Golf players as a customer segment: the influence of handicap level and residency in customer satisfaction and expenditure
The objectives of the present research were: i) to analyze the influence on customer expenditure and satisfaction for an elite golf event based on the place of residence (local vs visitor) and handicap level of the attendants (spectator vs spectator-player) and ii) to establish a multivariate model that allows predicting the place of residence and the handicap based on the interaction of the analyzed variables and to establish a pattern of behaviour based on these variables for those attending an elite golf tournament. This research is based on descriptive and comparative analysis. A total of 756 participants were interviewed in the study, with an average age of 42,05 ± 15,77 years old. Approximately 7 out of 10 (70,5%; n=539) came from the Madrid metropolitan area and 73,9% (n=565) were handicap players. All the participants were interviewed during the 2021 edition of the ‘Acciona Open’ held in Madrid. An ad hoc survey was designed for the tournament. Statistical Analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25 ® software (IBM, Armonk, NY).Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
Effectiveness and tolerability of dolutegravir/lamivudine for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in clinical practice
Objectives
To assess the effectiveness and tolerability of dolutegravir (DTG)/lamivudine (3TC) among treatment-naive and virologically suppressed treatment-experienced individuals in the multicentre cohort of the Spanish HIV/AIDS Research Network (CoRIS) during the years 2018–2021.
Methods
We used multivariable regression models to compare viral suppression (VS) [HIV RNA viral load (VL) <50 copies/mL] and the change in CD4 cell counts at 24 and 48 (±12) weeks after initiation with dolutegravir/lamivudine or other first-line ART regimens.
Results
We included 2160 treatment-naive subjects, among whom 401 (18.6%) started with dolutegravir/lamivudine. The remaining subjects started bictegravir (BIC)/emtricitabine (FTC)/tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) (n = 949, 43.9%), DTG + FTC/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) (n = 282, 13.1%), DTG/3TC/abacavir (ABC) (n = 255, 11.8%), darunavir (DRV)/cobicistat(COBI)/FTC/TAF (n = 147, 6.8%) and elvitegravir (EVG)/COBI/FTC/TAF (n = 126, 5.8%). At 24 and 48 weeks after starting dolutegravir/lamivudine, 91.4% and 93.8% of the subjects, respectively, achieved VS. The probability of achieving VS with dolutegravir/lamivudine was not significantly different compared with any other regimen at 24 or 48 weeks, with the exception of a lower chance of achieving VS at 24 weeks for DRV/COBI/FTC/TAF (adjusted OR: 0.47; 95% CI: 0.30–0.74) compared with dolutegravir/lamivudine.
For the analysis of treatment-experienced virally suppressed subjects we included 1456 individuals who switched to dolutegravir/lamivudine, among whom 97.4% and 95.5% maintained VS at 24 and 48 weeks, respectively. During the first 48 weeks after dolutegravir/lamivudine initiation, 1.0% of treatment-naive and 1.5% of treatment-experienced subjects discontinued dolutegravir/lamivudine due to an adverse event.
Conclusions
In this large multicentre cohort, effectiveness and tolerability of dolutegravir/lamivudine were high among treatment-naive and treatment-experienced subjects.Instituto de Salud Carlos III through the Red Temática de Investigación Cooperativa en Sida (RD06/006, RD12/0017/0018 and RD16/0002/0006)5.2 Q1 JCR 20221.382 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2021UE

Validity and reliability of a new hip flexor muscles flexibility assessment tool: The reactive hip flexor (RHF) test
Background
The modified Thomas test is the most used and most reliable test to assess the hip flexors’ flexibility. However it does not evaluate the interaction of both legs. The objective of this study is to propose a new assessment tool for hip flexor flexibility, the Reactive Hip Flexion (RHF) Test.
Methods
An observational, intra-test, and test-retest study with repeated measures was carried out with the aim of assessing the validity and reliability of the RHF Test. The participants were males and females aged between 18 and 35 years old who had a training schedule of at least 2 days a week, without a musculoskeletal lower limb or lumbopelvic pathology. The reliability of the test was examined using the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) by a two-way random model to establish inter-rater reliability and a two-way mixed model to assess intra-rater reliability. The precision was measured by the standard error of measurement (SEM). In addition, the minimum detectable change (MDC95%) was calculated.
Results
Twenty-six participants (52 hips) (47% female) completed the study. No correlations were observed between anthropometric variables and RHF peak force or active knee extension (AKE) measurements. There was an excellent intra-rater and inter-rater ICC in the hip flexors’ reactive peak force and the AKE measurements, with a low SEM.
Conclusions
This study demonstrated that the proposed RHF test technique is valid and reliable when used in healthy youth population.Sin financiación2.4 Q2 JCR 20220.88 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Ambulatory anesthesia: restructuring for success
Purpose of review: We review current evidence about organizational structures, patient selection criteria, safety measures, economic considerations, quality management, and staffing challenges in ambulatory anesthesia. The focus is on the facilitators and barriers related to the peri-interventional period and the potential concepts and innovations for the future development of ambulatory anesthesia services.
Recent findings: Recent findings shed light on organizational structures in ambulatory anesthesia, including hospital-based centers, freestanding ambulatory centers, and office-based practices. Patient selection for ambulatory anesthesia involves a two-step process, considering both surgical and anesthetic factors. Safety measures, such as standardized guidelines and scoring systems, aim to ensure patient well being during the perioperative course. Economic considerations pose challenges due to the complexities of managing operating room efficiency and the variations in reimbursement systems. Quality management in ambulatory anesthesia emphasizes the need for outcome studies and patient-centered quality indicators. Staffing requirements necessitate highly skilled professionals with both technical and nontechnical skills, and structured education and training are essential.
Summary: Ambulatory anesthesia is gaining importance due to advancements in surgical techniques and peri-interventional care. The review highlights the need for addressing challenges related to organizational structures, patient selection, patient safety, economic considerations, quality management, and staffing in ambulatory anesthesia. Understanding and addressing these factors are crucial for promoting the further development and improvement of ambulatory anesthesia services.Sin financiación2.5 Q3 JCR 20220.566 Q2 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Ecologías Fragmentadas :: Contaminación Hídrica (42º30´52´´N; 0º21´6´´W)
Infectious agents present in monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) and rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri) invasive species in parks of Madrid and Seville, Spain
Introduction: The introduction of invasive species into an ecosystem could result in biodiversity loss and the spread of infectious agents that could cause re-emergent or emergent zoonotic diseases. Monk parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus) and rose-ringed parakeets (Psittacula krameri) are considered widespread invasive exotic species in urban habitats from the Iberian Peninsula. The aim of this study was to assess the presence of relevant infectious agents in wild parakeets captured in urban parks in Madrid and Seville (Spain).
Methods: A total of 81 cloacal samples were collected and analysed using molecular techniques.
Results: The prevalence of infectious agents varied between parakeet species: 9.5% of monk parakeets and 15% of rose-ringed parakeets were positive for enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), 13.3% of rose-ringed parakeets for avian influenza virus (AIV), 3.3% of rose-ringed parakeets for Newcastle disease virus (NDV), and a 23.8% of monk parakeets for Chlamydia psittaci.
Discussion: All C. psittaci-identified isolates were classified as B, E, or E/B genotypes, indicating transmission from wild urban pigeons to parakeets. These results highlight the need for monitoring parakeet populations due to the implications for human and animal health.Sin financiación3.2 Q1 JCR 20220.737 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Effects of a Gait Training Program on Spinal Cord Injury Patients: A Single-Group Prospective Cohort Study
Introduction: Spinal cord injury is defined as the pathological process produced by any etiology affecting the spinal cord, which may alter motor, sensory, and/or autonomic function below the level of the lesion. The complexity of the neurological deficit and, therefore, the resulting clinical picture depends on the level of the lesion, the extent, and the affectation of the white or gray substance. This injury can totally or partially affect the ability to walk, and its highest priority with respect to mobility is to restore the ability to walk. All of which make the improvement of the methods used in their rehabilitation a top priority for health systems. Objective: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a gait training program for patients with spinal cord injuries. Material and Methods: A single-group, prospective cohort study was developed following the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology Guidelines (STROBE) at the International Center for Neurological Restoration of Siboney Playa (Havana, Cuba) from May 2020 to July 2021 with a sample of 30 patients by accidental or deliberate non-probabilistic sampling that met the expected inclusion criteria, who underwent a physical rehabilitation program for 8 weeks of work. Results: Statistically significant changes were observed in the overall course, by sex, by topographic level of lesion, and by functional class. Conclusions: The gait training program used produced significant changes in thoracic spinal cord injured patients regardless of the level of injury, sex, or functional class of the patient.Sin financiación3.9 Q2 JCR 20220.935 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Avian malaria in House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) populations in anthropized areas of Valencian Community, Spain
The House Sparrow (Passer domesticus) is one of the most common birds in anthropized environments in almost all areas of the world. Despite this, since the last century a significant population decline has been recorded in most regions. The causes of this decline are attributed to agricultural intensification, land use changes, predation by invasive species,
or diseases. Avian malaria, caused by parasites of the genus Plasmodium, is considered one of the possible causes of the decline, mainly in urban and suburban areas. It has also been shown that the population growth rate is inversely proportional to the intensity of infection. In this work carried out in the Valencian Community, the percentage of avian malaria infection in Sparrows in urban, suburban, and rural areas has been measured. In addition, the relationship between the presence of the parasite and age, sex, type of area
(urban or rural) and the scaled mass index (SMI) as an indicator of the body condition of the individuals was studied. The infection percentage was 11.9%, and no significant variables were found in the model.Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
