acquisition and processing methods on the reliability of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). It provides an overview of the principles of fMRI and the techniques used for fMRI signal measurement, including single-echo and multi-echo methods, and evaluates their influence on results reliability. A significant part of the thesis focuses on data preprocessing methods to eliminate artifacts and enhance statistical analyses using MATLAB-based tools. Metrics for assessing data reliability are presented, and finally, selected metrics are tested on data from repeated measurements obtained at the Multimodal and Functional Imaging Laboratory at CEITEC Masaryk University
