Development of ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to Maintain Stability of Biogas Fuelled Generator

    Get PDF
Biogas fueled generator has a unique character because the converter kit on the generator has the characteristic of absorbing the biogas supply. Therefore, in this study, biogas is accommodated in a plastic container equipped with a valve that can adjust the amount of biogas supply pressure. Combustion in the Genset combustion chamber will occur if the ratio of air supply and supply of biogas (AFR = Air to Fuel Ratio) meets the stoichiometric number. So a ratio control is needed on air supply and biogas supply, which can follow changes in biogas conditions in plastic bags and generator loads. For this reason, this paper presents an ECU (Electronic Control Unit) that can regulate the ratio of air supply to biogas supply by using a servo motor valve, which is commanded by a control signal from the ECU. The resulting ECU prototype is equipped with a multi-input connector (to receive the signal output of CH4 methane gas sensor and the biogas supply pressure sensor), multi-output (control signal to the servo motor valve), and multi regulators to adjust the Set Point value for the methane gas content CH4, the value of the set point of the biogas supply pressure and to tune the value of the proportional gain control (KP). The results of the ECU performance test by trial and error by giving a dummy input signal (analogy to the signal output of methane gas sensor and the analog of the pressure sensor output signal in the form of an electric voltage generated from the signal generator) can drive the servo motor, valve air supply, and servo motor, valve supply biogas. Accordance with the gain control input from the regulator.

Boiler as the steam generator is usually utilized as a turbine drive and other industrial processes. Boiler needs good treatment and surveillance to keep its best performance. Boiler water (BW) and boiler feed water (BFW) quality control is essential in boiler maintenance since it preserves boiler from crust, corrosion, and carry over, moreover, it also prevents boiler pipe to break. Boiler maintenance in sugar refinery factory is carried out by controlling the quality of BFW, Chemical injection (inner maintenance) and blowdown of boiler water. BFW mineral content (SiO2 , total hardness) is maintained as small as possible using a softener (cation resin) or demineralization unit (cation and anion resin). Chemical injection is performed by the addition of soda in order to control the pH of boiler water. Phosphate addition aims to tie up total hardness level which is caused by concentration process of water boiler and slipped of hard water from BFW. Blowdown process has purpose to reduce crust and corrosion caused by mineral concentrate inside boiler. The experiment was conducted by controlling pH of BFW from 7.5-8.5, maximum total hardness at 3 ppm, maximum SiO2  concentration at 3 ppm and maximum Total Dissolve Solid (TDS) at 100 ppm while BW was controlled its pH at 10.5-11, maximum total hardness at 20 ppm, maximum SiO2  concentration at 50 ppm, maximum Total Dissolve Solid (TDS) at 2000 ppm, and residual phosphate ion between 4 – 10 ppm. The experiment time was adjusted as a milled day or about for 140 days. The result of the experiment showed that the treatment had a good impact on the condition of the boiler drum pipe

PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya is a company engaged in logistics, container services. Since the end of December 2019, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya began implementing a gate automation system at gate in exports. One thing that is done to support the gate automation is the Exception Area which is used as a data repair place for trucks that experience problems during the gate-in export process before heading to the stacking field. Containers that are constrained during the gate-in process indicate that there are procedural errors carried out by internal companies and external parties, such as drivers, forwarders, and importers related to administrative and technical problems. This research focuses on controlling the quality of container problems that enter the exception area by using a statistical method in the form of lean six sigma. The purpose of this study is to determine the average length of time to resolve containers for each problem, to know the quality of and the sigma level of the average length of time to resolve containers that enter the Exception Area based on the average number of container problems entering the Exception Area according to five problem criteria, knowing the problems that cause themost of the containers that enter the Exception Area. The results of the analysis in this study are the average length of time for containers that enter the Exception Area for each problem as a whole, the highest is caused by the system and the lowest is due to the closing time. The average number of container problems that enter the Exception Area in accordance with the five criteria, the problem has been controlled statistically with the most problem causes caused by the system, and the sigma level value is obtained from the average number of container problems that enter the Exception Area according to the five problem criteria which is 3,395, which means the variation or diversity of container problems that enter the exception area based on the problems of the containers that enter the Exception Area according to the five criteria, the problem is quite large

Performance Optimization of Gas Turbine Generator Based on Operating Conditions Using ANN-GA at Saka Indonesia Pangkah Ltd

    Get PDF
A Gas Turbine is a rotary engine that extracts energy from a flow combustion gas. The reliability and efficiency of gas turbines are one of the top priorities at Saka Indonesia Pangkah Ltd (SIPL). In order to optimize the operating conditions of a gas turbine, three components are needed. First is the problem formulation which consists of objective functions, problem boundaries or constraints, and determination of optimized variables. The second component is a valid model, which represents the characteristics of a gas turbine installed in SIPL. The third component is the optimization technique that is suitable with the optimization problem that will be solved. In this paper, the objective function is maximizing gas turbine efficiency, some operational limitation as constrains by manipulating air to fuel ratio. The model was developed using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) was selected as the stochastic optimization technique to solve the problem. The neural network model created directly using the operational data from an actual parameter gas turbine generator. The data needed for ANN-based modeling is around 8150 data sets that will be used to train and validate the ANN model. Variable data sets were divided in two parts, for training purposes is 87.5% and for validation is 12.5%. Weight management for neural networks was carried out using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm which could give good results with RMSE = 7.3 X 10-3. From the results of the stochastic optimization (GA) simulation, the potential reduction of fuel gas consumption is around 280.8 kg/hr if the air mass flow can be increased from 2.4 kg/s to 2.7 kg/s or efficiency increase up to 10.6%

    Get PDF
To help universities non-academic staffs maintain their productivity amid the COVID 19 outbreak, MOOC ENAS was developed. To guarantee the eligibility of the program, through this research, ADDIE model was employed to evaluate the course plan. Step 1 and 2 out of the whole 5 steps of ADDIE were used to describe qualitatively about the course design. Using an online questionnaire, the authors received 110 responses and were able to demonstrate that the design had the quality for a good course design. This was led by the results of investigation on the participants’ background correspond to the course plan including the description and objectives. It was figured out that the design was able to accommodate the participants’ language learning demands. The course design facilitated students learning by serving their education background, their workplace origin, and their already existing language learning experience. However, the study was lacking in the generalizability. To serve this, further research is needed by adding quantitative data so that the results of the evaluation could be presented in numbers that were more accurate and elusive. Finally, in terms of design, the MOOC ENAS is quite accommodating to be further continued into development of course content, implementation, and evaluation as assigned in ADDIE Model
