Comparison of the main heroines of the novels Chaireas and Callirhoe and The Story of Apollonius, The King of Tyre
No full textThis bachelor's thesis focuses on comparative analysis of the character Callirhoe from Chariton's novel Callirhoe with the characters of Apollonius's nameless wife and his daughter Tharsia from the novel Apollonius of Tyre. The first part outlines the historical context of women's status in the Hellenistic and Roman period, followed by the characteristic features of the ancient Greek novel and then introduces both analyzed works in detail. The second part focuses on analysing the individual protagonists, examining their character traits, social status, romantic relationships and other key aspects. The third part provides a comparative study of the heroines, identifying both their shared traits and differences. While Callirhoe's story is dominated by beauty and passionate love, Apollonius of Tyre emphasizes the importance of education for its female protagonists. The aim of the thesis is to determine, based on a case study of the international space arms control regime, whether contemporary international space order correlates with the notion of American hegemony, and if so, to what extent. The thesis contains a discursive analysis of the narratives connected with a critical analysis of institutions, with a secondary objective of finding out why discussions on space arms control are deadlocked and which actors benefit from this status quo. The expected contribution of the thesis is a balanced critique of mainstream narratives that support and legitimize the transformation of outer space designation from a domain that should be used for the the benefit and in the interests of all countries, irrespective of their degree of economic or scientific development, as stated in Article I of the Outer Space Treaty, into a new military operational domain. Muzeum Českého krasu and its educational activities for schools
No full textThis thesis focuses on the educational activities of Muzeum Českého krasu specifically those intended for schools. The museum, which is founded by the Central Bohemian Region, is a regional institution with a long-standing tradition dating back to the end of the 19th century. Its influence extends approximately within a radius of 30 km from Beroun and includes the area of the Český kras, part of Křivoklátsko, and northern Podbrdy. In addition to the main building on Husovo náměstí, the museum also manages the Barrandien geopark, an exhibition in Plzeňská brána and two branches in Žebrák and Hořovice. The work focuses on a systematic analysis of the educational programs offered by the museum and examines how regional institutions of this type contribute to informal education in their areas of operation. The main research questions are: What educational programs for schools does the museum offer (in terms of thematic focus, relation to the school curriculum, recommended age, venue, cost, and time requirements) and what is their relationship with schools in the region? The theoretical part of the thesis first addresses the historical development of the museum itself and provides a general characterization of its exhibition activities. Scouting in the years 1945-1948
No full textThe subject of this bachelor's thesis is a reflection on the development of the scouting organization in the context of the years 1945-1948. It examines the differences between pre-war and post-war scouting, focusing primarily on changes in the mindset of organization members and the penetration of communist ideology. Based on this, it explores the relationships and interventions of the Union of Czech Youth, the issues surrounding scouting and religion, and, last but not least, the relationship between Junák and Sokol. The aim is also to investigate scouts who were members of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the impact their thinking and actions had on the scouting organization as a whole. The bachelor's thesis also provides an external perspective on Junák, particularly through the visits of Lady Olave Baden-Powell and the director of the International Scout Bureau, John S. Wilson. No full textEmployee stock option plans (ESOPs) represent a key instrument for attracting, motivating, and retaining highly qualified talent, particularly within innovation-driven startups as they do not dispose with sufficient proceeds to compete with established corporations in the realm of traditional cash-based remuneration. Globally, jurisdictions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Estonia have introduced comprehensive legal frameworks that facilitate the efficient implementation of ESOPs and actively promote their use as a driver of economic growth and technological innovation. By contrast, the Czech Republic continues to face significant legislative, administrative, and tax-related challenges that have hindered the development of a competitive employee equity environment. This thesis provides an in-depth analysis of ESOPs from legal, corporate governance, and tax perspectives, combining doctrinal research with a comparative study of foreign frameworks. No full textThe aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse the employee benefits provided to medical staff in university hospitals in the Czech Republic. Firstly, university hospitals and medical staff are defined. Subsequently, attention is paid to the issue of reward management and its elements with a focus on the environment of university hospitals, types of employee benefits and their legislative anchoring. The offer of employee benefits provided to medical staff in university hospitals in the Czech Republic and current trends in this area are characterised. The aim of the qualitative research is to analyse the offer of employee benefits provided to medical staff in university hospitals in the Czech Republic. A sub-objective of the survey is to identify trends in employee benefits, including the use of artificial intelligence from the perspective of HR staff in FH. The investigation is carried out by interview method with twelve HR staff of university hospitals. The interviews were based on internal materials of the hospitals and publicly available sources. Divergent Interpretations of Physiological Birth in the Czech Republic in an Anthropological Context
No full textThis dissertation explores the conceptualization of "normal", "physiological", and "natural" birth within Czech obstetric practice. Based on an analysis of interviews with healthcare professionals - obstetricians, hospital midwives, and community midwives, it examines how these concepts are understood, constructed, and how they influence clinical decision-making. The study distinguishes between two discursive approaches: the discourse of accompanying birth, emphasizing women's autonomy and the support of neurohormonal processes, and the discourse of managing birth, highlighting technological control and preventive interventions. The theoretical framework is based on previously published studies that frame childbirth as a culturally and institutionally shaped process. The research demonstrates that perceptions of birth normality are fluid, shaped not only by medical expertise but also by cultural values, institutional norms, and personal attitudes of healthcare providers. The dissertation contributes to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of contemporary maternity care in the Czech Republic and to the broader debate about developing more pluralistic and woman- centered approaches to birth. No full textThe bachelor's thesis deals with the comparison of two translations of the novel "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin, specifically with the comparison of the realities, the author's style and the determination of the degree of their similarity or difference in relation to the original work. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the basic concepts related to the topic: the reason for the existence of multiple translations, the question of the translatability of the text, equivalence, adequacy of translation, the same or unequal effect of the original and the translation, factors influencing the translation activity, the analysis of translation strategies and procedures. The practical part includes a detailed analysis of the text focused on the linguistic (lexicon, grammar), stylistic (style, use of figurative means) and cultural (references to cultural specifics, realities, adaptation for the target culture) levels. No full text5 Abstract The subject of this bachelor's thesis is a parody five-part mass by the composer, writer, traveller and nobleman Christopher Harant of Polžice and Bezdružice, based on the madrigal Dolorosi martir by the Italian composer Luca Marenzio. The thesis aims to explore possible stylistic and compositional influences in Harant's setting of the mass ordinary. A comprehensive musical analysis of the mass is accompanied by comparisons with selected mass ordinary by composers from the Habsburg court (Alexander Utendal, Giorgio Flori, Jacob Regnart, Franz Sales).
