ROI in the age of digital persuasion: An in-depth examination of profitability and key performance indicators in Influencer Marketing Strategies

    No full text
The main focus of this thesis is to investigate profitability and KPIs in influencer marketing strategies. It has been developed in order to explore the extent to which these tactics succeed at increasing customer engagement and brand loyalty through realness and openness. This study has adopted a mixed-method research design, which includes a combination of literature review, empirical study of surveys, interviews with industry experts, statistical analysis (correlation analysis) and a case study. The study revealed engagement is more relevant to influencer campaign success than the number of followers. The benefits of using micro-influencers are that they typically drive higher engagement rates for lower cost than macro-influencers. The research analyzed different KPIs — which included brand awareness, engagement, traffic, sales, customer retention. There are also alternative ways in which the ROI of an influencer campaign can be measured apart from sales and these include brand awareness, brand sentiment, engagement and purchase intent. While these metrics can be valuable, marketers need to ensure that the campaign objectives directly align with their goals, as these metrics are only as good as their ability to measure the big picture. The above clearly shows that ROI in influencer marketing is significantly goal oriented therefore its measurement is extremely case by case oriented. The findings suggest that brands should prioritize authentic and engaging content over the amount of followers. In turn, brands are able to maximize ROI by partnering with micro-influencers and measuring success through engagement metrics. Brand loyalty, customer lifetime value and other long-term effects should be taken into account in addition to short-term sales. The research also serves as a reminder to all to use more than one platform and leverage enhanced tech like AI and predictive analytics to refine influencer strategies even more. These methods will not only increase the quality of short term campaign results, but cultivate brand loyalty and long-term profitability

Three essays on corporate finance and banking

    No full text
This dissertation studies the unexpected equilibrium effects of efficiency improvements in the financial sector. Chapter 1 focuses on the increase in speculators’ information acquisition efficiency in stock markets, while Chapters 2 and 3 look at the FinTech disruption in credit markets. Chapter 1 investigates the influence of the decrease in speculators’ information acquisition costs on corporate real efficiency within a model where firms learn from stocks and speculators’ information acquisition consumes their attention. It shows that, when information is inexpensive, speculators will use up attention. Then, decreasing speculators’ information costs can reduce corporate efficiency and social welfare. Chapter 2 studies how information technology (IT) improvements affect lender competition, entrepreneurs’ investment, and welfare in a spatial model. The effects of an IT improvement depend on whether it weakens the influence of lender–borrower distance on monitoring costs. If it does, it has a hump-shaped effect on entrepreneurs’ investment and social welfare. If not, competition intensity does not vary, improving lender profits, entrepreneurs’ investment, and social welfare. Chapter 3 studies fintech entry and how it affects competition, investment, and welfare in a spatial model. It shows that fintechs with inferior monitoring efficiency can successfully enter because of their superior flexibility iii in pricing. As a result, fintech borrowers are more likely to default than bank borrowers with similar characteristics. Fintech entry may induce banks’ exit and reduce investment; however, it will increase investment if inter-fintech competition is intense enough. Fintech entry will improve welfare if fintechs have high monitoring efficiency and inter-fintech competition intensity is intermediate

    Nipah virus: A multidimensional update

    No full text
Nipah virus (NiV) is an emerging zoonotic paramyxovirus to which is attributed numerous high mortality outbreaks in South and South-East Asia; Bangladesh’s Nipah belt accounts for the vast majority of human outbreaks, reporting regular viral emergency events. The natural reservoir of NiV is the Pteropus bat species, which covers a wide geographical distribution extending over Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Occasionally, human outbreaks have required the presence of an intermediate amplification mammal host between bat and humans. However, in Bangladesh, the viral transmission occurs directly from bat to human mainly by ingestion of contaminated fresh date palm sap. Human infection manifests as a rapidly progressive encephalitis accounting for extremely high mortality rates. Despite that, no therapeutic agents or vaccines have been approved for human use. An updated review of the main NiV infection determinants and current potential therapeutic and preventive strategies is exposed
