Effects of perceived stress and mood states on sleep quality in University students during pandemic context
This study aimed to explore how perceived stress predicted sleep quality using mood states and student characteristics (age, gender, and physical activity performed) as moderators. One-hundred seventy-eight university students (Mage = 21.8 years; SD = 3.8; 40.4% women and 59.6% men) responded to questionnaires about their perceived stress, mood states, and sleep quality in March 2021. Negative and positive mood states, age, and physical activity significantly moderated the relationship between perceived stress and sleep quality. Being older (21-24 years) and perceiving negative mood states affected negatively as the perceived stress influenced leading to poor sleep quality. In contrast, positive mood states and performing more than 10 hours of physical activity weekly improve the relationship, in the way that stress affected lees to sleep quality. Considering the importance of sleep for university students’ well-being, this study brings insights into how university students could improve their sleep quality by regulating their mood states and adapting their lifestyles. Also, consultants and university counsellors should be aware that older students and women may be more sensitive to suffering sleep problems due to stress.Sin FinanciaciónNo data JCR 2023; No data SJR 2023; 0,24 C3 IDR 202
Process of change and efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for anxiety and depression symptoms in adolescents: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Introduction
Recent literature suggests that acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) may be an effective approach for treating symptoms of depression and anxiety symptoms in adolescents. This review meta-analyzes the efficacy of ACT on adolescent depression and anxiety, emphasizing the role of process variables (i.e., psychological flexibility).
Methods
We systematically searched MedLine, PsycInfo and Scopus for randomized controlled trials (RCT) investigating the effect of ACT on anxiety/depression in adolescents. Studies were combined using the inverse variance method in a random effects model. Additional subgroup and meta-regression analyses were performed, and risk of bias was assessed. The review was pre-registered (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42023483300).
Results
Our review included 27 RCTs with a total of 2860 participants. ACT did not outperform CBT but was significantly more effective than other active controls (e.g., treatment as usual) for depression symptoms and inactive controls for all outcomes. ACT was more effective than inactive controls for all outcomes. Improvements in psychological flexibility significantly predicted reductions in between-group depression and anxiety. Younger age and a higher percentage of women predicted better outcomes for some outcomes.
Limitations
It should be noted that this results may be limited by the fact that all included studies were rated as having a high risk of bias. This is mainly due to the self-reported nature of the measures and the lack of crucial methodological information (e.g., process of randomization and allocation, treatment fidelity assessment).
Conclusion
Our findings support ACT's efficacy for adolescents, particularly in treating depression symptoms. The proposed mechanism of change (psychological flexibility) plays a significant role in the improvements. ACT is comparable in efficacy to CBT, suggesting its potential as an alternative to traditional cognitive-behavioral approaches.Sin Financiación4.9 Q1 JCR 20232.082 Q1 SJR 2023No data IDR 2023UE
New Approach on I.40 Migration Projects Using Agile Concurrent Methodology
The industry worldwide is undergoing continual changes owing to the emergence of new technologies and the globalization. Industry 4.0 is transforming the way things are done at the industrial level, and combined with the advancements in communication networks and the internet, it enables complete digitization of manufacturing processes. Nevertheless, the lack of appropriate management procedures and methodologies is hindering the implementation of digitization solutions, making it difficult to simplify requirements analysis and the incorporation of improvements using I4.0. Based on a literature review, the most crucial characteristics of migration projects have been identified, which are based on the I4.0 enablers. Currently, any technological system migration requires the use of an appropriate management methodology, which either replaces or complements the conventional. In this research proposes a new agile concurrent methodological procedure that relies on concurrent engineering and adapted Scrum to execute technology migration projects based on I4.0 enablers. It will be easy to applied in three level of management, and giving a faster and more efficient technology migration. Other benefits are a short periodic feedback for error correction, cross-functional teams, and simple implementation.Sin financiaciónSPI 2022UE
Training in social entrepreneurship using educational videos: description of two different learning experiences
Due to the situation caused worldwide by the pandemic, many
people´s habits and ways of life have been modified. One of the main changes
is related to high university learning, which has gone from being face-to-face,
to telematics in many cases. This has led to changes in the teaching
methodologies and, of course, in the learning resources used by the staff. This
paper aims to show, through real experiences developed in two different
universities in Madrid, the benefits and the generation of value that the use of
information and communication technologies (ICT)-specifically focused on the
generation and sharing of teaching videos on social entrepreneurship can
contribute to on-line university education. Teaching social entrepreneurship
should be based on active learning methodologies and through the interaction
between theory and practice. We consider especially important that young
university students acquire the entrepreneurial spirit linked with ethical
behaviour at work and corporate social responsibility. The experience described
in this paper show that these resources from ICT – especially educational
videos are appropriate for the teaching of social entrepreneurship in the XXIst
century under uncertain conditions.Sin financiaciónNo data JCR 20220.180 Q4 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Comparison of green solvents for the revalorization of orange by-products: carotenoid extraction and in vitro antioxidant activity
Orange peels contain a considerable number of bioactive compounds such as carotenoids, that can be used as ingredients in high-value products. The aim of this study was to compare orange peel extracts obtained with different green solvents (vegetable oils, fatty acids, and deep eutectic solvents (DES)). In addition, the chemical characterization of a new hydrophobic DES formed by octanoic acid and l-proline (C8:Pro) was performed. The extracts were compared in terms of carotenoid extraction, antioxidant activity by three methods, color, and environmental impact. The results confirmed that the mixture of C8:Pro is a DES and showed the highest carotenoid extraction (46.01 µg/g) compared to hexane (39.28 µg/g). The antioxidant activity was also the highest in C8:Pro (2438.8 µM TE/mL). Finally, two assessment models were used to evaluate the greenness and sustainability of the proposed extractions. These results demonstrated the potential use of orange peels in the circular economy and industry.Ministry of Science and Innovation (Spain) -State Research Agency (PID- 2019-111331RB-I00)Ministry of Science and Innovation (Spain) -State Research Agency (AEI/10.13039/501100011033)Ministry of Education of the Republic of Peru (PRONABEC)8.8 Q1 JCR 20221.624 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Familial clustering of coronary anomalies identified through the RAC sign
derecha y seno derecho; CI: seno coronariano izquierdo; Cx: arteria circunfleja; DA: descendente anterior; NC: seno no coronariano).
IPVAW male perpetrators convicted in Spain: a typology and characterization based on latent class analysis
Introduction: Men who assault their partners present deficits in the social
skills necessary for adequate interpersonal interaction. Not all of them have
the same difficulties, thus they do not constitute a homogeneous group.
Various studies have proposed different typologies of abusers based on their
sociodemographic characteristics, criminal history, intensity and extent of
violent or psychopathological traits. The majority of these investigations have
been conducted in community samples, prompting the question of their validity
in samples of men convicted of gender violence. The aim of this study was to
establish a typology of men convicted in Spain for a gender violences crimes.
Methodology: A total of 365 men participated and were subdivided into three
classes of abusers based on their childhood, family experiences with violence,
criminal history, sexist attitudes and attitudes toward violence, intensity and type
of violence, psychopathological state and attachment style.
Results: Coinciding with the results found in other research, 30% of the
participants were classified as generally violent. They engaged in severe forms
of physical, psychological and sexual violence and were more likely to do so
than the rest. Additionally, they are more likely to present psychopathological
problems and an antisocial character. Twenty-one percent were classified as
dysphoric/borderline. They are characterized by minor forms of psychological
violence, borderline or depressive symptomatology and an anxious attachment
style. The remaining 49% were classified as familial or normalized abusers. This
group exhibits moderate attitudes toward violence and sexism, resulting in less
psychological and physical aggression. They do not present psychopathological
problems and are likely to present a secure attachment style.
Discussion: It is argued that determining the psychological characteristics of
each type of abuser would contribute to improving and adapting intervention
protocols in Spain, leading to a significant improvement in the current issue of
abuse. The 2020 call for Industrial Doctorates in the Community of Madrid (IND2020/SOC-17490)3.8 Q1 JCR 20220.8 Q2 SJR 2023No data IDR 2022UE

Analyses of relational coherence and rule following: Consistent liars are preferred over occasional truth tellers
The current study explored the influence of different levels of speaker coherence on rule following and speaker preference. In Experiment 1, rules provided by three different speakers were either 100% accurate, 0% accurate, or 50% accurate/inaccurate. Experiment 2 was similar to Experiment 1 except that the speaker's coherence was adjusted to 80% accurate, 20% accurate, and 50% accurate/inaccurate, respectively. Overall, participants tended to follow coherent speaker rules and avoid following incoherent speaker rules during training and testing phases. The results also indicated that following and not following rules provided by speakers may be generalizable to novel stimuli and maintained in the absence of differential reinforcement (i.e., in experimental test phases). Additionally, in a preference test, participants tended to prefer coherent over incoherent and partially coherent speakers. Furthermore, participants tended to prefer the relatively more incoherent speaker (i.e., 0% or 20% accurate) over the 50% accurate coherent speaker in both experiments. Finally, a comparison of the results of both experiments indicated that different levels of relational coherence affected the variability of rule-following and speaker preference behaviors. These findings are discussed in the context of the complexities that appear to be involved in rule-following behaviors and speaker preference. So Paulo Research Foundation2.7 Q2 JCR 20220.807 Q2 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE
Is trimodal therapy the current standard for muscle-invasive bladder cancer?
Objective:The aim of this review is to summarize the current evidence and future perspectives of bladder-sparing treatment for MIBC.Methods: A non-systematic literature search in Medline/Pubmed was performed in October 2023 with the following keywords ‘bladder cancer’, ‘bladder-sparing’, ‘trimodal therapy’, ‘chemoradiation’, ‘biomarkers’, ‘immunotherapy’, ‘neoadjuvant chemotherapy’, ‘radiotherapy’.Results: Urology guidelines recommend radical cystectomy as the standard curative treatment for muscle-invasive urothelial bladder cancer, reserving radiotherapy for patients who are unfit or who want to maintain their bladder. Given the morbidity and mortality of cystectomy and its impact on quality of life and bladder function, modern oncologic therapies are increasingly geared toward organ preservation and maximizing functional outcomes while maintaining treatment efficacy. Trimodal therapy, which incorporates maximal transurethral resection followed by radiotherapy with concurrent radiosensitizing chemotherapy, is an effective regimen for bladder function preservation in well-selected patients. Despite the absence of comparative data from randomized trials, the two approaches seem to provide comparable oncologic outcomes.Studies are evaluating the expansion of eligibility criteria for trimodal therapy, the optimization of radiotherapy and immunotherapy delivery to further improve outcomes, and the validation of biomarkers to guide bladder preservation. Conclusions: Trimodal therapy has shown acceptable outcomes for bladder preservation; therefore, it provides a valid treatment option in well-selected patients.Sin financiación1.1 JCR Q4 20220.308 SJR Q3 2022No data IDR 2022UE
