Conceptual comparison of feminist theologians Jana Opočenská and Dorothee Sölle
No full textInternal Abstract The thesis deals with the discourse of feminist theology, its concepts and theories. It focuses to both foreign and Czech theologians; in the analytical part of the thesis, especially to Jana Opočenská and Dorothee Sölle. Czech theologians Jan Vokoun, Milan Balabán or Jiří Pavlík needed to be mentioned in my work. Jan Vokoun in "Listening to Women Theologians" shows that theology is not only the domain of men, but that there are women theologians who practice erudite theology. Milan Balabán, in "Poignant Portraits of Biblical Women," describes the female characters of scripture from the most famous tonameless maids, slaves, and even harlots. Jiri Pavlik critically examines the documentary "Male and Female He Created" which was published for Catholic education. Contribution of male theologians prove to be an asset to feminist theological studies. The aim of this thesis is to answer the questions I asked myself while writing the thesis itself. The comparison of the works of selected feminist theologians who denounce masculine interpretations of the Bible and collectively reject sexism, discrimination and patriarchy was my driving force. Normalisation of Israeli-Arab relations
No full textThis thesis focuses on the creation and building of peace in the context of Israeli-Arab relations, with particular emphasis on the foreign policy of President Donald Trump's administration during his term in office from 2017 to 2021 and its impact on the Middle East. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the concepts of peacemaking and peacebuilding, with a particular focus on the approach of Norrin M. Ripsman, whose concepts of top-down and bottom-up peace processes serve as the key interpretive framework for the overall analysis. The second part focuses on the specific actions of the Trump administration toward Israel, Palestine, and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), examining the motives, strategies, and objectives behind these actions. The following chapter explores the development of relations between Israel and the GCC states, analyzing key events that contributed to their rapprochement. The final chapter is devoted to the "Peace to Prosperity" plan and the subsequent signing of the Abraham Accords, a pivotal moment in Israeli-Arab relations. The impact of nutrition and infection on the mutual interactions between microbiome and the immune system of pregnant women with term and preterm delivery
No full textThis thesis discusses the impact of nutrition on the interaction of gut microbiome and the immune system in pregnant women. The work consists of two main sections - practical and theoretical. Theoretical part describes changes and behaviour of the immune system during pregnancy and childbirth and a few chosen immunopathologies related to them. Further the changes of our organism's microbiome during gestation are mentioned, greater portion of which is targeting gut microbiome. The last subsection of the theoretical part explains the relationship of obesity, saturated-fats-rich diet and fibre deficiency with gut microbiome and immune system during pregnancy. Lastly, several dietary supplements with immunomodulatory effects or with a positive influence on the placenta and intestinal microbiome are listed here. The practical part of this thesis consists of quantitative research mapping dietary habits of pregnant women and occurrence of complications during pregnancy. Results of this study are displayed using graphs and tables, which show an increased number of pregnancy complications in subjects with saturated-fats-rich diets. Germany, Zeitenwende, and (un)altered strategic culture?
No full textThis thesis deals with the concept of Zeitenwende, announced by Chancellor Scholz in his parliamentary speech on February 27, 2022. It focuses on the transformation of the German strategic culture, as its successful adaptation is a prerequisite for the successful implementation of Zeitenwende. The thesis investigates the extent to which German strategic culture has shifted since the Chancellor's speech. The work uses discourse analysis, specifically the shorthand records from the German Parliament, to evaluate the scope of the alternation of the strategic culture based on applying the same-named theoretical concept. The analysis is supported by findings emerging from an empirical analysis focusing on the German foreign and security policy up to 2022. The thesis findings suggest that the Zeitenwende has not marked a decisive turning point, but rather a slow and gradual change, a typical pattern for most strategic culture changes. While there has been a shift towards deterrence and Germany has provided offensive weapons to Ukraine, abandoning its long- term policy of not sending weapons directly to war zones, old habits of the strategic culture persist. "We already have good neighbors." A Multispecies Ethnography of the Planned Gigafactory in Dolní Lutyně
No full textIn March 2024, the Czech government approved the preparations for constructing a gigafactory in Dolní Lutyně. Backed by an undisclosed foreign investor with an estimated funding of up to 200 billion CZK, the project is being framed as an opportunity for the development and transformation of the Moravian-Silesian Region following the decline of coal mining. At the same time, the decision to locate the factory on arable land, in flood zones, near residential areas, and EU- protected habitats has raised concerns and sparked resistance. Yet Dolní Lutyně is inhabited not only by humans but also by a range of more-than-human beings who also shape the development of the gigafactory project. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork conducted between April and November 2024 from an anthropo-biological-activist standpoint, this research foregrounds more-than-human perspectives on the conflict, in which "nature" is not merely a passive backdrop but an active constituent of events. While the dichotomy between culture and "nature" is often articulated and mobilized in opposition to the gigafactory, the emergence of local more-than-human alliances and neighborly relations points to shifting perceptions of more-than-human beings beyond the Western dualistic cosmology. The thesis firstly attemps to, briefly, in retrospect, charactertize fertility development in German Democratic Republic and Federal Republic of Germany since the end of World War II until reunification in 1990 and then, in more detail, characterize fertility development for these territories after reunification up to the present day. Understanding Azov: Ideological Components and Structural Features
No full textAzov je jednou z nejzáhadnějších a nejznámějších organizací v Evropě. Po ruské invazi na Ukrajinu se tato organizace stala známou ve všech koutech světa. Statečná obrana Mariupolu ukázala pravou tvář Azovu. Přesto je Azov stále málo probádaným a neznámým tématem. Dnes je to nejen vysoce kvalifikovaná bojová jednotka, ale také celé společenské a politické hnutí, které sdružuje desítky nevládních organizací a politických stran. Tato studie zkoumá Azov prostřednictvím dvou paralel: ideologické a strukturální. Ideologické chápání Azova sleduje jeho kořeny v ukrajinském nacionalismu a krajně pravicových hnutích Evropy jako spouštěcí mechanismus, který formoval pohled na hnutí Azov. Strukturální chápání se zaměřuje na hierarchickou organizaci, rozdělení rolí, evoluční a zdrojový charakter. Smíšený přístup ke studiu, kombinující kvalitativní analýzu výroků, symbolů a narativů v médiích s kvantitativní analýzou majetku a velikosti organizace, nabízí potenciál pro pochopení vlivu a postavení v ukrajinské a mezinárodní společnosti. Using LLM to create a knowledge base from documents
No full textLarge language models (LLMs) face challenges when applied to enterprise documents, including outdated knowledge, hallucinations, and privacy risks associated with cloud-based services. This thesis addresses these problems by exploring a fully local implementation of retrieval-augmented generation on standard personal computer to ensure complete data privacy. The research focuses on analyzing document characteristics, particularly financial reports, and building an initial proof-of-concept pipeline using open-source tools such as Ollama and quantized LLMs. The work adopts an iterative development approach, refining the system through targeted modifications of individual pipeline components. Each iteration is systematically evaluated using an LLM as a judge to assess changes in performance and quality. The final outcome is a functional retrieval-augmented generation pipeline that demonstrates the practical feasibility of secure, privacy-preserving information retrieval on a personal computer. This thesis provides insights into optimizing local configurations, evaluates trade-offs under resource constraints, and offers a novel assessment framework for improving retrieval-augmented generation pipelines
Mapping of patients pain treatment at the Transplant surgery clinic of the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine
No full textTato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou léčby bolesti u pacientů hospitalizovaných na Klinice transplantační chirurgie v Institutu Klinické a Experimentální Medicíny (IKEM). Cílem této práce bylo zmapovat efektivitu řízení bolesti z pohledu pacientů a identifikovat případné oblasti ke zlepšení. Teoretická část se zabývá základními poznatky o bolesti, její klasifikací, metodami hodnocení bolesti a možnostmi farmakologické a nefarmakologické léčby. Empirická část je založena na kvantitativním výzkumu, který se realizoval prostřednictvím dotazníku distribuovaným mezi hospitalizované pacienty. Získaná data ukazují, že většina respondentů zhodnotila léčbu bolesti jako dostatečnou a účinnou. Výstupem získaných dat je potvrzení vysoké úrovně poskytované péče v oblasti léčby bolesti. Výzkum může posloužit jako podklad pro zdokonalení praxe v oblasti managementu bolesti
