    Get PDF
AbstractThis research aims to develop an environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles using Tangkit pineapple peel extract with iron sand from the Batanghari River, Jambi, as raw materials. FTIR analysis detected Fe-O metal oxide clusters at a wavenumber of 533 cm⁻¹, confirming the presence of Fe₃O₄. The XRD diffraction pattern according to ICSD reference data number 01-076-0956 shows the highest intensity peak at an angle of 2θ 30.17°; 35.47°; 57.18°; and 62.77° with an average crystal diameter of 19.99 nm. SEM showed irregular particle morphology, while particle size analysis revealed an average particle size of 198 nm. Magnetic properties test using VSM shows that the nanoparticles are superparamagnetic with a saturation magnetization (Ms) of 26.25 emu/g. In the Rhodamine B adsorption test, the highest efficiency was achieved at a mass of 100 mg with a value of 95.21%. The optimum adsorption time occurred at 75 minutes with an efficiency of 98.52%. These results indicate that Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles synthesized via the green synthesis method using Tangkit pineapple peel extract have high potential for application in processing textile dye waste. Keywords: green synthesis, Fe3O4 nanoparticles, bioreductor, environmentally friendly. adsorbent. Comparation of Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) 2D on Safety Factor and Embankment Reinforcement

    Get PDF
The analysis of slope stability is crucial during embankment planning to ensure safety and prevent landslides. A stable slope ensures the safety of surrounding infrastructure, minimizing the risk of damage. Therefore, with slope stability analysis can manage and maintain infrastructure assets. The primary method used to evaluate slope stability is the Limit Equilibrium Method, frequently employed in a 2D framework using various applications such as Plaxis LE and Geostudio. Using diverse applications for analysis can yield varying safety factors, influencing the required reinforcement. Hence, this study analyzed safety factors and the necessary geotextile reinforcement for embankments on soft soil featuring distinct heights, slopes, and widths in 2D. The analysis was performed using the Plaxis LE application, and the results were subsequently compared with those obtained from the Geostudio application. This research shows that the results of the embankment safety factors with the Plaxis LE application are different from those of the embankment safety factors with Geostudio, resulting in different embankment geotextile reinforcement namely the need for Plaxis LE geotextile reinforcement = 0.7 Geostudio geotextile reinforcement

Assessing Water Quality in Nigerian Villages: An IoT-Based Monitoring of Three Rivers

    No full text
Ensuring safe and clean water is crucial for public health, especially in regions with limited access to reliable water quality testing. This study focuses on assessing water quality in three Nigerian villages using an IoT-based system. Traditional water quality monitoring methods are often expensive, time-consuming, and require specialized personnel and laboratory facilities. To overcome these challenges, we propose a low-cost, real-time water quality monitoring system utilizing the ESP32 microcontroller equipped with sensors for temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity. Our system collects and transmits data for continuous monitoring and analysis. The deployment in Nigerian villages along three rivers reveals that while pH levels are within safe limits, turbidity levels in two rivers exceed acceptable drinkingwater standards, highlighting the presence of particulate contamination. The system’s real-time capabilities and cost-effectiveness demonstrate its potential for broader application in resource-constrained areas. This study underscores the importance of IoT technologies in enhancing water quality monitoring and contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals related to clean water and sanitatio

CONFLICT MITIGATION STRATEGIES IN HOUSING AND SETTLEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: A CASE STUDY OF INDONESIA'S NEW NATIONAL CAPITAL CITY (IKN)

    Get PDF
This study aims to highlight the conflict, especially those occurring in housing and settlement development projects, and provide relevant solutions to enhance project efficiency in New National Capital City (IKN), Indonesia. Site management involves a series of operations that combine various materials to achieve the final construction result. Therefore, to improve project productivity, it is essential to identify and implement key management techniques. Critical components of project execution and on-site management include integration management, site planning, resource management, site safety, monitoring, and supervision. Neglecting these components can lead to decreased productivity. Thus, addressing these issues and recognizing these components and tensions is essential. The study utilizes literature review, on-site observations, and semi structured interviews during the execution of construction projects. These conflicts were analyzed using factor analysis based on the average ranking obtained through questionnaire surveys. Data was collected from 48 respondents, selected based on simple random sampling from construction stakeholders. Feedback from the respondents was analyzed using the frequency for ranking purposes. The results identified seven main conflict factors. This aims to assist in conflict management in upcoming projects

This study aims to identify the characteristics of passengers in choosing transportation modes in Manado and to determine the factors that influence the choice of transportation modes. This research uses quantitative research methods. The results of the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) test show the factors that influence the choice of transportation modes in Manado, namely travel costs, distance travel, and ease of access to modes. The CR value of travel costs to vehicle conditions is 7.456, the CR value of distance traveled to ease of access is 9.682, and the CR value of ease of access to online transportation is 4.654, conventional transportation is 8.282, and private vehicles is 7.365

Preliminary Study on Willingness to Pay for Adaptive Management in Komodo National Park: A Contingent Valuation Approach

    Get PDF
Komodo National Park (KNP), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, faces significant environmental challenges due to increasing tourism, climate change, and resource management issues. This preliminary study employs the Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) to estimate visitors' willingness to pay (WTP) for adaptive management initiatives aimed at preserving the park's unique biodiversity and ecological health. Conducted in Labuan Bajo, the main gateway to KNP, the study involved 50 respondents who were surveyed on their WTP for improved environmental quality and management. The binary logistic regression analysis revealed that higher income levels and gender significantly influence WTP, with higher income individuals and males being more likely to contribute financially. Marital status showed a negative association with WTP, suggesting that married individuals may have financial constraints. The study highlights the importance of understanding sociodemographic factors to design effective funding strategies for conservation. The findings underscore the need for targeted communication and engagement strategies to increase financial support for adaptive management. These insights will inform policy and management strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of KNP
