Microplastics in drinking water
This thesis examines microplastics in the drinking water supply system at the confluence of the Rokytná and Jihlava rivers. The main goal was to compare microplastic concentrations in both rivers in relation to catchment characteristics and to track changes during infiltration, treatment, and distribution. Results show that both natural filtration and water treatment significantly reduce concentrations and alter particle composition. However, microplastics were still detected in the treated water. A rise in particle numbers during distribution suggests the infrastructure may act as a secondary source. Nevertheless, drinking water remains a minor source of microplastic exposure according to current literature
ICD-11 Gaming Disorder: Translation and Pilot Validation of the GADIS-A Screening Questionnaire in a Czech Adolescent Population
Abstracts: Background: The world of computer games is constantly changing with the gradual development of technology, and overall, this activity is becoming one of the most popular leisure activities for children and young people. In the Czech Republic, we already have a tool that reflects the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, namely the DHDH questionnaire developed by Palacký University in Olomouc, which divides players into problem-free, problematic and addicted. However, we lack a tool that would reflect the new category in the ICD-11 diagnostic criteria, which should start being used in the Czech Republic in 2027. This is where the German GADIS-A questionnaire comes in, which is designed to diagnose adolescents with gaming disorder. Aims: The main objective is to translate and culturally adapt the GADIS-A questionnaire for Czech adolescents, followed by pilot testing of the tool on a sample of secondary school students. Methods: First, the questionnaire was professionally translated into Czech and back into English using the back-translation method by two independent Czech and two English-speaking translators. The questionnaire was then administered to a sample of approximately 800 secondary school students, with the questionnaire being distributed electronically via a QR code. Of these, 588 were included in..
Social Implications of Corruption in Pakistan
Pronikla do sociálních, ekonomických a politických institucí, což vede k narušení hospodářského růstu, brání politické stabilitě, podněcuje chudobu a snižuje lidský rozvoj. Vzhledem ke své systematické povaze působí shora dolů v různých formách či podobách, tj. úplatkářství, vydírání, zpronevěra, praní špinavých peněz, nepotismus atd. .
Green as a symbol of environmentalism: Analysis of consumer perception
This bachelor thesis addresses the influence of the green color as a visual symbol of ecological sustainability in the context of cosmetic product packaging design. It examines whether and how the individual visual parameters of color, specifically hue, saturation, brightness, and the amount of green color used, affect consumers' perception of sustainability. The theoretical part is based on the knowledge of semiotics, visual communication, marketing design, and environmental concepts, while also reflecting the meanings of green color in both cultural and advertising contexts. The empirical part of the thesis uses an experimental method, where, in a survey, respondents evaluated the ecological sustainability of visually identical packaging with different variations of green color. The experiment builds on current studies in the field. The results statistically demonstrated that lighter shades, yellow-green tones, and a higher proportion of green on the packaging have a positive impact on the perceived ecological sustainability of the product. The findings of this thesis confirm that even seemingly subtle changes in visual design can influence judgments about the ecological character of a product. The limitations of the chosen research method are also discussed. However, the results can serve as..
Water quality in rural catchments in Středočeský kraj
The role of primary schools in supporting pupils with SPU
This diploma thesis focuses on the role of primary schools in supporting pupils with specific learning disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to analyze how primary schools identify the needs of these pupils and what support measures they use to ensure effective education. The theoretical part deals with inclusive education, the legislative framework, and the characteristics of individual disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthographia, dyscalculia and attention disorders. The empirical part uses qualitative research in the form of case studies and interviews with teaching staff. The results highlight the key role of early diagnosis, school-family cooperation, and the importance of support measures
Aplication of non-traditional games in Sport classes
This bachelor thesis focuses on the use of non-traditional sports games in physical education classes and examines their impact on the development of motor skills and abilities in younger school-aged children. The underlying assumption of the study was that including non- traditional game formats-differing from conventional sports in structure, pace, and social interaction-can enhance not only physical performance but also pupils' motivation and active engagement in physical education. The main objective of the research was to determine whether regular participation in lessons involving non-traditional games would result in measurable improvements in pupils' motor performance, compared to traditional PE instruction. The research was conducted over a six- week intervention period. The experimental group participated in a structured program of alternative sports activities (such as spikeball, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, kanjam, and disc golf), while the control group continued regular PE lessons. Changes in motor abilities were assessed through pre- and post-intervention testing, with a focus on explosive strength, speed, balance, coordination, and accuracy. The results showed that pupils in the experimental group achieved significantly greater improvement in all tested disciplines. The most..
Representation of the ideology of socialist cosmism in Czechoslovak science fiction films between 1961 and 1989.
This diploma thesis will deal with the phenomenon of socialist utopian "cosmism" and its cinematic representations, focusing on Czechoslovak sci-fi movies from the 1960s - 1980s. I will be watching individual mores repeatedly to interpret representations of cosmism, for example in the plot or symbolic forms present in the movies, etc. I will rely on a historical-anthropological interpretation of symbolic forms in the tradition of Clifford Geertz and Robert Darnton. The concept of socialist cosmism is based on the tradition of cosmic philosophical thought and on the works of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky and other Soviet and Ossian authors who imagined advanced alien civilizations as friendly and most likely a utopian communist society. Sci-fi movies from the 1960s and 1970s are often more poetic and express an optimistic view of the future. As the communist ideology withered away in the late 1980s, the main motif of sci-fi mores became the oppressive alterity, the conflicts of civilizations and the post-apocalyptic world
Cooperative games in anonymous environment
This thesis explores cooperative games in anonymous environments, where agents cannot be reliably identified and may use manipulation to change their identities or capabilities. We provide a coherent formal introduction to cooperative games (with skills) in an open anonymous environment. We have revised and clarified the exposition in contrast to the available literature. The thesis extends the cooperative game theory for games with skills by introducing new proofs that have not been published before. Further, we have designed and documented a lightweight, extensible software library for modeling and solving cooperative games with skills. The main part of the library is the framework for the iterative solution concept that we developed and applied to randomly generated games. This work improves the foundation for studying cooperative games in anonymous environments
Awareness of information as an object
The bachelor's thesis will explore the theme of information and its transmission. The theoretical part will delve into the history of human awareness and the ways in which information has been shared among members of society throughout history and in the context of art history. Emphasis will be placed on various periods of human civilization, from early oral traditions to the current era of media oversaturation. Through an analysis of the transformative evolution of information sharing, the thesis will attempt to identify key changes in technological advancements that have influenced the accessibility of information, and thereby, the way society thinks and understands the world around it. By examining both the past and the present, it will offer perspectives and personal reflections of the author on the driving force behind the human desire for knowledge and connection, alongside the tendency to overload our minds. The practical part will feature an original artistic project inspired by overstimulation and saturation in our current hyper-connected society. The resulting artwork will attempt to capture the author's feelings regarding the unprecedented level of sensory and cognitive stimulation, driven by the constant, often empty and meaningless, stream of information. The didactic part will..
