Missuppfattningar inom genetik: lärares perspektiv. En intervjustudie om undervisningsutmaningar inom genetiken

    No full text
Genetics is a central topic in biology education, yet many students struggle with understanding key concepts such as gene, DNA, chromosome, dominant, and recessive. Previous research has shown that students often carry misconceptions rooted in everyday language and prior experiences, which may conflict with scientific explanations. These misconceptions can hinder deeper understanding and are particularly challenging for teachers to identify and address effectively in the classroom. This study investigates how lower secondary school biology teachers perceive and manage common misconceptions in genetics. The aim is to explore which misconceptions are most frequent among students and what strategies teachers use to identify them. The study is based on semi structured interviews with six certified biology teachers. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in teachers experiences and teaching practices. The results show that misconceptions are persistent and often linked to linguistic misunderstandings, such as interpreting “dominant” as “stronger” or “better.” Teachers report that students may appear to understand content based on correct answers but often lack conceptual depth. Teachers also highlight the difficulty of detecting misconceptions without allowing students to express their thinking in their own words. To address these issues, teachers use strategies such as repetition of key concepts, creating cognitive conflict, and relating content to students everyday experiences. Clarifying the difference between scientific and everyday language is emphasized. However, limited time and curriculum constraints often restrict the ability to fully address misconceptions. The study’s didactic implications point to the need for formative assessment practices, a focus on scientific language development, and repeated concept exposure. Professional development that supports teachers in identifying misconceptions in complex and abstract subjects like genetics is crucial for improving students' understanding and scientific literacy

Degree Project for Bachelor of Science in Conservation 2025, 180 ECTS ISRN GU/KUV ISSN 1101-3303 2025-06-08This study assesses Green Varnish Rescue, a nonflammable, eco-friendly solvent for removing aged varnish from oil paintings, comparing its performance to traditional solvents (TACO2 and a DMSO/MEK/acetone blend). Testing on two naturally aged paintings demonstrated equivalent cleaning efficacy but with superior safety and sustainability. Green Varnish Rescue caused minimal pigment disruption, left negligible residue, and required fewer applications, reducing both material costs and labor time. Its non-toxic formulation showed the lowest environmental impact, emitting low volatile organic compounds and being readily biodegradable. Economic analysis revealed 80% cost savings over conventional solvents due to lower purchase price and reduced waste disposal requirements. UV and XRF analysis confirmed that there were no long-term effects on the paint layers. These results establish Green Varnish Rescue as an optimal solution for conservators prioritizing both budget constraints and ecological responsibility, offering professional-grade treatment without compromising operator safety or environmental standards. The solvent’s combination of affordability, cleaning efficiency, and sustainability meets the growing demand for green alternatives in cultural heritage conservation

Effects of EU Taxonomy Alignment: A Stakeholder’s Perspective

    No full text
Background: The EU Taxonomy is a relatively new regulatory framework and phenomenon that is gaining in momentum as its aims to assist firms and investors in the identification and classification of sustainable firm activities. Due to the global focus on the issue of climate change and its mitigation, there has been an increased focus by regulatory agencies towards the mitigation of these risks and towards driving sustainable firm activities and growth. Up until now, a focus has been placed on the regulations and policy initiatives that have given rise to the EU Taxonomy Regulation and how it channels capital and funding to firm activities that are environmentally sustainable. However, there exists evidence that the EU Taxonomy has effects on both reporting firms and their stakeholders. Despite this, there is a lack of research on the effects that EU Taxonomy alignment has on the stakeholders of reporting firms in the construction industry. Purpose: The purpose of this research paper is to contribute to the current research on the EU Taxonomy and Stakeholder Theory by expanding on the effects that firm alignment with the EU Taxonomy has on the different stakeholder groups of a reporting firm within the construction industry. The aim of this research paper is to contribute to the overall research by drawing upon both primary and secondary data of different stakeholders of reporting firms in the construction industry that are affected by EU Taxonomy alignment, Stakeholder Theory, and the EU Taxonomy to develop a deeper understanding of the effects that taxonomy alignment has on the different identified stakeholder groups. Method: This research takes on the form of qualitative research that is based on the interpretivist research philosophy and takes on the form of a comparative multiple case study conducted on stakeholders of reporting firms within the construction industry. The qualitative interviews resulted in findings from 12 different stakeholders of reporting firms in the construction industry. A systematic literature review was carried out, which resulted in the applied Stakeholder Theory. Semi-structured qualitative interviews, secondary data, and the Scopus database search were the main forms of data collection used in this research paper. The collected data was coded and analyzed using a thematic analysis that led to the emergent themes across the data set that enabled a thorough and categorized description of it in comparison to the literature. Conclusion: In combination with the collected empirical data, the findings of the systematic literature, and the analysis of the empirical data, the effects of firm alignment with the EU Taxonomy on the stakeholders of reporting firms in the construction industry are identified. Shim et al. (2014)’s Stakeholder Theory was applied as the main framework to identify the stakeholder groups and the effects that firm taxonomy alignment has on each different stakeholder. EU Taxonomy alignment was seen to have both positive and negative effects on stakeholders of reporting construction firms. Furthermore, the effects were seen to differ across each individual stakeholder group, and provide different considerations

SJUKSKÖTERSKANS UPPLEVELSE VID VÅRD AV PATIENTER MED MISSTÄNKT SEPSIS En allmän litteraturöversikt

    No full text

Literacy requirements in the primary school teacher education programme F-3 – A qualitative study examining teacher educators' perspectives

    No full text
This study investigates teacher educators' views on the literacy requirements for primary school teacher students in grades F-3 in the programme. The study aims to highlight how teacher educators view the language skills students need to complete the programme and in their future professional lives. In addition, the study investigates how they are supported in their development to become competent teachers. The background to this study is the current proposal to tighten the eligibility requirements, which means that a grade C in Swedish is required for admission to teacher training. The empirical data consists of semi-structured qualitative interviews with twelve teacher educators at five Swedish universities. The interview responses were analysed using thematic analysis from an academic literacy perspective. The results show that although the majority of teacher educators are positive about the possible changes to the entry requirements, there are divided opinions regarding the increase in entry requirements and that these may have varying consequences for future students and the teaching profession. The results reveal a dichotomous tension between improving the quality of education and the task of broadening recruitment to higher education. In addition, raising the entry requirements could exacerbate the teacher shortage in the long term. According to the informants, students' language skills are considered important for success in education, and it is emphasised that language and knowledge cannot be separated. Furthermore, it emerges that good language skills are required in the future professional role, as this leads to trust and increased professionalism. The study shows a need and a desire for more support for students from the university. The will is there, but opportunities are limited due to a lack of resources and tim

Uppsats för avläggande av filosofie kandidatexamen med huvudområdet kulturvård med inriktning mot bebyggelseantikvarisk verksamhet 2025-06-23, 15 hp GrundnivåThis thesis is based on a case study of the Rannebergen central complex in Gothenburg. Its aim is to explore the role individual buildings can play in processes of collective identity formation. Combining various ethnographic methods with a theoretical framework, grounded in Edward W. Soja’s (1996) concept of thirdspace, the study examines how the material; the imagined and the lived interact in the understanding of a specific place. The study focuses on the relationship between the physical characteristics of the central building and residents’ perceptions of Rannebergen as a whole. Issues concerning the building’s condition; its transformations over time and its use are highlighted as meaningful indicators. Attention is also given to how spatial imaginaries change over time, and how different perceptions – related to loss, optimism or potential – may coexist, sometimes in tension. Particular focus is placed on how a building located at the margin of urban attention may still become highly significant for those living nearby – especially through its use, memory and the new meanings assigned to it. Although context-specific and not readily generalizable the findings suggest that individual buildings – depending on their design, history, and everyday use – may play a more central role in shaping collective identity than is often acknowledged. This study thus contributes to a deeper understanding of how the small scale – the single building – can be integral to the social narrative of a place

Uppsats för avläggande av filosofie kandidatexamen med huvudområdet kulturvård med inriktning mot trädgårdens och landskapsvårdens hantverk, 2025The following thesis has taken up a case study of Garphyttan National Park which is located 1.5 km west of Örebro, in Närke and Örebro counties. The national park was established in 1909, as one of Sweden's first national parks, with the aim of preserving an older agricultural landscape in essentially unchanged condition. The overall purpose of the thesis was to deepen the knowledge of the national park's management and maintenance in a long-term perspective. The aim was also to raise knowledge about the history and agriculture of the place before it became a national park, as well as to highlight the biodiversity and biological cultural heritage of the farmland. The method was carried out as four sub-investigations with a document study, a map and register study, a field and inventory study and an interview study. Results from the study showed that the national park is located on the property of Östra gården in Svenshyttan and that there are many remains left from buildings, crofts, mines and coaling. Also extensive farmland with fields, cabbage farms, pastures, meadows, deciduous meadows and biological cultural heritage. Results from the study also show that the national park at the time of its establishment had total protection in the belief that the flora and deciduous meadows were completely natural and should not be managed. As a result, it grew again and the meadow lost its floral wonder. The old arable land was cleared up in the 1950s and parts of the flora returned. Inventories of plants and the creation of management plans in recent times have provided a better basis for the management and maintenance of the arable land. Results from the inventory show that the entire national park is undergoing a strong change with many measures needed. Diseases on deciduous trees and pests on conifers change both the natural and cultural environment. There is therefore a need to create a new management plan and regulations that provide more space for restoring the nature- and cultural environments. Other options discussed here are possibilities to convert the national park into a cultural reserve and nature reserve

Digitaliseringens påverkan på IKEA - en studie av omnikanal, logistik och konkurrenssituation

    No full text
This bachelor thesis investigates how digitalization has transformed Ikea's business operations, with a particular focus on omnichannel strategy, supply chain management, and competitive positioning. As digital technologies have reshaped consumer expectations and market dynamics, traditional retailers like Ikea have been compelled to adapt. Through a qualitative case study and an interview with a representative at Ikea, this research explores how the company has integrated physical and digital platforms to create a seamless customer experience, enhanced its logistics through data-driven supply chain strategies, and responded to increased competition from online retailers. The theoretical framework is based on Omnichannel Strategy, Porter's Five Forces, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Just-in-Time (JIT) logistics. The findings show that Ikea has effectively implemented a coordinated omnichannel system, blending physical stores with digital innovations such as Click & Collect, AR tools, and real-time inventory access. Furthermore, Ikea's supply chain has become more adaptive through automation and predictive analytics, although Just in time is only selectively applied due to the nature of its global operations. The study concludes that Ikea's digital transformation is not limited to technology but involves a strategic reorientation across the entire organization. The company’s ability to integrate digital tools while maintaining its core values has helped it remain competitive in a rapidly evolving retail environment. Recommendations for further development and implications for future research are also discussed

Determinants of Deal Structure in Swedish M&As: The Role of Regulatory Differences and Cross-Border Activity

    No full text
In Sweden´s highly internationalized economy, M&As have become a common strategy for corporate growth. However, there is limited research on differences between domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) involving Swedish firms. This study examines variations in deal value and payment method between domestic and cross-border M&As in Sweden, with a particular focus on the role of regulatory differences. Using a dataset of 207 M&A transactions from 2019 to 2023, two different ordinary least squares (OLS) regression models and two probit regression models are applied to assess the impact of total assets, return on equity, cross-border status and compliance with the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD). The results show that cross-border M&As are consistently linked to higher deal values, likely due to greater strategic benefits and market access. NFRD compliance initially correlates with higher deal values, but the effect becomes negative when controlling for firm size and profitability. NFRD also increases the likelihood of cash-financed deals. The findings are discussed in relation to the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH) and Agency theory, and compared with previous research. Overall, the study highlights how regulatory frameworks firm-specific characteristics shape M&As in Sweden. The results reject the hypothesis that cross-border deals are smaller and more often cash-financed, suggesting that regulatory differences reduce deal value and increase the likelihood of cash payments. These insights have implications for corporate decision-makers, investors and policymakers engaged in M&A strategy and regulation

AI-eldsjälar i skolans värld En kvalitativ studie om AI-implementering ur skolledares och lärares perspektiv

    Get PDF
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly gained traction in the education sector, with tools such as ChatGPT often highlighted as potential support in teachers’ daily work. At the same time, the technology raises important questions about how its use should be organized and what responsibilities school leaders hold. The aim of this study is to deepen the understanding of how generative AI is implemented in school organizations, focusing on the strategic work of school leaders and how this is experienced by teachers. The study is based on a qualitative study, comprising interviews with 14 school leaders and teachers in a county in western Sweden. The empirical material was analyzed through thematic analysis in combination with an abductive research approach. The theoretical framework includes Mintzberg’s strategy concept, Czarniawska’s model of change, and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model. The findings show that school leaders perceive a clear responsibility to drive the AI initiative forward, but the absence of clear directives leads to a strategy that leaves significant room for interpretation. Teachers’ use of generative AI varies widely and is largely driven by individual initiative, in the form of dedicated enthusiasts. At the same time, many express uncertainty and a desire for clearer guidance from leadership. A noticeable gap emerges between strategic intentions and everyday practice. A sustainable and equitable AI implementation requires clearer national guidelines, clear responsibility distribution, and long-term support within the school organization
