As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes an increasingly integrated part of both society and business organizations, new questions arise regarding how the use of AI impacts a company's legitimacy. It also raises questions about how the credibility of AI as a tool is perceived by leaders and employees. Utilizing a qualitative methodology and semistructured interviews with 12 respondents - both leaders and employees - the aim of this study is to explore how AI´s credibility as a tool is perceived by these groups and how this, in turn, influences its role in establishing organizational legitimacy. The theoretical framework is grounded in institutional theory, focusing on concepts such as legitimacy, isomorphism and decoupling. The findings indicate that AI can enhance organizational legitimacy by improving efficiency, strengthening competitiveness and modernizing work processes. Leaders emphasize the importance of implementering AI to meet external demands and enhance the organization's credibility. At the same time, employees express both expectations regarding the potential of the technology and concerns about trust and its impact on their job roles. The study highlights the importance of implementing AI in a way that balances external expectations with internal needs, thereby ensuring organizational legitimacy
The garden, atmospheres and the human presence - A multisensory analysis of the garden Azaleadalen in Slottsskogen
This study focuses on Azaleadalen, a part of the public park Slottsskogen in Gothenburg. It examines how the garden is perceived through a multisensory perspective and how the atmosphere of a garden is created, interpreted and changed through the human presence. Azaleadalen has been examined as a phenomenological place study through the application of theories from Simon Unwin together with Kevin Lynch. Once the phenomenons have been identified the garden has been studied though theories of Ola Sigurdson and Rachel Hann in an attempt to understand how Azaleadalen is curated to conceive specific atmospheres. This study shows the importance of the multisensory experience in order to both create and understand atmospheres around us, and how these atmospheres affect our understanding of the garden as a place. Further research can be done with more people in order to see the full effect the atmosphere of the garden has on humans as a group
Fast or slow – identification and description of hydrogeological pattern (structures) transmitting pressure and flow A case study of the Varberg tunnel
Groundwater can reside and flow in sediment and bedrock yet they exhibit different hydrological behaviors (Eveborn et al., 2017). Understanding hydraulic properties (e.g. porosity, transmissivity, hydraulic conductivity, connectivity), groundwater recharge, water-bearing structures and flow dimensions is essential for assessing groundwater movement. In addition, these factors must be evaluated to ensure that groundwater responses do not result in slope stability issues or settlement hazards (Gustafson, 2012).
Underground construction projects, e.g. tunneling is likely to influence groundwater and have impact on the surrounding environment for rock and sediment (Gustafson, 2012). Groundwater inflow into tunnels may result in lowered water levels above the structure. Other hazards include dry wells, reduced groundwater availability and settlement risks to buildings in the nearby area. In cities such as Gothenburg (Sweden) where old buildings are built on clay-filled depressions, the drawdown of groundwater beneath these layers can lead to subsidence and structural instability (Gustafson, 2012).
The objective of this master’s thesis is to identify and describe flow and pressure-bearing hydrogeological structures based on geological maps and data from the Varberg tunnel project. This is consistent with a study by Freer et al. (2002), but the emphasis here is on the depressions in bedrock where higher hydraulic conductivity is assumed. The methodology is a combination of literature study and simplified conceptual model to provide an overview of the area using published geological data. Comparison of the model with hydrological test results from WSP was used to confirm and/or reject the accuracy of the model. Data on fluctuations in groundwater level due to disturbances were incorporated in the discussion of groundwater connectivity in the area.
The results of this study suggest that hydraulic conductivity (K-value) is higher in and along bedrock depressions, based on K-values derived from single-hole tests around Varberg and for sediment within bedrock depressions. Disturbances in groundwater levels due to infiltration and tunnelling were also observed. The connectivity among the groundwater wells in terms of flow and pressure can possibly be the result of Nye-channels, bedrock-incised channels active during the last glacial period, or to till that has been subjected to erosion resulting in higher hydraulic conductivity
Am I an Adult yet? – Developing an Adult Identity in Emerging Adulthood.
This study explored emerging adults’ identity development, with the
aim of understanding how they develop their personal identity of becoming an
adult. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants about
their personal experiences of becoming an adult. In a reflexive thematic analysis,
I developed four themes: Measuring up to adulthood, Taking adult actions,
Facing the unknown and Reflecting to grow. The themes showed that identity
development was carried out in comparison to societal expectations of adulthood
and that taking adult actions to establish independence, claiming responsibility
and acknowledging one’s self-competence contributed to a sense of becoming
an adult. Moreover, emerging adults experienced future uncertainties and
struggled emotionally on their journey of becoming adults, which hindered them
in identifying as adults. However, they made meaning out of these struggles and
grew personally by reflecting on their past. The findings show that emerging
adults perceived becoming, rather than being, an adult as part of their identity
TEMPORAL DYNAMICS BETWEEN SUPRANATIONAL BIODIVERSITY POLICY AND CORPORATE DISCLOSURE Assessing the Semantic Relationship between Earnings Calls Conferences and the Work of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures
This thesis investigates the influence of the work of the Taskforce on Nature-related
Financial Disclosures (TNFD) on corporate biodiversity disclosure. It provides a
scalable method for assessing disclosure trends and contributes to the understanding
of how voluntary frameworks like the TNFD are received in corporate communication.
Through this, the study extends research techniques in Information Systems
Research beside the work done in terms of biodiversity research through its specific
case. By employing linear regressions with boolean and metrical time-series data as
dummy variables, correlation between the framework’s inception date and corporate
disclosure is inferred. By comparing TNFD glossary terms with earnings call conference
transcripts from global companies between 2014 and 2024, the study applies
semantic analysis to measure the framework’s reception globally. The results show
that terminology from TNFD’s LEAP framework, particularly terms tied to risk and
opportunity, are reflected increasingly in corporate language. Especially after the
date of the TNFD inception in 2021, terms relating to impacts on nature are less
precisely adopted and compared to risks, opportunities and dependencies on nature,
they show weaker statistical signals. Through a lens of governmentality, the findings
support the idea that supranational initiatives can shape corporate communication
without direct legal authority. The findings underline timely research in supporting
that the adoption of terminology linked to financial or internal strategic benefits (anthropocentric
framing) is received more openly by companies than the proposition
of healing nature for nature’s own sake. It is concluded that governmentality is alive
but must be framed anthropocentrically in biodiversity. The question remains open
whether this dynamic will translate into fruitful change in the future; while the
method applied shows to be a valid research instrument in the scholarship of Information
Systems research
The Role of Environmental Factors in Explaining Return Variation in Equity Markets
This study investigates whether environmental factors help explain return variation in equity markets, and if so, whether this relationship reflects a climate-related risk premium or investor preferences. We use the Refinitive ESG database (2025) to construct our own environmental score, which is then incorporated in a Green Minus Brown (GMB) factor. The time span for our study is 2015 to 2024. Our findings indicate that there is a varying time effect: prior to 2020, environmental performance had limited influence on returns, while after 2020, the GMB factor provided meaningful explanatory power for several portfolios. This suggests a growing market relevance for environmental characteristics in recent years. We also observed that green stocks tended to be most large-cap while brown firms were often small-cap. Our study contributes to the growing literature by showing that the explanatory power of environmental performance has grown over the years. However, our Fama–MacBeth regression results indicate that the GMB factor is not a priced risk factor in a cross-sectional sense. Further research is needed to assess whether these patterns hold across other markets and longer time periods
Swedish teachers’ use of the board in mathematics education - A comparison with the japanese method bansho
Banking in Transition: The Effect of FinTech on Incumbent Banks in Sweden
MSc in EconomicsThis thesis examines the impact of Financial Technology (FinTech) on the market power and
financial performance of incumbent banks in the Swedish banking sector. This study utilizes a
panel dataset covering six major banks in Sweden from 2010 to 2023 and applies fixed effects
regression model to examine the impact of FinTech presence, proxied by venture capital
investments, on market power and financial performance. Market power is measured by the
Lerner index, and financial performance is measured through return on assets and return on
equity. The results indicate that after the implementation of the PSD2 directive, increased
FinTech presence is associated with a decrease in incumbent banks’ market power.
Additionally, the results indicate that FinTech presence has a negative impact on the financial
performance of incumbent banks. These findings suggest that FinTech represents an emerging
competitive force, and that regulation may play a key role in shaping its future influence on the
banking industry
i vården.
