How Does Czech Public Television Appeal to Youth Audience
This thesis focuses on how Czech Television seeks to engage young viewers aged 15 to 25 through its online platform iVysílání. This age group belongs to Generation Z, which is characterized by specific media habits and a preference for digital platforms over traditional linear broadcasting. The theoretical framework is based on the concept of public service media, the transformation of public broadcasters in the digital age, and current research on the media consumption of Generation Z. The empirical part combines quantitative and qualitative methods - a questionnaire survey among young people and a series of semi-structured interviews. The research aimed to examine whether and how young viewers engage with Czech Television's online content (specifically the programmes TBH, Na záchodcích, Protivný sprostý matky, Novinářky, Do divočiny!, Kritika budoucnosti, and Rapstory), what they value, and what barriers prevent more frequent viewing. The results show that while young people appreciate the thematic and stylistic relevance of some shows, awareness of them remains low. Content distribution - particularly its availability on commonly used platforms and the level of promotion - proves to be a crucial factor. The thesis thus highlights the need for more effective distribution and communication..
Somatic embryogenesis of Norway spruce: interaction of carbohydrate balance and oxidoreduction state under the influence of cytokinin treatment
Somatic embryogenesis represents an innovative method of vegetative propagation of Norway spruce (Picea abies [L.] Karst.) that potentially enables efficient production of a large number of plants. Although this technology has been extensively studied for 40 years, its wider application is limited by problems such as high genotype variability in response to inductive treatment, low yield of quality embryos, and limited long-term stability of the embryogenic capacity of individual lines. This thesis investigates the effect of long-term replacement of the commonly used aromatic cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) with its hydroxylated derivative meta-topolin (mT) during the proliferation phase on the progression of the subsequent somatic embryo maturation phase of Norway spruce. Particular attention is focused on changes in significant antioxidant systems during embryo maturation. Results demonstrated that replacing BAP with mT led to a significant increase in the number of mature somatic embryos at the end of the fifth week of maturation. Biochemical analysis of the glutathione redox pair showed that mT use supported maintenance of a more reduced environment during proliferation and the following five weeks of maturation. Analysis of ascorbate content suggested its relatively minor role in..
Properties of Aluminum-Copper Nanostructures
Aluminum-copper heterogeneous nanostructures are promising candidates for use in aluminum batteries with water-based electrolytes, where the combination of Al₂Cu nanolamellae within the aluminum matrix reduces issues associated with oxide layer and dendrite formation, two key factors that compromise battery performance and longevity. In this work, Al₂Cu nanostructures embedded in aluminum were fabricated through a sequence of magnetron sputtering, annealing, and secondary aluminum deposition. In-situ and ex-situ annealing studies established optimal conditions for Al₂Cu phase formation. Cross-sectional analysis confirmed successful fabrication of the intended architecture. Electrochemical testing demonstrated that the Al₂Cu-based composite anode offers significantly enhanced cycling stability, energy efficiency, and specific energy compared to a pure aluminum anode
Telemedicine in the border region of the Czech Republic from the perspective of Physicians
The thesis focuses on examining the use of telemedicine in the border regions of the Czech Republic from the perspective of physicians. Telemedicine represents a growing tool of modern healthcare, especially in the context of geographically disadvantaged areas, where it can contribute to improving the accessibility and efficiency of care. The aim of the research is to analyse how physicians in border regions perceive the benefits, challenges, and limitations associated with the implementation of telemedicine services. The study is based on qualitative methodology and draws on semi-structured interviews with ten physicians, most of whom work in border areas
Perinatal brachial plexus palsy and its association with obesity in later life
Perinatal Brachial Plexus Palsy (PBPP) is one of the most common birth injuries with long-term consequences that affect psychomotor development, quality of life, and the ability to perform daily activities. Clinical observations suggest that children with PBPP are more likely to develop obesity, which is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome in adulthood and a higher likelihood of social exclusion. However, the relationship between PBPP and obesity remains insufficiently investigated. This thesis aims to evaluate the association between PBPP and the development of obesity later in life. It also seeks to identify risk factors for obesity and contribute to improved targeted parental education. Two groups of children were examined for the purposes of this study: those diagnosed with PBPP and those without neuromuscular deficits. For both groups, data were collected regarding birth history, current physical parameters, physical activity, and the presence of obesity in parents. Motor impairment in children with PBPP was assessed using the modified Mallet scale. Statistical analysis showed a higher incidence of obesity in children with PBPP (55,2 %) compared to healthy peers (18,2 %). Moreover, the analysis demonstrated that greater motor impairment was associated with a higher weight..
The impact of a floorball extracurricular club on children's behavior in physical education.
This bachelor's thesis addresses the question of whether participation in a floorball extracurricular club has a positive impact on pupils' behaviour in the school environment, their attitude towards physical education, and their overall relationship to sport. The study examines differences between three groups of pupils - those who play floorball, those involved in other sports, and those who do not participate in any extracurricular sports activities. Methods: To address the research aim, a quantitative research method was employed through an online questionnaire distributed among physical education teachers. The questionnaire included 23 statements, which respondents evaluated using a five-point Likert scale. Research findings: The research revealed that pupils who engage in any sport are perceived more positively than their non-sporting peers, especially in areas such as motivation, cooperation, and discipline. Contrary to initial expectations, floorball players did not significantly outperform other young athletes. Conclusion: The main finding is that the key factor is not the specific type of sport, but rather regular engagement in sports in general. A major limitation of the research lies in its reliance on the subjective evaluations of physical education teachers
Factorization of a six-element set as a tool for describing Sylvester and Hoffman-Singleton graphs
The thesis can be characterised as an elaboration of the results, procedures and ideas related to the Sylvester graph from the article by Rosemary A. Bailey et al. In the first part, we will describe the properties of 1-factorizations of a six-element set and we will show how they can be used to construct an outer automorphism of a symmetric group on six-element set. In the second part, we will use the construction of the Sylvester graph from the mentioned article and prove some properties of this graph. Subsequently, we will describe in detail the automorphism group of the Sylvester graph, and we will prove that the graph is distance-transitive. Finally, we will construct a Hoffman-Singleton graph from the Sylvester graph using the construction from Peter Cameron's blog, who is one of the co-authors of the mentioned article
Pitfalls of nursing care for patients with hydrocephalus from a nurse's perspective
The present bachelor thesis entitled "Challenges of nursing care of patients with hydrocephalus from the nurse's perspective" deals with nursing care of patients with hydrocephalus and focuses on the identification of the main complications that may occur during the provision of nursing care. The aim of the thesis was to compare nurses' views on the pitfalls of nursing care for patients with hydrocephalus. What complications are encountered by nurses caring for these patients and whether they have sufficient knowledge regarding hydrocephalus. The theoretical part describes hydrocephalus as such - its characteristics, classification, symptoms and treatment. The second part of the theory deals with nursing care, detailing the whole process from pre-operative to post-operative care, including complications and specifics for paediatric and adult patients. For the empirical part of the thesis, a quantitative research method was chosen in the form of a non-standardized questionnaire survey, which included 28 questions. The distribution of questionnaires took place in three hospitals, which were the University Hospital in Motol, the Central Military Hospital in Prague and the University Hospital Hradec Králové. A total of 87 respondents participated in the survey, which was conducted between January and..
