The gustar-type verbs in Spanish language textbooks for Czech students
This thesis focuses on the teaching of Spanish gustar-type verbs in the Czech educational context. Based on a detailed literature review of the challenges involved in teaching the verb gustar and an investigation into the interlanguage of Czech learners of Spanish, it seeks to assess the effectiveness and adequacy of how gustar is presented in Spanish textbooks for Czech students. The work first lays the theoretical and methodological foundations: it describes the verb gustar and so-called "gustar-type" verbs from a linguistic perspective (Chapter 1), then examines in detail the instruction of this phenomenon (Chapter 2) - drawing on the Instituto Cervantes curriculum framework, commenting on the challenges and current state of gustar instruction, and summarizing key points of the scholarly debate. Next, the study explores the interlanguage of Czech students at the A1-A2 levels by analysing errors in learners' output elicited via a test questionnaire (Chapter 3). Building on this interlanguage probe and the findings of the literature review, it presents an original didactic model for teaching gustar (Chapter 4). The final research phase (Chapter 5) consists of an analysis of six textbooks according to selected criteria, aimed at evaluating whether gustar is treated with the target group in mind...
The Contribution of Augustin Bartoš to Special Education
The diploma thesis is entitled "The Contribution of Augustin Bartoš to Special Education", and it focuses on the venerable personality of special education, Augustin Bartoš (1888- 1969), a rural teacher, the second director of the Jedlička Institute for the Crippled in Prague and a school inspector of Prague schools. The thesis tries to reveal more about the family life of Augustin Bartoš, especially to provide valuable information about his two wives and two daughters, which is supplemented by a personal interview with his living granddaughter. The aim of the thesis is to introduce and get to know Augustin Bartoš better as a personality who is mainly connected with the Jedlička Institute for the Crippled in Prague. All his written monographs, which are listed, described and evaluated here, help it. In particular, his four unpublished manuscripts, which have not been published any- where, two of which are autobiographical, are very helpful. Another aim of the thesis is to show and prove the significant contributions of Augustin Bartoš, in the form of progressive ideas, actions and discoveries related to handicrafts, the Bartoš phenomenon and reform education, particularly project-based education and outdoor schools. The diploma thesis is based on the study, description and comparison of Bartoš's..
Therapeutic intervention of chomesterol metabolism with nuclear receptor ligands
Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology Student: Bianka Vatahová Supervisor: prof. PharmDr. Petr Pávek, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Therapeutic intervention of cholesterol metabolism with nuclear receptor ligands The synthesis of cholesterol as an essential component of biological membranes takes place in all cells of the body. The liver is a key organ for the synthesis and elimination of total cholesterol in the body, for the control of plasma cholesterol concentration, its conversion to bile acids, and the enterohepatic bile acid cycle. A number of enzymes and transporters are involved in cholesterol and bile acid homeostasis. These transporters are localized on the sinusoidal and basement membrane of the hepatocyte as well as in enterocytes. Cholesterol homeostasis and the expression of key enzymes and transporters are controlled by key transcription factors and nuclear receptors, including constitutive androstane receptor (CAR). The aims of this thesis were to study changes in the expression of selected genes in mouse liver following administration of a novel ligand MI763F of the constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) using a quantitative real-time reverse polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) method. Based on the results of the..
On Kasteleyn's bunkbed conjecture in some classes of graphs
The bunkbed conjecture is a problem in probabilistic graph theory concerning con- nectivity probabilities in bunkbed graphs. From a graph G = (V, E), we construct the bunkbed graph by taking two copies of G and connecting some vertices. Informally, the conjecture states that the probability that two vertices are connected in the same copy is greater than or equal to the probability that two vertices are connected in different copies. This thesis investigates the conjecture for the theta graph, consisting of two ver- tices joined by multiple internally disjoint paths. We prove that the conjecture holds in this case using the flip function. This method could be useful in determining whether the conjecture holds for other classes of graphs
The impact of the presence of Russian Armed Forces in the Kaliningrad Oblast on regional security in the Baltic Region.
1 Abstract The thesis analyzes the use of the Kaliningrad region within the military strategy of the Russian Federation focusing on the concept of strategic military deterrence as one of the key instruments of hybrid warfare. The aim of the research is to identify the specific militry capabilities that the Russian Federation possesses in the Kaliningrad region and to examine how are these assets utilized for military deterrence and for influencing the security enviroment in the Baltic region. Methodologically, the thesis is based on a qualitative case study, using open primary and secondary sources including satellite data, strategic documents, analytical reports and media outputs. Based on the research findings it can be concluded that the Russian Federation uses the Kaliningrad region as a key instrument of military deterrence, relying on a combination of extensive military presence, the maintenance of the A2/AD zone, regular military exercises, maneuvers and non-standard operational activities. These elements, acting in conjugation, enable the Russian Federation to exert continuous influence over the security dynamics in the Baltic region without the need for direct use of military force
Identity and post show branding in the Slovak Bachelor
This thesis explores how the Slovak reality dating show Ruža pre nevestu constructs and communicates dominant cultural norms around gender, sexuality, romantic desirability, and race, and how these narratives are extended, reproduced, or renegotiated by female contestants through their post-show social media presence. Grounded in feminist media studies and feminist and sociological theories of gender performativity, surveillance, postfeminism, and microcelebrity, the research uses qualitative feminist content analysis and netnography to examine both the TV show's narrative and public Instagram profiles of 20 contestants from the show's first three seasons. The analysis reveals that Ruža pre nevestu promotes highly normative ideals of femininity centered on emotional labor, aesthetic discipline, and heterosexual appeal, while marginalizing non-normative identities. At the same time, contestants engage in diverse strategies of digital self-branding that range from Romantic identity performance to Entrepreneur idenity performance, with varying degrees of complicity, critique, or resistance to the show's gendered hierarchies. The found identity performance strategies reflect broader postfeminist sensibilities in which empowerment is framed through individual visibility, narrow beauty norms, and..
Social and psychological aspects of a children's home in Sri Lanka
This thesis explores the social and psychological aspects of childhood within the environment of a children's home in Sri Lanka. It is based on a five-week ethnographic field study employing methods such as participant observation, semi-structured interviews with various actors involved in the home, and analysis of available documents. The aim of the research was to gain an in-depth understanding of one specific institutional setting, to capture the everyday reality of life in the home, and to examine the nature of social relationships and interactions among the children as well as between children and adults. The study offers a descriptive insight into the daily functioning of the institution, including its rules, rituals, and customs. In addition to the formal structure, it focuses on informal group dynamics such as the formation of peer groups, hierarchies, roles, and behavioral patterns among the children. Furthermore, it describes the ways in which children regulate their emotions and the meanings they attach to relationships with foreign volunteers active in the home. The findings illustrate how children co-create their own social world, which plays a crucial role in their adaptation and psychosocial development. The collected data offer a qualitative insight into the psychosocial aspects of..
