many industrial diesel engines are used as the main engine of the ship. Apart from being relatively cheaper, the availability of industrial engine is also very abundant, and the repair process is also not too complicated. However, when viewed from the SOLAS regulations related to the main requirements for a ship propulsion engine, it must also be considered, because it operates at sea, so that ship engines must be tougher than industrial engines, especially related to engine performance when experiencing rolling and trim. The purpose of this research is to test the feasibility of industrial diesel engines being operated on ships. By using a water-cooled single-cylinder diesel engine which is commonly used in small ships. The experimental method was used in this research to obtain optimal results according to the conditions in the field, the engine was made in three variations, namely the normal condition (without inclination angle), the rolling condition of 150, and the trim condition of 50 which complies with SOLAS regulations related to the inclination angle. The results of the research obtained torque, Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC), and engine thermal efficiency in various engine variations. The highest torque is in the condition of the 150 rolling engine, which is 13.87 N.m. The lowest SFC is in the condition of the 150 rolling engine, which is 194 gr/kW.h. and the highest thermal efficiency was also obtained at the condition of the 150 rolling engine, namely 44.9%. The higher the engine speed, the higher the engine performance value in rolling 150 conditions, and the 50 trim conditions experience an increasing trend, but in low rotation conditions (750 Rpm) the performance decreases. Seeing the results obtained, a water-cooled single-cylinder diesel engine can be used as a small boat propulsion engine

    Get PDF
KMP Bambit is an Indonesian Ro-Ro ship that carries passengers. It is public transportation from Merauke Regency to Asmat Regency and vice versa. The ship is still using fluorescent lamps as its main lighting source. This study presents a comparative study of the efficiency level between the use of fluorescent lamps and LED lamps in the room aboard the ship. The method used is the zonal cavity (lumen) method by dividing each room into three parts, namely the height ceiling cavity (hcc), height room cavity (hrc), and height floor cavity (hfc). The illumination value was determined according to the standards set for each room. The principal results for comparing lighting power on KMP Bambit showed that the total lighting electrical load accumulated using the fluorescent lighting type was 24.31kW. In contrast, LED lighting had a total lighting electrical load of 16.51 kW. This reduced the generator power from 68 kW to 60 kW, which could improve the efficiency of ship fuel operational costs. This study can evaluate the existing Ro-Ro ship fleet and be a good option in the process of building Ro-Roships in the future

Results of the study, using MEWMA control chart, it was found that the average process for quality of graduates was statistically controlled in phase II. Selection of the most optimal weighting is λ=0.9. Meanwhile, for application of the MEWMV control chart, it was found that the process variability in the quality of graduates was also statistically controlled. The selection of the most optimal weights is λ =0.9 and ω=0.3. The results of the calculation of process capability, multivariately the GPA variable, length of the final project preparation, and length of the study show that all three are not capable

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation of Mixing Tank at Milk Powder Factory to Reduce Material Losses

Industrial milk powder production applies the principle of a spray dryer. In the powdered milk industry using a spray dryer, there are still some problems in actual conditions such as fouling in the heat exchanger and losses. Losses are lost material or time so that result in losses for the company. The importance of finding material losses as soon as possible it is possible to make a solution so that initially unknown material is wasted in vain can be used as a finished good. Steps taken to resolve the problem material losses is to identify problems and data by making mapping losses according to actual conditions. After that, a CFD mixing tank simulation can be performed on Ansys with the aim of the simulation is to get the contour of the foaming phenomenon and find out the height the phenomenon of foaming (foam) with the properties set up begins at the beginning of making geometric designs with the size of the tank is 3.5 m and uses a marine propeller type,  then proceeds with meshing In geometry, meshing here uses the automatic meshing method due to the limited analysis students. after that the solving stage is carried out by inputting data such as density, viscosity and input multiphase (mixture), viscous (Large Eddy Simulation), as the boundary conditions of the geometry, after that by making a plane from the results of running to form a plane in geometry, then choose the results of the contour volume fraction to find out the phenomena that occur in mixing  tank so that conclusions and solutions can be drawn. Based on the results of data analysis and the field in the form of mapping and data on quantity losses, there are still some material losses in the form of wet and dry losses that have not been identified, initially the percentage ratio of material losses is 40.57% to 9%. One of the biggest contributors to material wet losses is mixing tanks which simulated until it is known that there is a foaming phenomenon. It interferes with the way it works level sensor which causes less maximum withdrawal of milk liquid by the pump. The best solution right way to reduce losses that occur in the mixing tank is to close the valve mixing tank output when showing 1.8% or can be rounded to 2% for safety pump. The liquid that is used as a product is 270 liters which is equivalent to 113 kg. If the calculation is carried out, the company can store 8,505 kg/month of powder

    Get PDF
Research has been conducted on the characterization of coughing sounds based on the measured sound pressure level of the Arduino-based MAX9814 sound sensor to determine the characteristics of coughing sounds based on the Sound Pressure Level (SPL). This research method is carried out by designing sound sensor hardware and software using the MAX9814 sound sensor. After that, recording the coughing sound data from the cough voice coswara respondent data set using a sound sensor and converting it to SPL data. After that, the cough SPL data was analyzed from the SPL cycle graph during recording and the cough phase pattern. And the resulting characterization of coughing sound based on coughing pressure using an Arduino-based MAX9814 sound sensor produced a coughing sound character in terms of sound pressure level (SPL) based on the expulsive phase and the intermediate phase of coughing. The expulsive phase indicator is emphasized the intensity of occurrence and density in one cycle of recording coughing sounds. And for the intermediate phase based on the drop rate of the SPL back to the SPL position without coughing. The SPL of cough detected by the MAX9814 sound sensor is ±80dB.

Hydrostatics Curve Approach as a Design Development of Fishing Canoe With Bilge Keel to Improve Rolling Period

    Get PDF
Canoes are currently starting to be in demand among the public, some of the activities that can be carried out using canoes include fishing, traveling or water sports. Canoes are still in great demand compared to other types of boats, because canoes are very stable in calm water. Its stability is the reason why this type of boat is usually chosen as the type of boat for beginners and family outings. Unfortunately the canoe is less stable in challenging waters. When the weather or waters are calm the canoe is reliable, however when it turns bad with very choppy water and high winds a skilled oarsman is needed to keep the boat afloat. The downside with canoes is having good primary stability but usually poor secondary stability. This means the boat is only stable in still water. If the wind blows hard and creates very choppy water, then the canoe or canoe will lose stability and rolling motion which can cause accidents for its users. Therefore I will try to use a flat bottom canoe design by adding a bilge keel to the hull of the canoe in hopes of adding stability. I tried to compare the stability and roll period of a regular canoe with one that used 1 pair of bilge keels, 6.25 cm wide, 0.8 cm thick and 30 degrees angled. Variations in the length of the bilge keel used include 0.875, 1.05 and 1.225 m. Mounted in the middle of the ship, not too forward or backwards

Dependence on materials for the small ship industry can cause other problems. The development of cheap, environmentally friendly, and sustainable small ship manufacturing raw materials is a challenge that must be faced, this gave rise to the idea of developing asphalt-matrixed bamboo (Gigantochloa apus) composite materials with added latex (Hevea brasiliensis) as small ship hull skin material. The asphalt-latex composite material reinforced with apus bamboo fibers was tested using a three-point bending test and a Charpy-type impact test concerning ASTM. The test results showed that the asphalt-latex composite material reinforced with bamboo fibers had an impact toughness of 57.2 kJ/m² and a flexural strength of 6.4 MPa

Konvergensi Barisan dan Kelengkapan pada Ruang Metrik Parsial Rectangular

    Get PDF
The metric space is one of the objects studied in functional analysis. The metric space has undergone many developments, some eHamples of which are partial metric spaces and rectangular metric spaces. The difference between the metric space and the partial metric space can be seen in the distance of a point from itself. In the metric space, it is always equal to zero, while in the partial metric space it is not equal to zero. On the other hand, the difference between a metric space and a metric rectangular space can be seen in the inequalities used. In the metric space we use triangular inequalities, while in the metric rectangular space we use rectangular inequalities.  Shukla in 2014 presents the development of another metric space called  rectangular partial metric space, which combines the concept of  partial metric space with  rectangular metric space. This research we discusses the problem of the properties of the rectangular partial metric space, including convergence sequences, Cauchy sequences, and completeness of space in the rectangular partial metric space
