    Analysis of Student Academic Performance Using Random Forest and Support Vector Machines

    Assessing student academic performance objectively remains a challenge at SMP Negeri 16 Bogor due to diverse internal and external factors in student records. This study aims to compare the classification performance of the Random Forest and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms using a dataset of 403 students containing demographic, socioeconomic, and school-related attributes. Although the attributes are not traditional academic indicators (e.g., assignment or exam scores), they are used to explore whether non-academic features can contribute to predictive models. Following data preprocessing—handling missing values, encoding categorical variables, and managing class imbalance—both algorithms were evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and confusion matrix analysis. Results show that SVM outperforms Random Forest with 78.00% accuracy, 89.98% precision, and 70.24% recall. These findings indicate that SVM is more robust for imbalanced classification tasks and can provide useful insights even when academic-performance labels are predicted from non-academic attributes

    ASEAN-4 -China FDI and Vertical Intra-Industry Trade Links Amid the US-China Trade War—A Spatial Panel Analysis

    The global trade landscape has been reshaped by complex production networks, leading to the international fragmentation of manufacturing, where countries specialize in different production stages and rely heavily on foreign inputs. This fragmentation makes economic shocks capable of rippling across regions. As a leading player in regional production networks, China has accelerated this process, particularly through trade with ASEAN countries. However, the US-China trade war has disrupted these networks, creating economic uncertainties. This study goes beyond country-level analysis to examine how the trade war and the relocation of Chinese FDI to ASEAN-4 affect vertical intra-industry trade (VIIT) between ASEAN-4 and the US, employing spatial econometric techniques to address a gap in the literature. The findings indicate that Chinese FDI significantly boosts VIIT, suggesting that relocating FDI to ASEAN-4 can help mitigate the trade war’s impact on China. Moreover, there is a positive and significant spatial VIIT, implying that trade expansion in one ASEAN-4 member country generates spillover effects across the region, underscoring the importance of resilient and diversified supply chains. However, the negative impacts of spatial FDI and GDP reveal ongoing competition within ASEAN-4, indicating that China and ASEAN-4 should carefully strategize to avoid adverse spillovers and promote deeper regional integration. Accordingly, ASEAN policymakers, particularly guiding initiatives like the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025, should revise strategies to ensure comprehensive integration among member countries rather than fostering competition, supporting mutual benefits from shared participation in regional supply chains.     Exercise as Precision Medicine: Targeting HER2/CD44-Driven Therapy Resistance in Breast Cancer (A Mini Review)

    Despite advances in HER2-targeted therapies and CSC-directed agents, resistance remains a major barrier in breast cancer. Synthesize evidence for exercise as a precision strategy to disrupt HER2/CD44-driven resistance circuits. Preclinical and clinical data demonstrate that physical activity: (1) downregulates HER2/PI3K signaling via myokine-mediated pathways (IL-6/SPARC), (2) reduces CD44 through NK-dependent immune surveillance, and (3) synergizes with biologics to overcome cardiotoxicity and chemoresistance. Molecular subtype-specific exercise prescriptions are defined. Exercise reprograms the tumor-immune microenvironment to target therapy-resistant pathways, establishing a paradigm for exercise as adjuvant precision medicine

    Small Signal Analysis of Rotating Reference Frame Based Synchronization Control for Microgrid to Grid Changeover

    Reliable synchronization is essential for ensuring stability during the transition of microgrids between islanded and grid-connected operation, particularly in converter-dominated lowinertia systems. This paper outlines a small signal analysis for the novel synchronization control of an islanded microgrid comprising two or more parallel-connected voltage source converters. It focuses on the development of simple and effective microgrid synchronization strategies with a minimum Rate of Change of Frequency (ROCOF), enabling the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into growing low-inertia power systems. The proposed method is based on a rotating reference frame-based algorithm with two Proportional-Integrator (PI) controllers at the secondary control level, minimizing the computational complexity by reducing the number of control loops compared with conventional approaches. A small-signal model has been developed and validated using eigenvalue analysis to ensure stability during the mode transitions. The developed controls were validated on a test setup comprising of a 25 kW Grid-Forming Converter (GFC) and a 25 kW Grid-Following Converter (GFL)

    El objetivo es determinar de qué modo la formación de los docentes de Educación Física en el distrito educativo 08-09 de República Dominicana incide en su desempeño laboral. El enfoque fue mixto, integrando materiales y métodos como la observación, el cuestionario, las notas de campo y el instrumento denominado “Evaluación de la Favorabilidad del Entorno Educativo para la Práctica de Educación Física (E.F.E.E.F)”, validado por La Rotta et al. (2020). La muestra fue no probabilística por conveniencia, compuesta de 15 docentes, lo que representa el 52% del total distrital. Se observó una tendencia positiva no significativa entre el perfil profesional y la evaluación (Tau-b de Kendall = 0.582, p = 0.26). Si bien los docentes con cursos complementarios obtuvieron mejores resultados, se recomienda cautela al interpretar la incidencia del perfil profesional en el desempeño laboral

    Methodology for three-dimensional analysis of asymmetries in joint moments in cycling

    Background and introductionThe assessment of lower-limb joint moment asymmetries during cycling is critical, as inter-limb imbalances may lead to performance decrements, overload, or injury risk. While most investigations have focused on the sagittal plane, asymmetries may also arise in the frontal and transverse planes, with potential implications for both performance and health. The present study performed a three-dimensional analysis of joint moment asymmetries and examined the influence of pedalling power on their magnitude in ten amateur cyclists under three power conditions. Methodology Asymmetries were quantified using a modified version of the Normalised Symmetry Index (NSI), the Cross-Correlation Coefficient (CCC), and the newly proposed metric Asymmetries During Cycle (ADC) index.ResultsResults indicated that these indices must be applied jointly to identify whether asymmetries arise from magnitude differences, temporal pattern discrepancies, or both. The greatest asymmetries were observed in the frontal and transverse planes, and their magnitude decreased progressively with increasing pedalling power. DiscussionThe novelty of this work resides in the combined application of NSI, CCC, and the ADC index to three-dimensional joint moment analysis, which together provide a comprehensive and mechanistic understanding of asymmetries throughout the pedalling cycle, an approach not previously reported in cycling biomechanics

    DDA-bench: a manually curated database for benchmarking datasets and baseline performance values in predicting drug-disease associations

    Predicting drug-diseases associations provides hints in developing new drugs. Various computational methods have been developed. To develop better models for predicting drug-disease associations, two types of key resources must be obtained, the benchmarking dataset and the baseline performances. Collecting these resources usually requires extensive labors in reading literatures and extracting relevant information from the literature manually. We developed DDA-Bench databases services, which curates commonly used benchmarking datasets and up-to-date performance values from baseline studies. We analyzed data records in DDA-Bench database. We proposed that performance variations for a given method in the context of different reports should be noticed. The impact of dataset density on predictive performance exists, and should be considered in future studies. In addition, we release the DDA-Bench database to the public. The DDA-Bench database saves time and efforts in constructing data basis for developing new models for predicting drug-disease associations.     (Not) “just your nature”. Diagnostic journeys of adults with neurofibromatosis type 1 in Poland

    BackgroundNeurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that presents complex physical, emotional, and social challenges. Despite clear diagnostic criteria, NF1 is often diagnosed late due to vague early symptoms, everyday or non-medical interpretations of early signs, and limited access to specialists and genetic testing. This study explores how individuals with NF1 experience the diagnostic process in this context.MethodsNinety-three adults with medically confirmed NF1 participated in in-depth interviews conducted between August 1 and 31 December 2020. Data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, following Braun and Clarke’s six-phase framework to explore patterns in participants’ experiences and meaning-making related to diagnosis.ResultsThe diagnostic pathway for NF1 was often prolonged, fragmented, and emotionally taxing. Delays frequently stemmed from the normalization of early signs (e.g., café-au-lait macules or subcutaneous nodules) by both families and physicians. Many participants received their diagnosis incidentally, or only after persistent self-advocacy, parental initiative, or the diagnosis of their child. While some family members, particularly mothers, played an active diagnostic role, others responded with denial, minimization, or reluctance to discuss symptoms, which in turn prolonged the search for answers. Structural factors, such as limited NF1-specific familiarity among primary care providers, constrained referral pathways, and regional disparities, further complicated the diagnostic odyssey. The unpredictability and burden of diagnosis often led to frustration and emotional fatigue, particularly among those who lacked a family history of the disease.ConclusionThis study emphasizes the need for earlier NF1 recognition through enhanced clinician awareness, better diagnostic coordination, and access to genetic and psychosocial support. It also highlights the role of patient agency and the emotional cost of delayed diagnosis in rare diseases. These findings point to several actionable priorities, including the need to strengthen NF1-specific training for primary care physicians, implement clearer referral pathways, and expand access to genetic counselling and psychosocial support

    South Korean study to prevent the progression of frailty and aging-related diseases using a digital multidomain intervention (SUPERAGING): Protocol of a feasibility pilot study

    Objective The rapid global aging trend has led to a substantial increase in the prevalence of frailty among older adults. We developed a mobile app-based multidomain intervention (MI) program as part of a South Korean study to prevent the progression of frailty and aging-related diseases using a digital MI (SUPERAGING). We aim to evaluate the feasibility of the SUPERAGING app-based intervention in prefrail or frail older adults. Methods We will recruit 40 community-dwelling older adults aged 60 to 90 years classified as frail or prefrail according to the Modified Fried frailty criteria. Participants will be randomly assigned to intervention and control groups at a 1:1 ratio. The intervention group will receive a personalized program through the SUPERAGING digital platform, comprising four components: disease management, cognitive training, physical exercise and nutritional intervention for 16 weeks. The control group will receive standard lifestyle education only. The primary outcomes are adherence, retention, and recruitment rates. The main secondary outcomes are frailty, disability, cognitive function, physical performance, nutritional assessment, mood, quality of life, vascular risk factors, and occurrence of aging-related diseases. There will be an exploratory evaluation of biological aging markers. Results The intervention program will be considered feasible if the following success criteria are met: (a) a retention rate of 70% or higher, (b) an adherence rate of 70% or higher, and (c) a recruitment rate of 50% or higher. Conclusions The results will provide information on the applicability of a MI using a mobile app targeting older adults with prefrailty or frailty.
