The Role of Women in Society from the Perspective of the Alliance for the Family
The bachelor thesis examines the role of women in society and the issue of conservatism, or even extremism in the context of the Alliance for the Family. At the beginning of the thesis, it presents a brief explanation of the theories (conservatism, traditional family, (anti)feminism, (anti)gender and extremism) and their placement on the Czech political and social scene. The aim is to find out how the female role is constructed in the texts of this organization and how these views relate to feminism and gender. At the same time, the thesis seeks to draw a line between traditional and conservative currents and extremist tendencies. The research is based on a qualitative content analysis of Alliance for the Family articles for the years 2022 to 2025 published on their official website. Using coding tables and defined categories and sub-categories, the thesis arrives at the notion of women as primarily wives and mothers who maintain the stability of the family but also of society through these traditional roles. Other roles of women or different ideological views of them are criticized and presented as a threat. In addition, the results of the analysis helped to further deepen the boundary between conservatism and extremism in the end, as the context of the situation proved to be important in these..
Rust for HelenOS
Rust is a modern programming language that compiles to machine code and offers unique features such as data ownership and borrow checking. A comprehensive standard library and well integrated cross-compilation capabilities provide a significant advantage for developing applications that support many target platforms. The objective of this thesis is to introduce support for the HelenOS operating system into the Rust compiler and standard library. We discuss the steps of this process and examine the technical challenges that arise, including issues that need to be resolved in the underlying operating system implementation. A significant portion of the standard library is implemented, and its correctness is validated by running a custom test suite on all five HelenOS variants that we support. Practical applicability of this work is then demonstrated by running multiple real-world command-line and graphical applications on HelenOS
Parents' perspective on gymnastic sports
This bachelor's thesis explores the decision-making processes of parents when choosing a sport for their child, focusing on two gymnastic-based disciplines: sport cheerleading and acrobatic rock and roll. The main objective of the work is to describe the factors that influence parents' choices, determine the typical age of initiation of sport and examine how parents perceive the demands, risks and expectations related to their child's participation in organized sports. A quantitative research design was applied, using a structured questionnaire distributed to parents of children actively engaged in these sports within the Prague and Central Bohemian regions. Data analysis focused on identifying relationships between parental experiences, club availability, characteristics of each sport, and resulting decisions. This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the parental role in children's sports socialization and to support the development of more effective communication strategies by sports organizations targeting parents. The results of the study show that most children begin their sports training between the ages of 5 and 9, which corresponds to the period of preschool and early school age. The main factors that parents consider when choosing a sport include the development of the..
Outdoor training as a teambuilding tool in the sports preparation of top volleyball players
Title: Outdoor training as a teambuilding tool in the sports preparation of top volleyball players Objective: The aim of this thesis was to survey top volleyball players, coaches and other members of implementation teams about the inclusion and usage of outdoor training as part of teambuilding activities of top volleyball teams. Methods: A quantitative data collection method was used to obtain data in the form of a survey, which was conducted online via the Survio.com platform. The research sample consisted of a total of 86 respondents who were active or former top volleyball players, coaches, or other members of the implementation teams. The survey combined closed, scale, and open questions, allowing for both descriptive statistical analysis and deeper insight into the respondents' personal experiences. Results: Although the survey results showed that 65,1 % of respondents perceive outdoor training as a positive factor for their team's performance, outdoor training is currently not a commonly used teambuilding tool for top volleyball teams. On the other hand, 88,4 % of respondents would appreciate greater use of outdoor activities in the sports preparation of volleyball teams, with half of them believing that it should even be included in the training process regularly. Overall, the outdoor..
Aggressiveness, aggression and violence in sport and influence of combat sports on aggressiveness of participants
Title: Aggressiveness, aggression and violence in sport and influence of combat sports on aggressiveness of participants Objectives: The aim of this thesis is, first, to define the terms aggression, aggressiveness, and violence, and to highlight the differences between them. At the same time, through the clarification of these concepts, the goal is to understand the relationships between them. Another objective of the thesis is to explore other factors that may influence aggressiveness and assess their significance in comparison to sports- related factors, which are the main focus of this work. The final goal is to analyze the impact of combat sports on aggressiveness through the articles used in the thesis. Furthermore, the work focuses on whether the influence of combat sports on aggressiveness is positive or negative, and to what extent they truly affect aggressive behavior. Methods: In my thesis, I used the basic methods of theoretical research: the method of deduction, conceptual analysis, description, compilation, and content analysis. Results: For the purposes of discussing aggression in sport, I have distinguished and explained the terms: aggression, aggressiveness, and violence. I have also classified combat activities and identified factors that influence aggressiveness, such as heredity,..
Selected special measures according to the act on the protection of animals against cruelty
119 Selected special measures according to the act on the protection of animals against cruelty Abstract The subject of this rigorous thesis is the analysis of special measures regulated in Section 28a (1) of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty with a focus on substitute care regulated in Section 28b of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty. The thesis also focuses on a detailed analysis of the legal regulation of preliminary substitute care under Section 28c of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty. The aim of this rigorous thesis is to evaluate the existing legal regulation of special measures regulated in Section 28a(1) of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty, in particular the substitute care for the abused animal, and the regulation of preliminary substitute care regulated in Section 28c of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty, and further to evaluate their use in practice, to compare the similarities and differences of substitute care and preliminary substitute care and to highlight some problematic points. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the current legal regulation of special measures regulated in Section 28a(1) of the Act on the Protection of Animals against Cruelty. Then the legal regulation of substitute..
Insights into mycobacterial transcription: From HelD-mediated RNA Polymerase recycling to novel transcription factors
Women experts in the broadcast of ČT24
In the long term, fewer women than men appear in news content as expert sources. This disparity is also evident in television broadcasting. In the Czech media environment, however, this issue remains under-researched. The subject of this analysis is the public broadcaster ČT24, the most watched news station in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it focuses on the programmes Události, komentáře and Studio 6, which involve expert sources on a daily basis. Using quantitative content analysis, the practical part answers the following research questions: How much space was given to male experts and how much to female experts in the news programmes? Which topics did female and male experts comment on? Were the experts interrupted by another guest during their speech? In the case of discussions, the analysis also looks at the distribution of female experts and male experts within a panel. Although the proportion of female experts has increased slightly over the years, the research shows that gender balance has not yet been achieved. In some programmes, women still do not reach one third of the total number of expert guests. An even greater inequality is evident in the amount of airtime women receive. The analysis also revealed that the most common form of panel discussion is an all-male panel
Inferring Phosphosite Functionality through Multi-Contextual Analysis
Phosphorylation, one of the most studied post-translational modifications, regulates a multitude of cellular processes by affecting protein function and structure in various ways, and functional characterization of phosphorylation events is of major scientific interest. However, many phosphorylation events may result from non-targeted enzymatic activity and harbor no biological meaning, or be a result of incorrect experimental identification. The main focus of this work is to describe what distinguishes functional phosphorylation sites from non-functional ones, including their conservation, dynamics, relation to other post-translational modifications, and location within 3D protein structure. Subsequently, existing computational and experimental methods for assessing phosphosite functionality are described
