Identification and work with the gifted in German language lessons at grammar schools

    No full text
The diploma thesis addresses the issue of identifying and working with gifted students in the context of German language education at grammar schools. The aim of the thesis is to analyze how these students are recognized and how teachers work with them in everyday school practice. The theoretical part defines the concept of giftedness, describes the characteristic traits of linguistically gifted students, and focuses on methods of their identification and education. Considerable attention is devoted to the potential challenges associated with identifying and educating gifted students. The theoretical framework is based on a multidimensional approach to giftedness and takes into account the specific features of language-related giftedness. It draws primarily on the publications of Lenka Hříbková (2009), Šárka Portešová (2021), and Monika Stehlíková (2016, 2018). The empirical part of the thesis is based on qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with German language teachers at grammar schools. The interviews were analyzed in order to uncover how teachers perceive and identify gifted students, which strategies they use to support them, what obstacles they encounter in practice, and how the situation could be improved. The findings of the empirical part are compared with theoretical..

Vector autoregression for count time series

The thesis extends the univariate Poisson INGARCH model to the bivari- ate BINGARCH(1, 1) framework. Three constructions of the bivariate Pois- son distribution are presented, two of which admit negative covariance, and a necessary and sufficient condition is derived to ensure that the probability mass function is properly defined. Closed-form expressions for the moments of the BINGARCH(1, 1) model are obtained. Parameters are estimated with the help of (quasi-)maximum likelihood method, and their properties are as- sessed through a simulation study implemented in the R programming language.

This diploma thesis explores the integration of drama education methods and techniques into the teaching of the Czech language at the primary school level, specifically in the fourth grade. The target group consisted of pupils with special educational needs at on of the primary schools. The aim of the thesis was to investigate whether drama education in Czech language lessons can support and positively influence the learning of these pupils in various areas and improve their educational outcomes. Data collection was conducted through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews and analysis of pupils written texts which were created during the research. The thesis id divided into two parts. The theoretical part provides fundamental information about drama education and the Czech language curriculum for the fourth grade of primary school, including their anchoring in the Framework Educational Programme. It also describes the basic characteristic of younger school-age children as one of the life stages, and concludes with a overview of education for pupils with special educational needs. The practical part describes the implemented Czech language lessons. These descriptions include lesson plan with objectives and instructions, detailed reflextions, and responses to selected pupils with special..

This thesis explores the local resistance to a planned wind farm project in a municipality in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) and examines how residents' attitudes toward the project evolved over time. The research is based on a qualitative methodology combining ethnographic fieldwork, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and media discourse analysis. The case is framed within the broader context of environmental anthropology, infrastructure studies, and political ecology. This study seeks to contribute to the understanding of the local impacts of centrally governed green transitions and expands current knowledge by focusing on a post-socialist, industrially and economically burdened region in Central Europe. It emphasize the need for a more just and democratic shift toward renewable energy-one that takes into account local communities and respects historical and cultural specificities

Title: The relationship between FC Barcelona's financial situation and its sporting performance Objective: The main objective of my bachelor's thesis is to analyze the impact of the financial situation and certain financial problems of FC Barcelona on its sporting performance and results. Using linear regression, the goal is to determine whether the club's sporting results over several years are dependent on its financial situation. Methods: The thesis used quantitative data based on the financial statements of FC Barcelona over a span of 10 seasons. A horizontal analysis was conducted on total revenues, short-term and long-term liabilities, post-tax profit, current assets, and wages. Sporting results were also analyzed. All of the mentioned indicators, except for post-tax profit and sporting performance, were log-transformed to be used in regression models and to help confirm or refute the main objective of the thesis. Results: The horizontal analysis suggested that a relationship between the club's financial situation and its sporting performance may exist. This was confirmed in the regression models. The regression models further clarified that among the analyzed indicators, long-term liabilities have the greatest impact on sporting performance. Keywords: football, finance, sport performance,..

Genres of Resilience of Young Adult Ukrainians Living in the Czech Republic with Relatives in War Zones

    No full text
This thesis focuses on the narrative construction of resilience in young adult Ukrainians who left Ukraine due to the war and are currently living, studying, and working in the Czech Republic, while their loved ones remain in war zones. The aim of the research is to understand how these individuals narrate their experiences of coping with extreme adversity, how resilience is constructed within their autobiographical narratives, and how it becomes integrated into their narrative identity. A secondary aim is to identify the "genres of resilience" and the meaning- making strategies embedded in their storytelling. The data were collected through semi- structured narrative interviews with seven respondents (aged 19-28) and analyzed using a combination of core narrative analysis, structural analysis according to Labov and Riessman, and thematic-meaning pattern analysis following D. P. McAdams' approach. The research process is grounded in the principle of double hermeneutics and reflects the co-construction of meaning between researcher and participant. The results show that all respondents' narratives are coherent, reflective, and meaningful. Redemption, growth, and communion sequences repeatedly emerge across the stories. Resilience is constructed as a dynamic, meaning-making process interwoven with..

Navigating Turbulent Times: A Microhistory of a Multilingual Small Town in Mid-20th Century Slovakia Tereza Juhászová Dissertation Thesis: Abstract Abstract This dissertation is a microhistorical analysis of ordinary life in an intimate community across the ruptures of mid-twentieth-century Central Europe. It uses the small multilingual town of Nižný Medzev in eastern Slovakia as a lens to explore communal relations amidst macrohistorical upheavals, emphasizing the fluidity of time and the varied experiences of change. Inhabited by German, Hungarian, Slovak, and Romani speakers, the town's residents navigated shifts in state structures and policies-decreed from above but enacted by local actors. Focusing on key everyday spaces-the school, church, factory, fields, and an inn-this study highlights the role of individuals in shaping, restructuring, and stabilizing their community across political ruptures. It argues that in a linguistically diverse setting, language and nationality were not always the decisive factors in determining social cleavages or alliances, even during periods of profound change. Instead, personal ties, social networks, and political affiliations proved more influential in configuring local dynamics. Spanning the 1930s to the late 1960s, the dissertation anchors its periodization in the..

Euclidean Concepts in a Projective Framework

    No full text
This work aims to characterize at first glance purely Euclidean concepts using pro- jective invariants. It is intended for readers who are familiar with the very basics of projective and analytic geometry in the plane (homogeneous coordinates, duality, matrix representation of conic sections). Geometric properties and concepts, which in the Eu- clidean plane are usually formulated using distance or angle sizes, are formulated in the language of projective geometry, most often using the cross-ratio. The first chapter is focused on reminding the basic concepts of projective geometry, in particular, these are the concepts: homogeneous coordinates, real projective plane, cross-ratio, conic sections, tangent and polar with respect to a conic section. The basic computational apparatus is also derived here, which is used extensively throughout the work. Each of the following chapters already discusses one of the concepts of Euclidean plane geometry, namely, these are: center of a circle, deviation of lines, perpendicularity, mirror image, angle bisectors and foci of regular conics

The bachelor thesis entitled Comparison of selected Czech and German political parties with an eurosceptic stance towards the European Union in 2021-2024 focuses on a comparative analysis of election program brochures of two political parties: the German Alternative for Germany (Alternative für Deutschland, AfD) and the Czech Freedom and Direct Democracy (Svoboda a přímá demokracie, SPD). The thesis is based on a qualitative analysis of four publicly available election programs, examining the main reasons behind the critical stance of both political parties towards the European Union, its policies, and European integration. The first part presents the significance of the European Union for its member states from both political and economic perspectives. It outlines the concept of national sovereignty and explores the powers of member states in the context of deepening integration. Both political parties are introduced within the framework of the political spectrum, historical background, and the election results of 2021 and 2024. The second part focuses on concrete findings in the context of EU criticism and analyzes four main groups of reasons: autonomy, security, culture, and changes in the economic space including national currency. The comparison includes the main program objectives, ideological..
