Feedback on supervision and working with it
This thesis explores how supervisors perceive, obtain, and process feedback within the context of the supervision process, and how this feedback influences their professional development. The aim of the research was to understand the role feedback plays in the professional identity of supervisors, the ways they capture it, and how they further work with it. The study is grounded in a conceptualization of feedback as a relational, embodied, and reflective process that goes beyond a one-time exchange of information. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with seven supervisors working in helping professions. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis based on the six phases outlined by Braun and Clarke. The research identified five main thematic areas: feedback as an orientation tool during sessions, the significance of the supervisory relationship, reflective strategies for working with mistakes, the role of bodily perception, and professional development through feedback. The findings show that supervisors receive feedback not only explicitly but often through non- verbal cues, group atmosphere, or bodily sensations. Processing feedback involves personal reflection, peer supervision, or meta-supervision. Feedback is seen as a learning tool that enhances self-awareness,..
The legal standing and protection of victims of sexual offenses
The legal standing and protection of victims of sexual offenses Abstract This thesis deals with the analysis of the protection and status of victims of sexual crimes within the Czech legal system. It focuses on the examination of current legislation, identifying areas with potential for improvement and proposing possible de lege ferenda changes. Considering the complexity of the issue, the thesis also addresses psychological and social aspects, such as the impact of the crime on the victim's psyche, secondary victimization, and persistent stereotypes that may influence both public opinion and the victims' decisions whether to report the crime. The first part of the thesis defines basic concepts such as victim, injured party, vulnerable victim, and clarifies the differences between them. It also introduces victimology as a scientific discipline dealing with victims and its various theoretical approaches. The second part focuses on different forms of victimization, specifically primary, secondary, tertiary, and revictimization. This section further describes some widespread myths about victims of sexual crimes, which often lead to minimizing the seriousness of the offense and questioning the credibility of victims by both the general public and professionals. The third part analyzes the specific legal..
Using Combination of Static Program Analysis Techniques for Program Comprehension of Large Systems
Program comprehension is a complex endeavor that consumes more than half of de- velopers' time and contributes to work fragmentation. Although various tools tackle program comprehension tasks using static program analysis techniques, developers rarely use them because the provided information is either too general or not detailed enough. This thesis addresses these shortcomings by presenting the Understandability Frame- work, a set of principles and implementation guidelines for creating development tools and integrating them into the software development process. The framework recommends building program comprehension tools as sets of reusable components that developers can customize and combine to suit the project's specific needs. Produced tools can reach suf- ficient precision by combining static program analysis techniques of different scalability, such as data-flow analysis and symbolic execution. An experimental implementation of the framework and its usage on an industrial system show that the presented approach can substantially contribute to the efficiency of the development process.
Integration Social Enterprises of non-governmental non-profit organizations according to Kim Alter typology
The thesis focuses on social entrepreneurship as a possible economic and social activity of non- governmental non-profit organizations. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part defines the non-profit sector, the area of social economy and further introduces social entrepreneurship and social enterprises both abroad and in the Czech Republic. Attention is paid to the specifics of social entrepreneurship in the Czech environment, in terms of the form and distinguishing features of a social enterprise, financing and legal aspects. The thesis focuses more closely on the area of social enterprises established by non- profit organizations. The theoretical part also presents Kim Alter's typology of social enterprises, which identifies three types of social enterprises based on their relationship with the parent non-profit organization. The empirical part of the thesis presents research into the relationship between these entities - a non-profit organization and its social enterprise or its social enterprises. Through the study of documents and thematic analysis, the connection of selected Prague social enterprises with their parent non-profit organizations was examined. In the first phase of the research, non-profit organizations and social enterprises were..
Ground-based and satellite observation of electromagnetic emissions associated with thunderstorm activity
This doctoral thesis focuses on the key stages of lightning development, primarily using ground-based measurements of the electromagnetic radiation from atmospheric discharges by the broadband magnetic field sensors SLAVIA (Shielded Loop Antenna with a Versatile Integrated Amplifier). These observations were complemented by data provided by additional instruments, including the Lightning Mapping Array SAETTA (Suivi de l'Activité Electrique Tridimensionnelle Totale de l'Atmosphere) and lightning location networks METEORAGE, EUCLID (European Cooperation for Lightning Detection), and WWLLN (World Wide Lightning Location Network). Optical data from the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) aboard the International Space Station were also utilized for specific analyses. The results of this research highlight optical signatures and electromagnetic properties of the preliminary breakdown stage, demonstrating that lightning initiation can be optically observed from space. Additionally, this thesis work examines varying electromagnetic signatures received immediately after the first return stroke, distinctly differentiating between negative and positive cloud-to-ground flashes. This analysis reveals that the post-return stroke period involves recharging of an in-cloud leader with opposite polarity, thereby..
Consequences of the change of the merits of the offence of rape
Consequences of the change of the merits of the offence of rape Abstract This thesis explores the potential consequences of the change of the Czech legal definition of the offence of rape on victims as well as on the whole society. The aim of the thesis is to present the international context within Europe, to describe historical development of the merits of the offence of rape in detail and reasons that led to the legislative change, and most importantly, to focus on the question whether and how the redefinition may affect victims of sexual violence. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter examines the influence of the European Union and the Istanbul Convention on Czech definition. It also includes a detailed comparative analysis of the legal definition of rape in Slovakia, Germany, Sweden, and Spain. The second chapter outlines the development of the merits of the offence of rape from the establishment of Czechoslovakia to its current version effective as of 1 January 2025. It also addresses the newly codified definition of "incapacity" under Section 119a of the Criminal Code, related legal terms, and other affected sexual offences. The third chapter discusses the key reasons for the change, including the phenomenon of "freeze response" (a situation in which a victim is unable to..
Problematic aspects of participation in a crime
1 Abstract The submitted thesis provides the reader with an analysis of problematic aspects of participation. It concerns a complex legal institution, which, along with concurrence of offences, is considered one of the most complicated issues of substantive criminal law. The aim of this thesis is to focus on the problematic aspects of this institution. The thesis concentrates on issues arising from the applicable legislation, the application practice, and the interpretation of legal provisions. An analysis of this complex criminal law institution can hardly be carried out without theoretical foundations, clarification of terminology, and at least a brief outline of the historical context that shaped this institution and led to the adoption of the current regulation. The first part of the thesis defines concepts related to criminal cooperation and participation, discussing them as concepts in both the narrow and broader sense, and also addresses the notions of obligatory and eventual participation, with this thesis focusing on eventual participation. The second part of the thesis is devoted to theoretical approaches to criminal cooperation. It first deals with the concept of the perpetrator in both its narrow and broader understanding. The chapter "The perpetrator and criminal cooperation according to the..
Quasi-coercive treatment - an adequate obligation in the context of a suspended sentence
Quasi-coercive treatment - an adequate obligation in the context of a suspended sentence Abstract This thesis deals with a quasi-coercive treatment, which in the context of Czech law constitutes an adequate obligation pursuant to Section 48 (4) (c) of the Czech Criminal Code. Specifically, it examines this measure when imposed together with a suspended sentence. The thesis defines the theoretical framework of this measure, analyses the frequency of its imposition in recent years, and identifies application barriers that hinder its broader use. Based on the identified obstacles, I then offer recommendations on how these obstacles can be eliminated or minimized in the future. To solve the theoretical part, I predominantly used a descriptive method, which aims to describe findings in a specific area. The chapter dealing with the frequency of quasi-coercive treatment imposed in addition to a suspended sentence is based on existing data (from information system CSLAV), which were subjected to descriptive analysis. The data for the empirical part were obtained by conducting semi-structured interviews. Data obtained this way were then analyzed by the method of simple enumeration, clustering and pattern recognition. Subsequently the data were interpreted and confronted in a discussion with information from the..
Hazard Assessment and Typology of Cascade-Arranged Glacial Lakes in High Mountain Regions
Glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) represent one of the most acute natural hazards in glacierized mountain environments, with increasing relevance as cryospheric systems respond to accelerated global warming. Traditionally, hazard assessments have focused on individual glacial lakes, evaluated through static morphometric indicators. However, such approaches often overlook the broader spatial and hydrological dynamics in which glacial lakes evolve4particularly in cascade systems where multiple lakes are aligned along the same drainage path. This dissertation addresses this analytical gap by exploring the physical, geomorphic, and systemic dimensions of glacial lake hazard, with a special focus on cascade-arranged lake systems. The research is structured as a cumulative dissertation and consists of five peer-reviewed studies conducted in four distinct high mountain regions: the Himalayas, Andes, Canadian Cordillera, and the St. Elias Mountains. Paper I presents a detailed hazard assessment of Imja Lake (Nepal), based on field-based moraine surveys, satellite remote sensing, and DEM differencing. It highlights the interaction of lake expansion, slope instability, and dead-ice subsidence, and shows that hazard in moraine-dammed lakes is inherently multi-causal and cannot be evaluated through a..
