Boxing behind the Iron Curtain - cornering in Czechoslovakia in 1948-1968
v anglickém jazyce The bachelor thesis focuses on boxing in Czechoslovakia in the years 1948-1968, when sport was used as a tool to educate and shape citizens according to the needs of the regime. The thesis analyses the unification and organisation of the sport, the role of boxing, the organisation of the sport and its presentation to the public. Methodologically, it is inspired by Michel Foucoult's concept of bio-power. Boxing in this period was understood not only as a sport discipline, but also as a means of control and education promoting collectivism, conscription and all-round development of individuals, including health. Through physical education, laws and rules, the state sought to mould the individual to its requirements. The research is based on archival sources, contemporary literature, press and professional publications. The research shows that sport was part of the state's strategy to create a new citizen through sport
An Analysis of Hannah Arendt's Concept of Totalitarianism And Its Application To The Work of George Orwell
Sleep as Part of a Romantic Relationships from the Perspective of Individuals with Sleep Problems
This thesis explores partnered sleep in the context of late modern society, with a particular focus on the experiences of individuals dealing with sleep difficulties. The main aim is to understand how everyday sleep practices are organized, negotiated, and reflected within intimate relationships, and how these practices are shaped by embodiment, relationship dynamics, and broader social structures. The research is based on a qualitative methodology, specifically in- depth interviews with individuals in relationships where at least one partner experiences problematic sleep. Data interpretation followed the principles of constructivist grounded theory and was theoretically grounded in the concepts of embodiment (Csordas), habitus (Bourdieu), and reflexive identity (Giddens). The analysis revealed that partnered sleep is neither natural nor static, but rather a continually negotiated process reflecting relationship quality, work pressures, gendered expectations, and technological change. Sleep emerges as a key site of everyday bodily and relational practice, simultaneously fostering closeness and highlighting tension. Sleep problems were not found to be a primary source of relationship disruption but often made pre-existing issues more visible. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of sleep as a..
Development of strength abilities in adolescent football players
Title of the Thesis: Development of Strength Abilities in Adolescent Football Players Objective: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze and summarize theoretical findings on the development of strength abilities in football players during adolescence. Methods: This review thesis was created by synthesizing domestic and international professional literature, scientific articles, and expert publications. Results: A set of practical recommendations for adolescent football players, based on the previous literature review and enriched with personal empirical experience and professional consultations with colleagues active in the field of strength training. Conclusion: Due to significant differences between biological and chronological age in adolescents, it is essential to consider the individual readiness of athletes when creating a training plan. The thesis emphasizes the importance of choosing appropriate methods, intensity, volume, and rest duration, while also debunking persistent myths about the harmfulness of strength training in adolescents
Japanese psychomimetics and their phonological characteristics
The aim of this thesis is to describe the relationship between the phonological aspect of psychomimes and their emotional chargedness and intensity. A questionnaire survey was carried out for this purpose, as well as the creation of correlation matrixes which were used to interpret the data. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part I introduce the topic of mimetic words, their prototypical features and ways of their categorization according to Japanese linguists. In order to match the emotional chargedness to a word, I also included an introduction to the theory of emotions in psychology. In the practical part, I evaluate a questionnaire survey in which six Japanese native speakers were approached to rate 60 most frequent psychomimes on two emotional axes according to psychologist James Russell. The words thus rated were then analyzed formally and a correlation matrix was subsequently constructed for all four of their initial syllables. As a result, the relationship between distinctive features and emotional chargedness and arousal was not clear-cut, and the correlation was not demonstrated except in rare cases. Key words: mimetic words, psychomimes, distinctive features, emotional chargedness, correlatio
The Effect of Increasing Contraction Duration during Intermittent Load on Muscle Performance in Climbers of Different Performance Levels
Author: Vojtěch Ptáček Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Mgr. Jiří Baláš, Ph.D. Title: The Effect of Increasing Contraction Duration during Intermittent Load on Muscle Performance in Climbers of Different Performance Levels. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to assess the effect of isometric contraction duration during intermittent load on local muscle performance and tissue oxygenation in the finger flexors of sport climbers of varying performance levels. Methods: The study took the form of a quantitative experimental design employing repeated- measures ANOVA, involving 40 sport climbers (19 males, 21 females) categorised by performance level. Each participant completed three protocols of isometric contractions of the finger flexors with work-to-rest ratios of 4:2, 6:2, and 8:2. Muscle performance was assessed using a hand dynamometer, while local muscle oxygenation was measured via near-infrared spectroscopy. The tests were administered in a randomised order with adequate recovery intervals. Results: Longer contraction durations during intermittent isometric loading resulted in a significant decline in muscle performance, measured by total force impulse. In the 4:2 protocol, the average force impulse reached 2866.3 ± 1259.3 kg·s; in the 6:2 protocol, it was 2492.3 ± 1188.1 kg·s; and in the 8:2..
Implementation of peer consulting in the field of social housing from the perspective of experts and peers
This bachelor's thesis aims to provide an exploratory insight into the issue of peer consultancy in social housing. The research objective of the thesis is to determine how the use of peer consultants in the services of the social housing system affects the peers themselves, their colleagues and clients. The thesis includes an analysis of potential barriers that may pose risks or obstacles for peer consultants in performing their work. The theory of implementation is used for the theoretical anchoring of the thesis, while the final research objective is to identify a possible implementation deficit in employing peer consultants. The research was conducted using a qualitative method through semi-structured expert interviews with 2 types of informants, namely the peers themselves and experts. In this area, the author identifies the positive aspects that peers bring according to expert informants and peers and emphasizes the possible risks that may arise for peers, other workers and their clients if the work environment is poorly set up. The author also identifies barriers that are mainly related to the legislative lack of anchoring of this job position. The last chapter of this work provides recommendations for risk prevention in multidisciplinary teams as well as recommendations for further research..
The Danish Compounds and their Translation into Czech
HNYK, Dominik. Dánská kompozita a jejich překlad do češtiny. Bachelor thesis, advisor Stahr, Radka. Charles University, Faculty of arts, Institute of Germanic Studies, 2025. The topic of the bachelor thesis is Danish composites and their translation into Czech. Danish makes extensive use of compounding as a way of forming new words, and on the contrary does not use adjectives and other word types to the same extent as in English. The first part of the paper will give a brief overview of word formation in both languages. It will then deal with the definition of the concept of composites and their use in both languages. The second part of the thesis will analyse the possibilities of translating composites using a comparison of the original (Danish) texts and their translations into the second language (Czech). The hypothesis is that the Czech composites are obiter. On the basis of three contemporary Danish novels and their Czech translations, it will be examined what translation strategies Czech translators choose to work with composites when translating them into Czech while maintaining semantic accuracy and grammatical correctness. The results of this work may provide useful insights for translators, linguists and all those interested in the issue of translation between Danish and Czech, and..
Legal Rulemaking of Regional and Local Authorities within Their SelfGoverning Powers, Focusing on Real Estate Tax
Legal Rulemaking of Regional and Local Authorities within Their Self- Governing Powers, Focusing on Real Estate Tax Abstract This thesis describes the legal rulemaking of regional and local authorities within their self-governing powers and the legal regulation of this issue. In addition to the description and analysis of this issue, the thesis also contains de lege ferenda proposals whose implementation to the Czech legal system would bring a qualitative shift. Furthermore, the research of this thesis contains a "special" part devoted to the normative formation of municipalities in the framework of the real estate tax. This chapter analyses from a practical perspective the main problems encountered by municipalities when issuing generally binding real estate tax ordinances. Finally, the text includes a comparison with the Slovak legislation on municipal legal rulemaking in general and on real estate tax rulemaking. Some recommendations suitable for implementation in the Czech legal system are drawn from this part of the text. The legal rulemaking of regional and local authorities can be seen as topical because of the gradual expansion of the application of this competence in practice. A series of several laws in the last 5 years has significantly expanded the scope for the normative work of local..

Title of the thesis in English: Health-Focused Physical Education in Preschools in the Central Bohemian Region and Prague Objective of the thesis: The main goal of this bachelor's thesis was to find out how often and in what ways health-focused physical education is included in the daily routine of preschools in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. It also aimed to compare the views of parents and teachers on physical activities that support children's health in these schools. A smaller goal was to identify the main problems and challenges that make it hard to include health-focused physical education in preschool programs. Methods: For this research, an anonymous online questionnaire was used. It included both open-ended and multiple-choice questions. A total of 77 people took part- 49 were parents or legal guardians, and 28 were teachers, nannies, or caregivers. The data was collected online through Microsoft Forms from September 2024 to the end of October 2024, without asking for any sensitive personal information. Results: The results showed that health-focused physical education is regularly included in 26 out of 28 preschools. However, its implementation faces certain challenges, such as a lack of appropriate space and concerns about injuries. The research also found that many parents are..
