    INTRA-UTERIN ADMINISTRATION OF PROSTAGLANDIN FOR INDUCTION IN CROSS BREEDING GOATS

    Productivity and reproductivity of cross breeding goats is low. It is mainly caused by hormone deficiency and difficulties in estrus detection. The research studied the effect of intrauterine administration of prostagiandin on estrus induction and on number of pregnancies.Sixteen does were divided randomly into 2 groups. Group i were injected with prostagiandin intramuscularly. Group li were given prostagiandin by intrauterine administration. In both groups, prostagiandin were given twice with interval 11 days apart. The does which coming into estrus were mated naturally.There was a significantly different in the time of estrus between group I and group II (40.25 ± 4.94 and 80.8 ± 18.35 hours). On the other hand, there was no difference in estrus induction between those two groups (Group I : 87.5% and Group II : 62.5 %). All the does which were mated naturally were pregnant (100%). Although time to estrus after intrauterine administration of prostagfandin was longer than that of intramuscular ones, but it was a cheaper method

    Na-borate gave teratogenic effects both to rats and chickens. In chickens the fetal malformations caused by borate treatments were similar to those due to riboflavin deficiency. It was proposed that in embryonated eggs borate built a bond with riboflavin, so that riboflavin could not junction properly. This present investigation was conducted to assess the possibility of riboflavin  in  prevent  the  teratogenic effects of  Na-borate in rats.Nineteen primigravida Wistar rats were allocated randomly to one of treatment groups, i. e, 9 rats were orally treated with 180 mg/200g BW/day, No-borate the other 10 rats beside treated with Na-borate, they were also treated orally with 2.5 mg/rat/day riboflavin. The treatments were done during the pregnancy on day 6 to 15. On day 20 the pregnant does were caesarean sectioned under ether anaesthesia. After all fetal malformations were noted, then all fetuses were placed in alcohol 70%, prepared for alizarin method for microscopic skeleton inspection. Chi square analysis of the gross inspection malformations, i e. the resorbed vs. the unresorbed, the alive vs. the dead, the haemorrhage vs. the non Hemorrhage fetuses of the two treatments showed unsignificant difference. Riboflavin supplementation increased singnificantly the number of fetuses with omphalocel. T-test analysis indicated that riboflavinsupplementation highly significantly caused the fore and hind paw, costal, sternal defects became more serious, if also significantly reduced the weight and the length of the fetuses. This investigation revealed that riboflavin supplementation failed to prevent, but even caused the teratogenic effects of the Na-borate to rats became more serious

    Histopathological Features of Duodenal Coccidiosis in the Probiotic Broiler Chickens

    This aim of research was to know histopathology lesions of broiler duodenum in chicken coccidiosis with probiotic administrasion. Sixty six DOC of broiler, strain Arbor acress, male sex were divided into 5 groups of twelve each. Chickens in Groups I, II, III, IV and V were given standard food, standard food+probiotic, standard food+1000 oocysts, standard food+probiotic+1000 oocysts and standard food+probiotic+ 3000 oocysts,respectively. Probiotic was given starting at the age of 8 days by sprayed in food with the dose 2 ml/ 250 ml water/ 1 kg food. At the age of 38 days, chickens were infected orally by given 1000 oocysts for group III and IV, and 3000 oocysts for group V. Group I and II were euthanazed at the age of 39 days, group IIIA, IVA, VA at 5 days postinfection, group IIIB, IVB, VB at 6 days post infection, and group IIIC, IVC, VC at 7 days post infection. Histopathologic lesions of the duodenums were analyzed with qualitative analyze. Results showed that infection without probiotic area were found histopathologic changes of duodenum in the form of congestion, hemorrhages, schizonts and macrogametes representing of Eimeria sp stadium which caused coccidiosis. Treatment infection with probiotic were found histopathologic changes in the duodenum, such as congestion,hemorrhages, necrotic epithelial cells, and also schizonts, microgametes and macrogametes representing of Eimeria sp stadium which caused coccidiosis. Probiotic in the present study did not have any effect for histopathologic changes in the duodenum in the broiler chickens infected coccidiosis

    Lymphocyte is leukocyte component that difficult to culture in vitro. Several viruses need lymphocytes as host cell in order to proliferate and growth in this media such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). This virus was associated with malignant disease like nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). The objectives of this research are to develop and to prepare lymphocyte cell culture as material source of DNA for molecular analysis of virus. Peripheral blood was collected from NPC patients which is histopatologically and serologically positive of EBV. Lymphocytes were separated from the other blood components using ficcol-histopaque. Lymphocytes were diluted using RPMt medium then they were cultivated into 96 microwell plate with concentration of 106 cell/ml. The medium consist of 10% FBS, RPMI, Penstrep and FK 506. Culture of lymphocytes were incubated in 5% CO2 at 37°C. The lymphocyte cultures developed and grew confluendy during the first week. Only B cells whith EBV would be well establish. After 50 cell generations, lymphocytes were transformed and immortalized to be lymphoblastoid cell fine (LCL)

    THE EFFECT OF INCUBATION TIME ON EXCYSTATION OF EIMERIA TENELLA SPOROZOITES IN VITRO

    This purpose of the research is to know the effect of incubation time on excystation of Eimeria tenella sporo-zoites in vitro.Eimeria tenella oocystes treated in clorox were broken by glass beads. Sporocystes liberated from oocys were divid­ed in six groups (I - VI), each ghroup contained 1.68.106 sporocystes. All of the groups were treated by 0,75% taur-ocholat sodium and 0,25% trypsin. Those sporocystes were incubated at 41°C for 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 minutes respectively. The data collected was the percentage at the number of sporozoites found in each group.The result showed that the increase of the number of sporozoites was paralelly with the incubation time. The highest number of sporozoites excystation was found in the 90 minutes of incubation group

    A research has been conducted to evaluate storage length effect on the pathogeniclty of E. tenella oocysts in broiler chickens.Two groups consist eight day old chickens, four chickens in group I and four chichkens in group II were used in this research. At the age of seventeen days, all the chickens in both groups were infected with 20,000 E. tenella oocysts. Group I was infected with Eimeria tenella oocyst that had been stored for 107 days at 4°C in the refrigerator and group II was infected with E. tenella oocysts that had been stored for two days at room temperature.The data collected were the caeca lesion score and the histopathology of the caeca. Of all chichkens in both groups that were killed on the fifth days after infection.The data of the caeca lesion score was analysed using the Rank test (Ferguson and Takane, 1989) while the data of caeca histopathology was analyzed descriptively.The result of the research on the caeca lesion score showed that there was a significant difference between group I and group II (P < 0,01). In group I the caeca lesion score was relative light (0) - (+1) if compared with group two (+4). The result of the research on the caeca histopathology showed that in group I the histopathological changes were relative light if compared with group II.     Monoclonal antibodies were produced against outer membrane protein of Pasteurella multocida strain Dompu.     COLIBACILLOSIS IN BURAS CHICKENS IN SOUTH KALIMANTAN (KOLIBASILOSIS PADA AYAM BURAS DI KALIMANTAN SELATAN)

    Thirty eight buras chickens of various ages with clinical signs diseases of illness were diagnosed for colibacillosis and other diseases, The diagnoses were carried out by isolation and identification of causative agents, pathological and histopathological examination. The isolated E. coli were tested serologically and their sensitivity towards antibiotics and sulfouamid.The results indicated that E. coli were isolated from 42.11 % chickens, either as single infection or in the connection with Newcastle Disease, salmonellosis, coccidiosis, aspergillosis, pasteurellosis aad mycoplasmosis. Serological test indicated that 25% of E. coli isolates belong to serotype 0,2 : KI and 18.75% serotype 078 : K80. The Sensitivity test showed that 73.33% of E. coli isolates were resistant to the antibiotics and sulfonamid, where as 26.67% were sensitive

    A cross-sectional study of scabies was performed on 2615 goats from 492 small holder farmers, covered aC subdistricts and 40 out of 88 vfllages in Kulanprogo district, Yogyakarta Province. The Objectives of this study is to investigate (a) factors associated with the prevalence of the disease in goat, and (b) the prevalence uf thedisease among goat population in the district A combination of a three stage and duster sampling procedures was used to select the goat. An animal was considered as suffering from scabies if it showed cuaical sign of scabies and positive laboratory finding of Sarcoptes scabieLThe mportant findings of this study include significant association between sarcoptic scabies in the farm and cleanliness of the barn, animal density, new mcoming animal, new annual from outside of the village, intensive barn, separation of younger animal, between barn distance and closed barn. Other factos, Le. altitude, former's formal education and experience of goat raising are not significantly associated with the disease. In the animal level, new incoming animal, clinical signs, previous infestation and age are found to be associated with the occurrence of the disease. No significant association is found between the occurrence of sarcoptic scabies and sex and breed. The prevalence of the disease is found o be 93% (467492) and 73% (205/2615) for farm and animal level, i respectively

    A total of 2251 broilers treated with 20 mg/kg body weight enrofloxacin and 1947 broilers treated with 20 mg/kg body weight ofloxacin plus 2260 broilers treated whith 125 mg/kg body weight chlortetracyclin were allocated in an experiment lo evaluate the effectiveness of the third generation quinolone in controlling mykoplasmosis in field.Result of this experiment demonstrated that These group nf antibiotics could produced lower mortality altogether with the culling rate and higher market weight compared to those treated with chlortetracyclin (P < 0.0 1). Although, treatment of mycoplasmosis in field using antibiotics in this group did not completely eliminate the clinical signs and patological changes as compared to the experiments done in the laboratory. Economical evaluation indicated that usage of These groups of antibiotics for broilers was more beneficial than chlortetracyclin
