Simulation Validation for Thermal Performance of Building Envelope Material in Humid Tropical Higland Climate
Modeling and simulation using computer software are very important in supporting various types of research based on data calculations. In the research process, accuracy is needed between the simulation results and the results of field measurements. Thus, there is no significant difference between the two results. This study aims to verify and validate the result of field measurements and simulation using the ARCHIPAK 5.1 software. The variables studied focus on indoor air temperature and humidity. This research takes a case study in the village of Ranupane which is located within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. There are 4 housing buildings measured which consist of two types of houses using fireplaces and two types of houses without fireplaces. All of the four houses are afterward modeled using the ARCHIPAK 5.1 software to validate the data results. From the measurement results, the field measurement data show a higher hourly temperature profile compared to the results of the simulation of the base case model. Two striking differences are the type of house without a fireplace which is showing the difference in the average temperature of 1-2 K. While the type of house using fireplace shows the difference average temperature of 5,2-5,3 K. This occurs due to the internal heat gain input which the value is a slight difference between the result of field measurements and simulation of the base case model. This data verification and validation will be used as modeling optimal building configuration for housing in a humid tropical highland climate
Risk Analysis of Community Based Infrastructure Grant Program
The Provincial Government of East Java seeks to improve the welfare of the community and overcome socio-economic problems through local grant-making mechanisms. One form of grants carried out by the Administration of Development Bureau (ADB) is road infrastructure development. The implementation of the project has risks that have an impact on the use of ineffective and inefficient regional budget (APBD). Risks obtained from literature which were analyzed to determine the effect of these risks on the sustainability of the program. The Differential Semantic Scale questionnaire was conducted first to assess the relevance of risk to the implementation of the regional grant program. The next step is Risk Level Analysis. At this stage the probability and impact calculation of each risk is carried out. The questionnaire was used to obtain respondents opinion who were responsible for the implementation of the regional grant program. 3 risks have been generated which are included in the high risk level of 26 relevant risks. ADB needs to pay attention to risks, especially priority risks in the management of infrastruture grant program. The findings in this study provide new references in the field of risk management
The Effect of Financial Incentives, Organizational Commitment, and Job Satisfaction on Employee Performance
Organization or business performance always have close relation with its own member or employee performance and productivity. Most of them only focus on raising the wealthy of its member by giving financial incentives hoping it will reflect with significant improvement of member performance. But in some case giving the incentives not always bring significant increase to member productivity. This study was made with the aim to determine the effect of financial incentives, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction on employee performance. This study uses quantitative study. Data collection procedures used in this study are structured data collection. The population used is 10 persons of installation and maintenance employees of PT. KONE Indo Elevator throughout Indonesia that has implement some financial incentive to boots up their employee performance. The result of the study was financial incentives and job satisfaction have positif and significant effect to employee performance while organizational commitment not having signifficant effect to employee performance
Optimization Model Schedule Nervousness in Flight Catering Industry
Abstract―Instability often occurs in production planning, which is also known as schedule nervousness. This phenomenon triggers companies to make various efforts in minimizing the level of instability. In this study, the author tries to look at the schedule nervousness problems of the aviation catering industry in determining the amount of production planning to increase profits. In the context of schedule nervousness, there is a very high difference between the value of the temporary demand which is known 10 hours before with the fix order when the airline has closed the check-in process. This phenomenon makes the aviation catering company must bear the loss in value of the difference in demand that occurs. In one month the company must bear the loss of at least 500 packs of food. Based on those problems, the author tries to make an optimization model with linear programming by determining the number of orders for each airline and class of passengers at a certain service level to produce minimal inventory with large profits. The completion of the model using Lingo software is running well and has produced an optimal solution. The potential cost reduction carried out in the first week of January 2020, has provided the best scenario with the potential for cost savings of the production process around the production cost of around Rp 53 million or about 23%
The Impact of Apartment Development on Community Social Economic Life: Case Study on Strenkali Community-in Asemrowo, Surabaya
The aims of Development for the welfare of the community, but often this development affects changes in environmental arrangements around the area which are outside the development goals. Environmental changes due to unplanned human activities have a negative impact on other social groups. Environmental impacts have the meaning of changes that can be natural or unnatural. This article aims to describe the impact of the construction of the Gunawangsa apartment, which is located around the Asemrowo River, Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The informants in this study are people who live in the Asemrowo strenkali which is directly adjacent to the Gunawangsa Apartment Building, abaout 22 families. The results of the study found that the Gunawangsa apartment building which has been going on for 3 years has not felt the impact of significant changes in improving the family economy. The community still feels that socio-economic life is not much different from before development. Implementation of Risk Management for Coal Switching in Coal Fired Steam Power Plant
Steam Power Plant is the backbone of electricity sector in Indonesia. Steam Power Plants supply 27.5 GW to the grid, in which 90% of them is coal fired. Today, several Coal Fired Steam Power Plants face a supply problem; consequently, they must procure lower quality of coal. One of them is XYZ Coal Fired Steam Power Plant. Even if there are four candidates of provider to supply coal for a minimum 10 years, it is necessary to make assessment about the effects of coal switching on equipment. The risk assessment focuses on effects of each coal sample on equipment in plant site, especially the equipment closely related to firing process, i.e., boiler, electrostatic precipitator (ESP), and Seawater Flue Gas Desulfurization (SWFGD). Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) is employed to map problem and problem root in equipment. Risk analysis and evaluation use House of Risk (HOR), meanwhile Net Present Value (NPV) is used to evaluate financial traits. HOR analysis shows one environmental factor, i.e., emission, becomes the highest risk as each coal has high ash content; hence it is necessary to improve emission control. SEEING THE AGREEMENT OF THE RESIDENTS IN FILLING EMPTY SPACE IN THE SETTLEMENT
Land availability is increasingly limited, so it is not surprising that land prices are getting more expensive. However, behind the high price of land, there is a lot of empty space, especially in settlements, in the form of vacant land, buildings, ready-to-build land and built-up land that is not utilized or stalled. There are houses in settlements that are purchased only for investment so that they are not used or occupied by the owner, vacant land such as land under a network of sutets, and land in the form of lots ready to build in unsold housing. This condition is of course very unfortunate given the high price of land and the very high needs of the community for land, especially for housing, social space and as a place of business. Therefore, this research is to see how the occupants agree to fill the empty space in the settlement, using qualitative methods. The results showed that most residents agree that empty spaces in settlements should not be left empty for too long, but can be used for useful things while maintaining public interests, not harming others, not disturbing others, positive activities. and keep the environment clean. The use of empty space in settlements, both formal and non-formal by residents of the premises, is as a place to raise fish, place animal cages, plant fruit and vegetable gardens, park vehicles, play areas for children, place temporary leaf trash, sports fields and night markets
