The Soundscape and Listening as an Approach to Sensuous Urbanism: The Case of Puerta del Sol (Madrid)
This article focuses on the placemaking process and experimental research on the citizens’ assessment of the
soundscape in Puerta del Sol in Madrid. Numerous studies conducted in recent decades have shown that
sound is a crucial element capable of providing new insights into the relationship between human beings and
the environment. Sound possesses physical‐sensory‐perceptual qualities which connect the emotional and
the rational aspects of the experience of the place, overcoming the aesthetic/scientific duality. By default, the
soundscape is the result of a collective production. It is the resonant expression of the multiple activities and
uses that inhabit a space. The soundscape of everyday life provides a vision of life in a particular place, giving
meaning and a singular character to the fact of living there. The concept and methods of the soundscape
arise from sensitive experiences of the place in direct relation to a community. This exploratory research
focused on in situ methods (soundwalks, improvised interview mappings, sound archives, performances, and
collective sound actions) as expressions of collective listening to place. This article also focuses on how to map
and share the result of this research, the technology to build a collective digital place as a place of confluence

ARCA A MARTE: Hipótesis y pareidolias arquitectónicas. Humanos vs IA
Este experimento docente combinado enfrenta dos modos de pensamiento y creación gráfica arquitectónica complementarios para visibilizar el rol de la IA en la generación de proyectos de arquitectura y compararlos con los modos generativos humanos.
ARCA A MARTE tiene 2 fases: En la fase 1, se plantea la situación simulada de una catástrofe climática que destruye la tierra y necesita de una intervención de arquitectos para crear una biocápsula que mantenga con vida a algunas especies. En la fase 2, la solución parte de la minimización del ser humano como resistencia a la falta de alimentos, por lo que se explora el ejercicio en lo que se llama MACROFOTOGRAFÍAS HABITADAS como una experiencia complementaria que se dirige en sentido metodológico contrario, y que parte de la arquitectura del no-lugar y carente de función para extraer una arquitectura hipotética de un imaginario morfológico basado en una macrofotografía con un ejercicio de pareidolia.
En estos dos procesos creativos de generación arquitectónica se enfrentan los ejercicios realizados por el ser humano estudiante de la UEM y la IA, para extraer conclusiones que aporten a las pedagogías y experiencias docentes en esta Era.Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
Formación en metodología de simulación para profesores: avances y expansión
Introducción: Este estudio evalúa el modelo de formación docente en simulación implementado en la Universidad Europea y su impacto en la calidad de la enseñanza. La simulación es una metodología educativa efectiva en diversos campos, que mejora las competencias docentes y la preparación profesional (Gaba, 2004; Lateef, 2010). Método: Se utilizó una encuesta de satisfacción dirigida a 341 docentes del nivel de instructor y 240 del nivel de diseñador, con tasas de respuesta del 47.5% y 36.3%, respectivamente. Resultados: Indican una alta satisfacción general con la formación. En el nivel de instructor, los participantes valoraron positivamente los objetivos y materiales (media de 4,62), la metodología (media de 4,56) y la estructura del curso (media de 4,60). En el nivel de diseñador, los objetivos y materiales obtuvieron una media de 4,40, y la metodología fue bien valorada con una media de 4,47. La satisfacción con el formador fue alta en ambos niveles (medias de 4,60 y 4,76). Discusión: La formación en simulación es eficaz y bien recibida, aunque se identifican áreas de mejora en la aplicabilidad práctica de los contenidos. La continua inversión en la calidad de los formadores es esencial para mantener y mejorar la enseñanza en simulación.Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
Introducción y adecuación del aprendizaje experiencial y la simulación realista en asignaturas teóricas del grado de psicología
La vivencia realista de situaciones vinculadas a la práctica laboral para la que un alumnado se está formando deriva en un aprendizaje profesionalizante optimizado, fortaleciendo la seguridad de estos en la realización de tareas propias de lo impartido, y las competencias necesarias que los y las estudiantes requieren adquirir. Por ello, y siguiendo criterios de innovación docente, se han implementado actividades prácticas y simulaciones, basadas en el aprendizaje experiencial significativo, en varias asignaturas de, hasta ahora, mayor peso teórico, del Grado de Psicología de la Universidad Europea de Madrid, con el objetivo de impactar positivamente en el aprendizaje y futuro desempeño profesional del alumnado. Para ello, se aprovechan los espacios y logística del Hospital Simulado de las instalaciones del Campus de Villaviciosa de Odón (Madrid). Los resultados de satisfacción y participación son altamente exitosos y permiten extraer, como conclusiones principales, la necesidad de incrementar esta metodología de formación en tiempo, espacio, recursos y materias donde ser implementadas.Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
Exploring the biological properties and bioaccessibility of orange peel extracts using deep eutectic systems
The ability to recover bio-compounds from by-products offers a significant chance for their use as bio-additives in the food industry. Carotenoids are known for their properties as antioxidants, antimicrobials, and food colorants. In the present study, the potential of hydrophobic natural deep eutectic systems (HDES) for the revalorization of orange peels was explored. Extracts were obtained, and their biological properties were evaluated in vitro, such as cytotoxicity, antiproliferative capacity, antioxidant capacity, and antimicrobial potential against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. To support the potential application of orange peel – HDES extract as a functional ingredient or food additive, INFOGEST in vitro static digestion was performed. The results showed that Octanoic acid: Proline (C8:Pro) extract and Menthol: Eucalypthol (Me:Eu) had higher selective index meaning that these HDES have a higher selectivity towards human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell lines. Also, C8:Pro showed a higher carotenoid extraction yield extracting 168 μg/100 g of lutein with ORAC value of 34.8 mM TE. In general, just C8:Pro extract showed inhibition against both bacteria. Bioaccessibility of β-cryptoxanthin was enhanced in C8:Pro extract in 10.1%, indicating high stability during gastrointestinal digestion. Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ethnification of the Citizenry
Despite the almost millenary territorial continuity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country has suffered constant and deliberate historical obstructions of denial of its statehood due to its status as a multiethnic republic. The three majority groups that make up the territory – Serbs of Orthodox faith, Croats of Catholic faith, and Muslims – coexisted united until war broke down in 1992, a tragedy whose trigger was the ethnic ideology of identity populism that had been forged in the previous years and would become innate for the following generations. Ecophobia and social class identity: an ecocritical approach to the nature/culture divide in Oscar Wilde’s fairy tales “The Young King” and “The Star Child”
This article applies an ecocritical approach to the analysis of the nature/culture divide in Oscar Wilde’s “The Young King” and “The Star-Child”. These two tales contrast the realm of nature, embodied in the forest, and the realm of civilisation, represented by the city. Both stories focus on the protagonists’ journey from wilderness to the city, where not only do they need to become civilised subjects, but they are expected to govern as kings. This physical journey is matched by an internal one since both characters simultaneously undergo a transition from an animal-like state to a human one. I argue that these tales’ use of the nature/culture and animal/human dichotomies is closely connected to Wilde’s reflections about the Victorian social class system included in The Soul of Man under Socialism. Class struggle is indeed a major preoccupation in traditional folktales, where protagonists tend to magically escape from an initial disadvantaged position. Applying an ecocritical perspective to “The Young King” and “The Star-Child” helps to illustrate how these two tales manage to question the legitimacy of the hierarchical social structure by blurring the lines that separate the civilised subject from the animal one.Sin Financiación0.2 Q* JCR 20230.18 Q1 SJR 2023No data IDR 2023UE
LiteBIRD science goals and forecasts: improving sensitivity to inflationary gravitational waves with multitracer delensing
We estimate the efficiency of mitigating the lensing B-mode polarization, the so-called delensing, for the LiteBIRD experiment with multiple external data sets of lensing-mass tracers. The current best bound on the tensor-to-scalar ratio, r, is limited by lensing rather than Galactic foregrounds. Delensing will be a critical step to improve sensitivity to r as measurements of r become more and more limited by lensing. In this paper, we extend the analysis of the recent LiteBIRD forecast paper to include multiple mass tracers, i.e., the CMB lensing maps from LiteBIRD and CMB-S4-like experiment, cosmic infrared background, and galaxy number density from Euclid- and LSST-like survey. We find that multi-tracer delensing will further improve the constraint on r by about 20%. In LiteBIRD, the residual Galactic foregrounds also significantly contribute to uncertainties of the B-modes, and delensing becomes more important if the residual foregrounds are further reduced by an improved component separation method.JP15H05891JP17H01115JP17H011255.3 Q1 JCR 20230.932 Q2 SJR 2023No data IDR 2023UE
LiteBIRD science goals and forecasts: a full-sky measurement of gravitational lensing of the CMB
We explore the capability of measuring lensing signals in LiteBIRD full-sky polarization maps. With a 30 arcmin beam width and an impressively low polarization noise of 2.16 μK-arcmin,LiteBIRD will be able to measure the full-sky polarization of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) very precisely. This unique sensitivity also enables the reconstruction of a nearly full-sky lensing map using only polarization data, even considering its limited capability to capture small-scale CMB anisotropies. In this paper, we investigate the ability to construct a full-sky lensing measurement in the presence of Galactic foregrounds, finding that several possible biases from Galactic foregrounds should be negligible after component separation by harmonic-space internal linear combination. We find that the signal-to-noise ratio of the lensing is approximately 40 using only polarization data measured over 80% of the sky. This achievement is comparable to Planck's recent lensing measurement with both temperature and polarization and represents a four-fold improvement over Planck's polarization-only lensing measurement.
