Effect of gender and regions on determinants of digital transformation adoption in creative services

    Get PDF
The area of digital transformation is attracting considerable interest due to the current trend of digital transformation being deployed around industries in the world. Many researchers have addressed the issue of technology acceptance in various industries; however, the area of digital transformation along with the demographic characteristics of creative services has not been explored, especially in the context of Vietnam. This study aims to clarify the influence on the determinants of adoption of digital transformation based on gender and region and is the first experiment to survey in creative services in Vietnam. The methodology is primarily derived from the technology, organization, and environment framework, and uses analysis of variance, independent sample West, and multivariate linear regression for investigation; further details on the adopted methodology can be found in this paper. The results reported here provide further evidence for the value of gender and region in the decision of digital transformation adoption and their impact on the determinants of digital transformation. This work has presented a background method for the investigation of creative companies in the context of creative services in Vietnam. However, the findings might be only representative of the characteristics of selected demographics and creative services in Vietnam, so additional studies are needed on other demographic factors and areas

On education: John Ryder’s Relentless Mirror

    No full text
This chapter focuses in the latest development of John Ryder's work, in which he offers himself as a philosopher of education. Ryder is seen as a political author, i.e., a thinker who moves mainly in the sphere of active judgment, in Buchlerian terms. His thinking is rooted in relational ontology. Therefore, in the initial parts of this paper the ontology is presented with the help of the relational concepts of Dewey and Buchler, who have influenced Ryder significantly. The final part deals with the Ryder’s forthcoming monograph Philosophy of Education: Thinking and Learning Through History and Practice. It emphasizes the use of important figures in the philosophy of education (Plato, Rousseau, Dewey, Freire), who serve as a field of tension that supports the relational approach. The concluding segment of the text is devoted mainly to equality, which in Ryder’s monograph is conceived as a relational matter of autonomy and community. © 2021 Central European Pragmatist Forum. Performance of academic staff during COVID-19 pandemic-induced work transformations: An IPO model for stress management

    Get PDF
The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected all spheres of services-related business, including the higher education sector. As a pre-emptive measure, almost all traditional educational institutions have been transformed into virtual organizations. This pandemic-induced work transition has created stress among academic staff and has hampered their performance. The present study aims to examine the impact of leadership behaviors, e-training, and employment security on the stress management process, consequently improving employee performance during and after the pandemic. Based on the IPO (input-process-output) model, this study examines the effect of leadership behavior, e-training, and employment security on teaching staff's tasks and adaptive and contextual performance, mediated by stress management. To test the conceptual model, data were collected from the teaching staff of Malaysian universities. The structural equation modeling technique was used for data analysis, while bootstrapping with the maximum likelihood estimator was used to confirm the mediational role of stress management. The study revealed that task- and relation-oriented leadership behavior, e-training, and employment security positively influence stress management and employee performance in virtual organizations. Moreover, stress management acts as a full mediator in the relationship between leadership behavior and employee performance, while partial mediation occurs between e-training, employment security, and employee performance. This study offers valuable insights into the literature by proposing leadership behavior, e-training, and employment security as input in the stress management process to attain the performance output of teaching staff. Higher education institutions should come forward to assist their teaching employees in managing their stress levels for better outcomes

The effect of the fourth industrial revolution economies and management

    Get PDF
The fourth industrial era (or Industry 4.0) refers to the recent trend of massive data collection, analysis and communication with intense process automation. Massive studies have been conducted in this field, though with the main focus on technical details, hardware and software. There still remains a considerable gap in the analysis of potential effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on economies and management. According to recent studies, from 45% to 60% of jobs around the globe are at risk of being automated or computerised. Despite the fact the new jobs such as automation engineers, programmers, data analysts and others are being created, the economies would get significant amount of workforce lacking necessary qualifications. A casual model that shows the effect of the increasing automation on economies has been developed and discusses potential implications. The paper suggests that economies and organisations would have to adopt “Algorithmic Management” to remain competitive in the new digital environment. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature

On isotactic polypropylene annealing: Difference in final properties of neat and β-nucleated polypropylene

    Get PDF
The effect of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) molecular weight and thermal treatment on final crystalline structure and mechanical properties were investigated by X-ray scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, tensile testing, and scanning electron microscopy. Neat and β-nucleated isotactic polypropylene were subjected to annealing above melting temperature of β-phase but still below melting temperature of α-phase, which caused both improvement of α crystallites and β to α-recrystallization, in case of nucleated material. As a consequence, the final mechanical properties like tensile strength and stiffness improved significantly. The increase is much more pronounced in the case of β to α-transformed materials with lower molecular weight. This phenomenon can also be attributed to the partial preservation of the specific structure of the amorphous phase present in β-nucleated polypropylene, in addition to the perfection of the crystalline phase. The amorphous phase comprises many interconnecting chains passing through several lamellae whereby providing a long-range effect. © BME-PT.CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_027/0008464, IGA/FT/2020/011, IGA/UTB/FT/2021/007; European Commission, ECEuropean UnionEuropean Commission [CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_027/0008464, IGA/FT/2020/011, IGA/UTB/FT/2021/007

    No full text
This article is focused on the planning of security measures. In our research, we are focused on soft targets and their protection. In this article, we present one part of our work - the process of planning and security strategy. In the beginning, the definitions of the soft targets and the cultural events are. Then we describe our proposal for schedule steps and security documents for effective security measures, generally for effective security and protection of people. The last part is about security strategy. We need to understand the possibilities of different strategies, their advantages and disadvantages.Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic [VI20192021163

The distance function optimization for the near neighbors-based classifiers

    Get PDF
Based on the analysis of conditions for a good distance function we found four rules that should be fulfilled. Then, we introduce two new distance functions, a metric and a pseudometric one. We have tested how they fit for distance-based classifiers, especially for the IINC classifier. We rank distance functions according to several criteria and tests. Rankings depend not only on criteria or nature of the statistical test, but also whether it takes into account different difficulties of tasks or whether it considers all tasks as equally difficult. We have found that the new distance functions introduced belong among the four or five best out of 23 distance functions. We have tested them on 24 different tasks, using the mean, the median, the Friedman aligned test, and the Quade test. Our results show that a suitable distance function can improve behavior of distance-based classification rules.Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports [LM2018113]Ministerstvo Školství, Mládeže a Tělovýchovy, MŠMT: LM201811

Acoustic and mechanical testing of commercial cocoa powders

    Get PDF
In the present study, commercial cocoa powders with different cocoa fat contents were studied. It was found that the cocoa powders' flow patterns were of a cohesive to highly cohesive characters. It was demonstrated, that the powders of higher crystalline structure were less flowable compared to the ones with the more amorphous ones. It was observed by SEM that the studied cocoa powders of higher cocoa fat content and the ones with the dietary fibers content (sample 2) exhibited more amorphous structure. The predominantly smooth surface structure of the higher fat content cocoa powder allowed its higher dense packing, triggering the decreased sound absorption typical for non-porous materials as quantified by NRC of 0.289 (sample 1, 100 mm material height) and 0.227 (sample 3) to 0.182 (sample 2). The latter conclusions were also supported by the observed increase of the structural mechanical stiffness of the freely poured powder bed of high cocoa fat amorphous powders, as resulting in the increasing magnitude of the K-l of 12.83 MPa (sample 1, 100 mm material height) and 19.29 MPa (sample 3) to 37.82 MPa (sample 2). Melting temperatures of the samples were determined by DSC. Results were directly corresponded to the cocoa butter content. The highest enthalpy of fusion (Delta H (m)) of (23.32 +/- 0.21) J/g was obtained for the highest cocoa butter containing sample 2 (of 20-22 wt. %). Obtained values of Delta H (m) for samples 1 and 2 were of (12.38 +/- 0.20) J/g and (10.27 +/- 0.17) J/g. T-p (melt) for reversing heat flow was ranging from (30.16 +/- 0.10) degrees C to (32.28 +/- 0.10) degrees C indicating the melting of stable beta polymorph. The melting peaks observed at distinct temperatures in the non-reversing heat flow patterns were indicating melting of the unstable alpha and metastable beta' and stable beta cocoa butter polymorphic forms.Tomas Bata University in Zlin [IGA/FT/2022/005]; Palacky University Olomouc [IGA_PrF_2022_020]; Palacky University in Olomouc [IGA_ PrF_2022_020]Tomas Bata University in Zlin, TBU: IGA/FT/2022/005; Univerzita Palackého v Olomouci: IGA_PrF_2022_02

Czech preschool teachers' contrasting beliefs about inquiry-based activities

    Get PDF
Using a self-reporting measure, the study examined IBA-related beliefs of Czech preschool teachers (n = 1,004). In addition, it explored the beliefs of teachers who strongly agreed (n = 564) and those who strongly disagreed (n = 67) with the implementation of IBA in preschool classes. The findings show that teachers within the full sample, as well as those within the contrasting subsamples, hold considerably strong beliefs about the potential of IBA for children ' s cognitive development. At the same time, teachers are aware of the challenges associated with implementing IBA. Teachers who strongly favour IBA have significantly stronger beliefs in the benefits that IBA bring to children and also have stronger beliefs about the knowledge and skills teachers need for IBA planning and implementation than has the group that strongly rejects IBA. In contrast, teachers who strongly reject IBA have stronger beliefs that IBA cause problems in preschool classes. The group of teachers who strongly favour IBA have higher levels of education and fewer years of practice than the contrasting group. They are mostly younger teachers who received a modern professional education and who are more open to newer instructional strategies such as IBA.Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve ZlíněDevelopment of Research Organisations Fund (RVO) , Tomas Bata Universit
