The light at CajaGranada Headquarters: a research
Alberto Campo Baeza ha defendido en diversas ocasiones la siguiente máxima: "proyectar es investigar". El presente artículo pretende, tras una breve explicación de dicho enunciado, examinar si el arquitecto ha sido coherente con el mismo.
Para ello, se propone un ejemplo, un proceso de trabajo conducido directamente por Campo Baeza: el tratamiento de la luz mientras desarrollaba la idea fundamental para su proyecto de la Sede Central de la Caja General de Ahorros de Granada.
Será posible reconstruir ese proceso valiéndonos de los dibujos, planos y fotografías de maqueta que el arquitecto ha conservado. Se observará cuál es la actitud de fondo con que Campo Baeza afronta su labor, la apertura a explorar una gran abanico de posibilidades, sus reflexiones, y la comprobación a que somete su trabajo.The renowned architect Alberto Campo Baeza has often upheld the following maxim: "to design is to investigate". This article intends, after a brief explanation of this statement, to examine whether the architect has been consistent with it.
To do so, an example is proposed, a work process led directly by Campo Baeza: the treatment of light while developing the main idea far his project far the Central Headquarters of Caja General de Ahorros de Granada.

Materials for Clear Aligners—A Comprehensive Exploration of Characteristics and Innovations: A Scoping Review
Introduction: Transparent orthodontic aligners have revolutionized dentistry and orthodon- tics since the 1990s, offering advantages over traditional fixed appliances in terms of hygiene, comfort, and aesthetics. With the increasing demand for invisible orthodontic treatments, clear aligners have gained popularity, prompting research into materials to enhance their efficacy and performance. Ma- terials and Methods: A scoping review was conducted using electronic databases (Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Scopus) to identify studies on clear aligner materials published in the last decade. Selection criteria focused on studies specific to dental materials, excluding those unrelated to materials or clear aligners. Results: The review included 11 relevant studies evaluating 17 different clear aligner materials. Materials such as polyvinyl chloride derivatives, thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU), and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) were commonly used. The studies assessed mechanical, physical, chemical, and optical properties, as well as thermoforming effects, stress decay, and surface characteristics. Discussion and Conclusions: Various materials exhib- ited distinct properties, with PETG materials offering transparency and flexibility, while TPU-based materials like Smart Track providing durability and elasticity. Thermoforming affected mechanical properties, with both PETG and TPU materials showing decreased efficacy post-thermoforming. Polymer blending improved mechanical properties, but variations existed among different brands and materials. Clear aligner materials exhibit diverse characteristics, influencing their suitability for orthodontic use. PETG-based materials offer transparency and flexibility, while TPU-based materials provide durability and elasticity. A Quantitative Assessment Approach to Implement Pneumatic Waste Collection System Using a New Expert Decision Matrix Related to UN SDGs
An innovative decision matrix has been developed to guide the selection and implementation of Pneumatic Urban Solid Waste Collection Systems (PUSWCS) in smart city projects. This study comprehensively collects and analyzes data on the advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic collection systems from technical, economic, and social perspectives. A decision-making tool was created to address the complexities of evaluating the desirability of incorporating PUSWCS in municipalities or specific areas, using a holistic approach. The tool assesses the technical, economic, and social feasibility of implementing PUSWCS, aligning it with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specific variables are measured to assess compliance with the SDGs, distinguishing technical aspects from economic and social aspects. The methodology includes surveys of system users and technicians, expert assessments, and the development of a decision matrix that cross-references study variables and SDGs. The matrix assigns numerical values to the Magnitude (M) and Impact (I) of each variable, enabling quantitative interpretation. This holistic approach accommodates the complexities of waste management and diverse stakeholder perspectives. The results demonstrate the matrix’s effectiveness in accurately assessing the desirability of implementing PUSWCS. This confirms the matrix’s ability to optimally integrate with innovative smart city concepts and align with long-term sustainability goals. The occurrence of cognitive changes in patients following anesthesia and surgery has been acknowledged for over a century.1 It is estimated that by 2030, the number of overall surgical procedures in two-thirds of the world’s countries will reach over 5000 surgeries per 100,000 population.2 In addition to the general rise in the global surgical needs, the population is experiencing an aging transformation, which increases the proportion of frail people whose mental health is at risk of being compromised. Relative Age Effect on basketball. The case of Chinese professional basketball players
The Relative Age (RA) consists of an asymmetry in the birth distribution, involving an overrepresentation of people born in the first months of the year playing different activities. Out of Europe, the background and research on this topic are not as consistent, especially in the sports field. China hosts the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), which is the main basketball league in Asia. Thus, in the present study, we analyzed the existence of the Relative Age in the CBA during the season 2017/2018. Participants were professional basketball players who participated in the competition (n=318) with an average age of 26.98 ± 4.18 years. The existence of RA was found for all players analyzed (p<0.001). Analyzing the players by their position on the pitch, RA was found at point guards and shooting guards (p<0.001). The greater existence of RA on these positions could be explained by the specific physical and performance requirements of point guards and shooting guards.
Our results suggest that China is not an exception in the existing bias about the selection of talent based on the date of birth of players, which generates unequal opportunities in early categories.El Efecto de la Edad Relativa (RAE) consiste en una asimetría en la distribución de la natalidad, que implica una sobrerrepresentación de las personas nacidas en los primeros meses del año. Fuera de Europa, los antecedentes y la investigación sobre este tema no son tan consistentes, especialmente en el campo deportivo. China alberga la Asociación China de Baloncesto (CBA), que es la principal liga de baloncesto de Asia. Así, en el presente estudio analizamos la existencia del Efecto de la Edad Relativa (RAE) en la CBA durante la temporada 2017/2018. Los participantes fueron jugadores profesionales de baloncesto que tomaron parte de dicha competición (n=318) con una edad promedio de 26,98 ± 4,18 años. Se constató la existencia de RAE para todos los jugadores. Analizando a los jugadores por su posición en el campo, se encontró RAE en bases y escoltas (p<0,001). El mayor efecto RAE en estas posiciones podría explicarse por los requisitos físicos y de rendimiento específicos de los bases y escoltas. Beyond femininity or masculinity: gender typologies and healthy eating in early adulthood
Purpose
In the field of health sciences gender is often confused with biological sex (male/female) or reduced to a dichotomous classification (masculinity/femininity). The concepts of sex and gender interact with each other, but they are not equivalent. According to Sandra Bem four gender typologies can be established (androgynous, masculine, feminine and undifferentiated).
A relationship has been shown to exist between gender and health. Yet, there is little evidence as to the relationship between gender typologies and adherence to the Mediterranean diet. The aim of this research is to evaluate the association between Bem’s gender typologies and adherence to the Mediterranean diet.
Methods
Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS) and Bem’s gender typologies were the main variables. Sex, age, socioeconomic status (SES), body mass index (BMI) and obesity were analyzed as covariates.
Results
Multilevel multivariate analysis showed that androgynous typology was associated with increased adherence to Mediterranean diet (β = 0.46 (SE 0.21), p = 0.033), adjusting by covariates, in a university population in Spain. Moreover, this was not the case with masculinity or femininity typologies.
Conclusion
Thus, the results of this study suggest (1) that androgynous typology is not only associated with better mental health but also with healthy/healthier lifestyles, and (2) the complexity of the relationship between sex-gender and health would advise researchers avoid dichotomies such as male/female or masculinity/femininity.Sin financiación5.0 Q2 JCR 20221.094 Q1 SJR 2022No data IDR 2022UE

Pedagogy Wheel for Artificial Intelligence: adaptation of Carrington's Wheel
La integración efectiva de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA) en la educación es necesaria para aprovechar sus beneficios en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Este artículo propone la adaptación de la Rueda de la Pedagogía de Carrington a una Rueda de la Pedagogía para la IA, con el fin de ofrecer un marco pedagógico para integrar la IA en la educación. La metodología de investigación utilizada se basa en una revisión y mapeo sistemático junto a un estudio bibliométrico del análisis de co-ocurrencia de términos para identificar los clusters temáticos relevantes que respalden científicamente la necesidad de la adaptación de la Rueda. La nueva rueda atiende a los cuatro clusters obtenidos (Integración de la IA para mejorar la educación, Uso de tecnologías educativa en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, Diseño e innovación pedagógica y Educación Sostenible y Ética) y presenta anillos concéntricos que explican cómo incorporar gradualmente la IA en diferentes niveles cognitivos (Taxonomía de Bloom) e integración tecnológica (Modelo SAMR) ambos adaptados a la IA, con ejemplos de herramientas y aplicaciones. Además, se incluye un nivel Reflexivo-Metacognitivo que aborda la ética y responsabilidad en el uso de la IA. En conclusión, la rueda adaptada a la IA es una opción viable para mejorar la eficacia y eficiencia de la educación, con la condición de que los docentes participen en la planificación y ejecución del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje para garantizar su éxito. Cabe mencionar la importancia de mantener la rueda actualizada debido a la aparición constante de nuevas aplicaciones.The effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is necessary to harness its benefits in the teaching and learning process. This article proposes the adaptation of Carrington's Pedagogy Wheel into an AI Pedagogy Wheel, aiming to provide a pedagogical framework for integrating AI in education. The research methodology employed is based on a systematic review and mapping, coupled with a bibliometric study of term co-occurrence analysis, to identify relevant thematic clusters that scientifically support the need for the adaptation of the Wheel. The new wheel addresses the four obtained clusters (Integration of AI to enhance education, Use of educational technologies in the teaching and learning process, Pedagogical design and innovation, and Sustainable and Ethical Education) and presents concentric rings that explain how to gradually incorporate AI across different cognitive levels (Bloom's Taxonomy) and technological integration (SAMR Model), both adapted for AI. It includes examples of tools and applications to illustrate the implementation. Furthermore, a Reflective-Metacognitive level is included that addresses ethics and responsibility in the use of AI. In conclusion, the wheel adapted to AI is a viable option to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of education, provided that educators engage in the planning and execution of the teaching and learning process to ensure its success. Pronóstico del trasplante cardiaco en pacientes con miocardiopatía hipertrófica y restrictiva. Análisis de un registro nacional
Introduction and objectives: Posttransplant outcomes among recipients with a diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) or restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) remain controversial. Methods: Retrospective analysis of a nationwide registry of first-time recipients undergoing isolated heart transplant between 1984 and 2021. One-year and 5-year mortality in recipients with HCM and RCM were compared with those with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Results: We included 3703 patients (3112 DCM; 331 HCM; 260 RCM) with a median follow-up of 5.0 [3.1-5.0] years. Compared with DCM, the adjusted 1-year mortality risk was: HCM: HR, 1.38; 95%CI, 1.07-1.78; P = .01, RCM: HR, 1.48; 95%CI, 1.14-1.93; P = .003. The adjusted 5-year mortality risk was: HCM: HR, 1.17; 95%CI, 0.93-1.47; P = .18; RCM: HR, 1.52; 95%CI, 1.22-1.89; P < .001. Over the last 20 years, the RCM group showed significant improvement in 1-year survival (adjusted R2 = 0.95) and 5-year survival (R2 = 0.88); the HCM group showed enhanced the 5-year survival (R2 = 0.59), but the 1-year survival remained stable (R2 = 0.16). Conclusions: Both RCM and HCM were linked to a less favorable early posttransplant prognosis compared with DCM. However, at the 5-year mark, this unfavorable difference was evident only for RCM. Notably, a substantial temporal enhancement in both early and late mortality was observed for RCM, while for HCM, this improvement was mainly evident in late mortality.Introducción y objetivos: Existe controversia acerca de los resultados del trasplante cardiaco en pacientes con miocardiopatía hipertrófica (MCH) o restrictiva (MCR).
Métodos: Análisis retrospectivo de receptores adultos de un primer trasplante cardiaco entre 1984 y 2021 incluidos en un registro nacional. La mortalidad al primer y quinto año postrasplante en receptores con MCH y MCR se comparó con la de receptores con miocardiopatía dilatada (MCD).
Resultados: Se incluyó a 3.703 pacientes (3.112 MCD; 331 MCH y 260 MCR) con seguimiento mediano de 5,0 años (3,1-5,0). En comparación con la MCD, el riesgo ajustado de mortalidad a 1 año fue: MCH: hazard ratio (HR)=1,38; intervalo de confianza del 95% (IC95%), 1,07-1,78; p=0,01, MCR: HR=1,48; IC95%, 1,14-1,93; p=0,003. El riesgo ajustado a 5 años fue: MCH: HR=1,17; IC95%, 0,93-1,47; p=0,18; MCR: HR=1,52; IC95%, 1,22-1,89; p<0,001. En los últimos 20 años, la MCR mejoró significativamente la supervivencia a 1 año (R2 ajustada=0,95) y a 5 años (R2=0,88); la MCH mejoró la supervivencia a 5 años (R2=0,59) y a 1 año permaneció estable (R2=0,16).
Conclusiones: Se asoció la MCR y la MCH a peor pronóstico precoz postrasplante que la MCD. La diferencia desfavorable se mantuvo para la supervivencia a 5 años solo para la MCR.
