The objective of this study is to describe the Nursing of the Hospital of San Hermenegildo (1455-1837), to apply a current nursing vision to the iconographic work of El Tránsito de San Hermenegildo and to relate Nursing, iconography and music therapy attending to the pictorial work of the extinct Hospital of San Hermenegildo. Methodology: To carry out this work the descriptive historical method has been used; the collection of information has been carried out through primary and secondary sources. Said pictorial work, El Tránsito de San Hermenegildo, is treated under the Hermeneutic or Interpretative paradigm, using the iconographic method described by Erwin Panofsky. Results: Identification of the Nursing Department of the San Hermenegildo Hospital and enumeration of its functions and interventions, as well as the description of the painting The Transit of San Hermenegildo, located in the extinct Hospital of San Hermenegildo in Seville, following the Panofsky method, as well as applying a Nursing Perspective to this pictorial work, summarizing a Care Plan using the NANDA-NICNOC nomenclature, relating this iconography with music therapy or music therapy. Discussion: The aim is to relate what is represented in this pictorial work, The Transit of San Hermenegildo, giving an interpretation, a vision, a nursing perspective. Conclusions: The founding of the Hospital of San Hermenegildo in 1455 represented a change in the ways of healing, following a different and innovative methodology. The painting of The Transit of Saint Hermenegild marked the beginning of the use of a compositional scheme divided into two distinct parts, like Heaven and Earth in Sevillian religious painting. Each part was painted by a different painter (Alonso Vázquez-Juan de Uceda). The analysis used Panofsky’s method, integrating music therapy, providing a nursing perspective, and summarizing the Nursing Care Plan, addressing not only the patient but also the family, in a comprehensive approach, using a unique nursing language.O objetivo deste estudo é descrever o Departamento de Enfermagem do Hospital de San Hermenegildo (1455-1837), aplicar uma perspetiva contemporânea de enfermagem à obra iconográfica O Trânsito de San Hermenegildo e relacionar enfermagem, iconografia e musicoterapia com base na obra pictórica do extinto Hospital de San Hermenegildo.
Transvestites Take the Voice. Musical Vocal Practices of Stage Transvestism
This paper examines the relationship between stage cross-dressing and the voice, with the aim of exploring how this bodily resource is used to construct female identity on stage. After defining cross-dressing and its various motivations, the characteristics and circumstances of stage cross-dressing are specifically addressed. The focus is mainly on transvestite men in their process of impersonating femininity, as this is the modality where the spoken voice and singing play the most relevant role. The text delves into the technical aspects of the voice (mainly frequency and timbre) and tries to determine how these elements contribute to the perception of gender. Taking post-structuralist theories as a theoretical framework, we will consider the voice as a privileged target to determine the performativity of gender. Subsequently, a historical review of stage transvestism is carried out, from the 19th century transvestites to the present day, focusing on some significant moments: the transition from 19th century transvestism to the ‘female impersonators’ of the first decades of the 20th century; the repression during Franco’s regime and the revitalisation of the transvestite scene during the transition to democracy; finally, the artistic career of Luis Herrero Cortés (La Prohibida) will be taken as a case study, as an example of stage transvestism with links to the gay movement and queer culture. The various examples analysed are intended to demonstrate that there is no single way of cross-dressing and feminising the voice. The process of voice construction in stage transvestism is complex and multifaceted, and reveals the performativity of gender. It acquires meaning in performance practice when the audience recognises certain elements of the voice as carrying meaning.
Epideictic genre and forensic speech
I 9, 1366a23-1368a37). Aristotle (Rh. I 3, 1358a36-59a6) divided the subject matter of rhetoric into three genres: deliberative, epideictic, and judicial, the second of which was the least important. In chapter 9 of book I, he developed the section on epideictic rhetoric in only four columns and fifteen lines in Immanuel Bekker’s edition (Rh. I 9, 1366a23-1368a37). In Latin rhetoric, this genre was disparagingly referred to as the tertium genus. It is also the least defined in treatises on rhetoric, due, among other reasons, to the fact that its subject matter or content—that is, praise and blame—can appear in any type of text, literary or non-literary. The epideictic genre aims to address what is honorable and shameful, using virtues and vices that the orator employs to praise or criticize a third person. It is often confused with the deliberative genre because both rely on thos. On the other hand, the genre that seems furthest removed from epideictic discourse is judicial discourse. In light of these considerations, this paper seeks to demonstrate the close relationship between epideictic and judicial discourse, both through their shared use of praise and vituperation and through their use of stylistic devices considered characteristic of the epideictic genre. To this objective, the most significant passages from both Greek and Roman sources are studied.
The objective of this work is to identify some of the plagues that occurred in colonial Lima, and to know the most recurrent measures carried out to prevent their entry or control their spread. The method was the colonial documentary search in different archival repositories, mainly the Historical Archive of Metropolitan Lima, and analyze and interpret these data. The result was that the council applied some measures of health, protection and even religious practices common in the Old Spanish Regime, such as the cleaning of the streets and ditches, the quarantine of muzzled slaves and the processions of images of saints to the cathedral.O objetivo deste trabalho é identificar algumas das pragas que ocorreram na Lima colonial e conhecer as medidas mais recorrentes realizadas para impedir sua entrada ou controlar sua propagação. Perceptions of Housing in the Context of the Rural Gap
This paper explores how rural populations perceive the rural-urban gap, and the strategic role played by housing in this perception. It begins by contextualising the rural gap within peripheralisation processes. The rural gap is defined as a lack of equal access to goods and services. Access is closely related to mobility, which is a key factor in modulating inequalities in rural areas. As the centre of everyday rural life, housing is taking on an increasingly important role as a hub of mobility. The study seeks to answer the following questions: What place does housing occupy in rural inhabitants' perceptions of the rural gap? Secondly, regardless of its absolute quantitative weight and its weight in relation to other aspects of the rural gap, how is the issue of residential mobility formulated in this context? Data from the Rural Access survey, which is representative of the Spanish rural population, is used, and 32 interviews are analysed in relation to the mid-zone of Navarre, which is representative of a peri-urban rural area that is heavily dependent on mobility. The results reveal the significant perception of the rural gap among the Spanish rural population, as well as the strong link between housing and accessibility, as evidenced in both the interviewees' discourse and the survey questions regarding ownership and use of second homes. Considering these findings, rural housing in Spain requires further research and targeted policies. The Poet Andreu Febrer and Dante’s Occitan Verses in the Purgatorio
In this article, I propose a new reading of the Occitan verses written by Dante in Purgatorio 26 through a study of Andreu Febrer’s poetry, especially his translation of the Divine Comedy. After an introduction in which I summarize the negative critical evaluation of the Occitan texts written by Tuscan authors at the turn of the thirteenth century, I argue that the Catalan poet Andreu Febrer provides us with an invaluable perspective for understanding the scope of Dante’s corpus, and especially his Occitan verses, during the 14th and 15th centuries in the Catalan court. After reviewing the latticework of references to Dante contained in Febrer’s poetry, I demonstrate how Febrer’s knowledge of Dante and of Occitan helps us establish the text of Dante’s Occitan verses that have, up until now, posed many philological problems.Aquest treball forma part del projecte d’I+D+i PID2021-123266NB-100, finançat per MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER/UE
Effectiveness of Family Intervention Programs Based on the Interpersonal Cognitive Model of Anorexia: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Introduction: This paper aims to examine family intervention programs based on the Cognitive‐Interpersonal Maintenance Model of anorexia nervosa (AN) and their impact on patients and carers. Method: A systematic search was undertaken across several databases through 20 December 2024 in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta‐Analyses. Results: 15 studies were identified. Meta‐analyses of patient outcomes revealed no significant differences in BMI, eating disorder symptomatology, or emotional well‐being between intervention and control groups at post‐treatment or 12‐month followup. In contrast, carers showed significant improvements in emotional well‐being and expressed emotion at post‐treatment, with benefits maintained at follow‐up, and enhanced caregiving skills. These family intervention programs yielded better results in the evaluated variables among carers compared to the other programs with which they were compared. Moderator analyses suggested that these interventions are more effective in improving caregiving skills if they are delivered in a face‐to‐face format and improve caregivers' emotional well‐being and accommodation to a greater extent when patients are younger. Conclusions: The present findings highlight the positive impact of family intervention programs based on this model on carers, particularly in enhancing their emotional well‐being, expressed emotion and care skills. Future studies should continue to refine these programs to optimise benefits for all stakeholders involved. This research has been funded by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades, PID2022‐139623OB‐I00 and by the Regional Programme for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Research of Excellence (Action Plan 2022) of the Seneca Foundation—Science and Technology Agency of the Region of Murcia (Grant 22064/PI/22).
Industrial Paternalism on Francoist Development: a Tool of Control over Workers
The 1960s and 1970s in Spain were a period of social, political and cultural modernisation. This has led some authors to declare the death of industrial paternalism. However, this article aims to demonstrate the persistence of forms of paternalistic control over workers in developmental industries. This article analyses business policies and their objectives, implications and meanings –which are fundamental elements in defining them as paternalistic benefits–. These services were intended to prevent workers from leaving and increase their loyalty with a view to boosting productivity. In addition, they were imbued with identity-related meanings that sought to build vertical bonds of belonging within a business community as opposed to horizontal class solidarity. In short, I consider that paternalistic industrial policies were maintained during the years of Francoist development with a clear disciplinary function. To this end, the article focuses primarily on the analysis of the minutes of the Jurados de Empresa and trade union opposition documents available in the Archivo de Historia del Trabajo in Madrid and the Arxiu Històric de CCOO de Catalunya in Barcelona.
