    Modulation of 2-imino-6,7-dihydroquinlin-8(5<i>H</i>)-imine-iron ethylene polymerization catalysts through (cyclo)alkyl, benzhydryl and halide substitution

    A direct one-pot assembly has been utilized for the preparation of 2-imino-6,7-dihydroquinlin-8(5H)-imine-ferrous chloride complexes, [2-(ArN[double bond, length as m-dash]CCH3)-8-(ArN)C9H8N]FeCl2 (Ar = 2-Me-4-(CHPh2)-6-(C5H9)C6H2 Fe1, 2-Me-4-(C5H9)-6-(CHPh2)C6H2 Fe2, 2-(C5H9)-4-Me-6-(CHPh2)C6H2 Fe3, 2-(C5H9)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 Fe4, 2-(C6H11)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 Fe5, 2-(C8H15)-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 Fe6, 2-F-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 Fe7, 2-Cl-4,6-(CHPh2)2C6H2 Fe8], disparate in the steric/electronic profile of their N-aryl groups. In addition to spectroscopic characterization, the structural properties of representative Fe3 and Fe5 have been determined by single crystal XRD. Under activation with MAO or MMAO, Fe1–Fe8 displayed very high catalytic activities for ethylene polymerization at 60 °C [up to 25.20 × 106 g (PE) per mol (Fe) per h for Fe2/MMAO]; even at temperatures as high as 100 °C the activity remained high [3.92 × 106 g (PE) per mol (Fe) per h]. Notably, the polymers generated using MMAO as activator showed distinctly lower molecular weight than those with MAO [Mw range: 1.36–62.41 kg mol−1 (MMAO) vs. 13.07–210.56 kg mol−1 (MAO)], with ortho-cycloalkyl-containing Fe4–Fe6 forming polymers at the lowest end of the Mw range and with the narrowest dispersity (Mw/Mn range: 1.6–2.3). Microstructural analysis of selected polymers highlighted the presence of both vinyl-terminated polymers and fully saturated polymers, the ratio of which could be influenced by not only the type of aluminum-alkyl activator but also by the run temperature and the N-aryl substitution pattern. Significantly, the molecular weights of many of these polyethylenes fall within the specification range for polyethylene waxes used in industrial applications.</p

It has updated the Midlands entries of the 2015 audit of audio collections in the UK created by the British Library. It was compiled by Dr Elizabeth Blood and Colin Hyde with funding from the ESRC Impact Acceleration Account and the Institute for Digital Culture at the University of Leicester.</p

    Heart failure (HF) affects over 60 million individuals globally. Contemporary guideline-directed medical therapies (GDMT) reduce cardiovascular mortality and HF hospitalizations. However, medication non-adherence represents a critical barrier limiting real-world efficacy of GDMT. This scientific statement aims to provide a comprehensive framework for understanding, measuring, and addressing medication non-adherence in HF management across diverse healthcare settings. Addressing medication non-adherence requires systematic, multifaceted approaches targeting individual patient barriers while implementing system-level interventions. Polypills, digital monitoring platforms, enhanced patient education and empowerment, and multidisciplinary care models represent promising strategies to optimize therapeutic adherence and improve clinical outcomes in HF management.</p

    Transformational Family Leaders in Multi-Unit Complex Family Firms: A Multilevel Analysis

    Transformational leadership is recognized for bringing family members together; however, its role in multi-unit complex family firms that rely on nonfamily managers is poorly theorized. We find that transformational family CEOs positively affect the performance of business units run by nonfamily managers, suggesting that transformational family CEOs significantly influence nonfamily managers’ behavior. But the efficacy of that influence matters. Political skill enhances the transformational family CEO’s impact on business unit entrepreneurial orientation and financial performance. Business unit entrepreneurial orientation also mediates the relationship between the transformational family CEO and business unit financial performance, particularly when CEO political skill is high.</p

    Distributed Nash Equilibrium Seeking for Double-Integrator Multiagent Systems via Event-Triggered Communication

    This paper develops a distributed Nash equilibrium-seeking algorithm tailored for double-integrator multiagent systems. It specifically addresses the critical problems of information loss caused by limited communication in an incomplete information environment. By integrating the leader-following consensus framework with the decentralized gradient-based dynamic event-triggered scheme, information sampling, estimation, and transmission are restricted to occur only at designated triggered moments. The strategy establishes sufficient conditions for achieving exponential convergence to the Nash equilibrium, while also highlighting the impact of parameter design on system convergence. Additionally, it contributes a fresh perspective on tackling distributed Nash equilibrium challenges in multiagent systems. A simulation case under two sets of different parameters is presented to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.</p

    Improving UK data on avoidable perinatal brain injury: review of data dictionaries and consultation

    Abstract Background High quality data is important to understanding epidemiology and supporting improvement efforts in perinatal brain injury. It is not clear which data items relevant to brain injury are captured across UK sources of routinely collected data, nor what needs to be done to ensure that those sources are fit for purpose in improving care. Methods We reviewed data dictionaries of four main UK perinatal data sources and consulted a multi-professional group (N = 27) with expertise in neonatal/maternity care, statistics, and clinical negligence. Results None of the data sources we reviewed currently captures, on its own, the range of items relevant to brain injury. Data items lack common definitions and ongoing linkage across the different sources. Our consultation identified the need for standardising the definition of avoidable perinatal brain injury, resolving inconsistencies in capturing data, improving linkage of data across existing data sources, and co-designing a strategy for meaningful use of data. Conclusions Limited standardisation and linkage across UK data sources are key problems in using data to guide improvement efforts aimed at reducing risk of avoidable perinatal brain injury. A programme involving co-design with healthcare professionals and families to improve capture and use of data is now needed. Impact Limited standardisation and linkage across UK data sources currently challenge the use of data as the basis of efforts to reduce risk of avoidable perinatal brain injury. A harmonisation programme involving consultation and co-design with healthcare professionals, families, and other specialists is needed to enable better capture and use of data in this key area. There is need to standardise the definition of avoidable perinatal brain injury, resolve inconsistencies in capturing data, improve linkage of data collected across existing data sources, and co-design a strategy for meaningful use of data.</p

    Green technology adoption under uncertainty, increasing returns, and complex adaptive dynamics

    We consider firms’ choices between a clean technology that benefits, and a dirty tech-nology that harms, the environment. Green firms are more suited to the clean technologyand brown firms are more suited to the dirty technology. We use a model derived from com-plexity theory that takes account of true uncertainty and increasing returns to technologyadoption. We examine theoretically, the properties of the long-run equilibrium, and providesimulated time paths of technology adoption, using plausible dynamics. The long-run out-come is an ‘emergent property’ of the system, and is unpredictable despite there being noexternal technological or preference shocks. We describe the role of taxes and subsidies infacilitating adoption of the clean technology; the conflict between optimal Pigouvian taxesand adoption of clean technologies; the optimal temporal profile of subsidies; and the desir-ability of an international fund to provide technology assistance to poorer countries.</p

    Multicomponent Ionized Gas Outflows in the Hot Dust-obscured Galaxy W2026+0716 with Keck/OSIRIS

    We present narrowband-filtered integral field unit observations of the hot dust-obscured galaxy (Hot DOG) WISE J202615.27+071624.0 (hereafter W2026+0716) at redshift z = 2.570 using Keck/OSIRIS. Our analysis reveals a multicomponent ionized gas outflow structure in this heavily obscured active galactic nucleus (AGN) host galaxy. Multicomponent Gaussian decomposition of the [O iii] and Hα emission lines uncovers extremely broad and asymmetric profiles, characteristic of AGN-driven outflows. Kinematic mapping shows spatially distinct structures: the [O iii]- and Hα-dominated components (with radii of 1.20 ± 0.56 kpc) are separated by a projected offset of ∼1.1 kpc and exhibit divergent velocity regimes. The [O iii] outflow reaches a velocity of 3210 ± 50 km s−1, while the Hα outflow component attains 2310±840 km s−1. Dynamical modeling supports a biconical outflow structure, with [O iii] and Hα emissions dominating separate cones and significant dust obscuration of the redshifted outflow. Their comparable momentum outflow rates and energy outflow rates suggest a potential physical connection in their driving mechanisms. Spectral energy distribution analysis reveals anomalous optical/UV excess, attributed to AGN photon scattering by dust or outflowing material, classifying W2026+0716 as a “Blue Hot DOG”. The derived outflow timescale (∼105 yr) aligns with the evolutionary phase of Blue Hot DOGs, suggesting AGN feedback operates persistently during this transitional stage.</p
