Exploring Leadership Excellence and Accountability in Organisational Dynamics: A Comprehensive Analysis in Nigeria

    Get PDF
This study explores the relationship between leadership excellence and accountability within organisations in Plateau State, Nigeria, and their combined impact on organisational culture and success. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data to provide a comprehensive analysis. Quantitative data were gathered through a structured questionnaire, revealing moderately positive perceptions of leadership practices, with a particular emphasis on fostering continuous learning and responsibility among leaders. Qualitative data, obtained through thematic analysis of open-ended responses, highlight effective leadership practices such as transparent communication and collaboration, as well as challenges in implementing accountability measures, including resistance to change and resource limitations. The Integration of quantitative and qualitative findings underscores the significant influence of leadership on accountability and, consequently, on organisational culture. The study also addresses social desirability bias by assuring participants of their anonymity and encouraging honest feedback. The findings contribute to academic discourse by providing localized Insights into leadership and accountability within the specific context of Plateau State, Nigeria. Practical recommendations include investing in leadership development programs, enhancing clarity in accountability measures, promoting continuous learning, addressing communication gaps, and prioritizing employee engagement. This research offers a roadmap for organisational leaders aiming to foster a culture of accountable leadership and drive organisational success in dynamic business environments

    The Anatomy of Angels

    No full text
Anatomy of Angels is an original composition for clarinet, cello and piano, composed in response to maquettes by Bernini in the Vatican Museum. It was commissioned by Amabile (Lesley Schatzberger, Nicola Tait-Baxter and Paul Nicholson) and first performed by them, at Late Music, York in November 2024. It explores themes of growth and decay: each of the five movements begins with a single idea to which other layers are added, but the original idea remains present throughout, serving as the frame around which the structures have been built. Towards the end of each movement the music subsides (or decays) to a single idea again, but not necessarily the one with which it began. The movements overlap slightly, to form a continuous musical span in which the senses of decay and re-growth become part of the same process, and - in movements two and four - the added layers deliberately suggest a sort of baroque melodic movement to make the connection more tangible in the music’s content

“My chief pleasure has been books”: On Teaching Letters of the Late Ignatius Sancho

    No full text
In the Letters of the Late Ignatius Sancho (1781–82), Sancho’s erudition, wit, pleasure in the arts, and love for his wife far outweigh extended considerations of systemic racism and personal struggle. This essay discusses two classroom experiences, one in the state of Maryland (US) and the other in the UK. What we have realized in our pedagogical approaches to teaching Sancho’s Letters is how immensely entrenched the association of Black subjectivity with historical suffering remains within academia. We propose some strategies developed in our own respective teaching to help students be more alert to the complex subjectivities Sancho inhabits, including foregrounding form and composition, exploring eighteenth-century inter-textuality, and moving away from the implicit promise that a literary survey course models anything like a comprehensive or totalizing account of the period

AI-Guided Cancer Therapy for Patients with Coexisting Migraines

Background: Cancer remains a leading cause of death worldwide. Progress in its effective treatment has been hampered by challenges in personalized therapy, particularly in patients with comorbid conditions. The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into patient profiling offers a promising approach to enhancing individualized anticancer therapy. Objective: This narrative review explores the role of AI in refining anticancer therapy through personalized profiling, with a specific focus on cancer patients with comorbid migraine. Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Studies were selected based on their relevance to AI applications in oncology and migraine management, with a focus on personalized medicine and predictive modeling. Key themes were synthesized to provide an overview of recent developments, challenges, and emerging directions. Results: AI technologies, such as machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and natural language processing (NLP), have become instrumental in the discovery of genetic and molecular biomarkers of cancer and migraine. These technologies also enable predictive analytics for assessing the impact of migraine on cancer therapy in comorbid cases, predicting outcomes and provide clinical decision support systems (CDSS) for real-time treatment adjustments. Conclusions: AI holds significant potential to improve the precision and effectiveness of the management and therapy of cancer patients with comorbid migraine. Nevertheless, challenges remain over data integration, clinical validation, and ethical consideration, which must be addressed to appreciate the full potential for the approach outlined herein

Responsible AI-Based Business Process Management and Improvement

    Get PDF
Organizations today seek to improve and adapt their business processes because of an increasingly competitive economy. The use and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for business process improvement and management is often discussed and put in place, regardless of its potentially negative impact if AI is implemented in the wrong way, especially around the processing and storing of personal data. We discuss the use of AI for the management and improvement of business processes, especially in the financial domain, and how to ensure responsible AI use in enterprises for this aim. We propose an information system design for responsible and trustworthy business processes, and we envision that businesses will need strong and well-defined control points in their information systems for managing processes and creating associated audits to enforce their principles. We define questions and challenges that companies will need to reflect upon and follow to achieve an application of responsible AI in an enterprise context. We also outline considerations for AI and data protection regulation for companies, while also considering the technical challenges that would need to be solved
